My first homemade Nerf gun is kind of a ball-valve gun with a lot of black electrician's tape on it (to cover leaks and to make it look cool). It shoots every standard dart such as micros, taggers, etc. and stefans. It uses PVC piping, except for the end, which uses CPVC piping (all 1/2 inch).

The CPVC was a little crooked in that picture.

Here's the pump. I took the whole tube thing off the pump and fitted it in to the PVC.

Here's the ball-valve. (Below)

Yes, my rims are hot, as you can see above the valve. No, that's not my car.

Thanks,

linish

P.S. This post's purpose was to give ideas to people for homemades.

P.S.S. PM me if you can't see the pictures.

EDIT: Oh, and it shoots around 40 feet.

Electical tape will not cover leaks. Use Goop on leaks.
Other than that, cool. Looks like a boomstick.

There is no trigger.
What you do:

1. Load dart into barrel

2. Put valve in closed position

3. Pump gun

4. Put valve in open position

5. Watch baby cry

meh. Question though, what does the cpvc at the end do? If darts are loaded into the pvc portion, the cpvc part will most likely block the darts coming out. If darts are loaded into the cpvc portion, then the pvc portion is just dead space that reduces your range. If this is the case, you should cut down on the pvc barrel to increase range. Also, it looks like there's no check valve, so this is a one pump dealie yes?

Edit- you should probably replace the pics with smaller ones before being flamed.

You'll do a lot better if you spread the lips with the front. Trying to wriggle the back in there first seems a bit counterintuitive.

Ah, I get your point.

Sorry for being a newbie, but what is a check valve?

It lets air pass one way, but not another.

Most pumps already have check valves in them.

As has been said before, goop isn't good for making airtight PVC joints either. Use PVC cement to solvent weld the joints. It's not expensive or difficult.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

How would stefans come into play? Would you need a ram-rod for better distance on this gun?

I see this having potential for a killer RSCB system.

linish22, search for that.

It might help.

yeah, E-tape will not hold pressure. This is cool, but really dumb. Im not gonna lie, it wont blow up in your face, but thats e-tape that could have been saved for use on something like a plunger seal. Just use the correct glue and you should be alright.

I like it though. Simple pump gun.

I thought that, too, but It's two kids with the same avatar.

I do like this gun. So simple. 40 feet is pretty short ranges. Some real sealant should improve that.

Yeah, it can be confusing at first glance. He did still double post. Anyway, I don't know how many pumps you can get in there, because Quilan Fett is right, I checked and my bicycle pump does have a check valve. However, I've made something like this where the "airtank" was a stick of 1/2 in pvc about 16 in. long, and I was only able to get at most 1 and 1/2 pumps. I think it has to to with the fact that the diameter of the bike pump was bigger than that of the pipe, like it is here. Also, there is the fact that a ball valve can only turn so fast, so this is limited by that. I don't think you can really improve this much more unless you change everything about it, which is....4 pieces.

Yeah, my pump's a check valve.
Around 10 pumps gets you to 40 feet, but I don't think the thing can take any more than 15.
Sorry about the double posting, I'm new and I forgot.

This was my first homemade, so I didn't expect it to get such good reviews.

Is it hard to pump? I like how its all in one line (pump-tank-barrel). How big is it?

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.
