I'm curious about how many of us 'nerfers' actually use Nerf brand blasters at NIC nerf wars. I'm only interested in what you use as your primary under normal circumstances. If you'reusing a modded stampede for attack/defend rounds, or you have a nitefinder for pistol rounds, that doesn't count, nor do nerf shells with homemade or off-brand internals. Personally, I haven't used my crossbow since 2010, and I was one of the late adopters in my area. By 2011 the majority of people at Apoc had lanard/buzz bee blasters or homemade springers.

Well not for lack of trying but I still use my BBB at wars. I have 2 longshots that I use occasionally as well.

Well, never actually used a nerf-brand blaster as a primary for wars. My modding started out with nerf (mavs, titan, hyperfires, fureyfires, a raider, a LS, etc), but once I was ready to start warring I got a PAS and coupler'd it, and that was my primary for all the wars I've been to where I actually participated (a whopping two, one basic Cinci war and then Revolution). I have since upgraded to an awesome self-built pullback rainbow, which i use with a hopper, and which I will use for all conceivable future wars until I come up with something even more awesome, maybe a Lazer Tag Master Blaster with rainbow internals and a Titan integration, or a Tornado Bow.

And Langley, does that crossbow of yours have homemade internals?

At DCNF 3, I used the AT3K I got from Chaos for half of a single round, because it was near unusable for me with no brass stubs to hold the stefans, but i'm not counting that.

At DCNF 1.5 I used me singled LongShot from Sharvil so i'm saying that in like June 2011 was the last time I used a Nerf blaster for a primary.

I've never even been to an NIC organized war before. :( However, I might be going to TANGO 6! And if so, I'll probably be using some type of Nerf blaster. However, I'll probably use my Max Shot for a couple of rounds.

I had to vote 2011, but only because I haven't been to an NIC war since then. I still make use of my BBB w/ integrated Switch Shot. It is my most reliable primary currently - it has never failed on me, which I can't say for any other primary I own.

I'll occasionally throw a 35 round drum in my ar removed ls when I get the silly urge to spam darts.

It is interesting to note that so far most nerf brand blasters being used are air techs and older. I expect to see some saying they use nf's in pistol rounds, or maybe a stampede as a primary... Could that mean nerf is loosing its competitive edge for modding? It wasn't until reading this thread that I realized how heavily I relied on off brands like Buzz bee, lanard, ertl, and more recently marshmallow shooters as base components for my blasters.

I would consider that a vote for "Still using one". If you intend to continue using your nerf brand blaster, please vote "Still using one". Only vote for one of the other options if you have made a conscious decision to use something other than a Nerf brand blaster.

I had a stock-only war with mostly Vortex blasters recently, but it wasn't an NIC war - it was more of an attempt to get the locals interested in nerfing. I'll slowly easy them into building homemade blasters over the next few months.

The last Nerf brand blaster I used as a regular primary was my Splitfire back in the spring of 2010. I've used purely homemade blasters since then.

My style is ARR Recon. It/they (I own two) have been my trusty sidekicks since as long as I can remember. Mostly because I run. A LOT. However, upon trying this at APOC '11, I got my @$$ handed to me on a PVC platter. But for my wars, they work great!

Although I have never attended a NIC organized war, I do go to a weekly war at a near-by college. I mostly use my FAR and SGN-R3L, but sometimes I use a stampede (heavily modified), or a AR-less, NF springed, hyperfire. All of these with stock darts.

Okay, that does it! I'm going to take a 3B to the next Effin' so I can change my vote! (But, the last time was when I broke Tantum's 3K in 2009, at current time.)

However, I know one guy last year used an AR-less AT and drums (and his feet) with devastating efficiency. In fact, I built the Mo'Raider for him this year, if I can ever get my side plates done.

If I ever find a Rayven on CL, I may upvolt that and try it out as a primary as well.

I'm quite fond of a good 'ole Longshot and I always use NF's as pistols. However, I do also use a PAS and a Pump-SNAP a lot more frequently as primaries.

My primary is a Buzz Bee branded blaster with heavy modifications, but the sidearm I carry is a SplitFire.

This poll makes me happy. I was beginning to think that using Nerf brand blasters at wars was a dying fad. I myself use an overhauled 3B with an internal RSCB at wars. It doesn't get homemade ranges at all, but it's still fun. I intend to use Nerf guns at Nerf wars forever.

I use a singled 2K for everything, and when I can't use it, I use a singled NF. (No, that 2K does not have an aluminum tank in it, though my latest primary that has not been war-tested does.)

I'm still rocking my old singled longshot. While it only shoots around 70 feet, it's the most accurate and reliable blaster that I own. I occasionally use my plusbow or my snap when I need more firepower (or even dual wield speed-loaded nitefinders), but I always seem to find myself going back to that longshot.

At non NIC wars I host I use a modded Jolt and alpha trooper and arrowstorm. At NIC wars I've been using a SNAP, brassed LS, NF, Big blast, and a Semi auto firefly (big salvo tank).

I gave up on Hasbro a while ago.
too many reverse plungers and disc shooters nowadays. Fucking pathetic.

Long live Buzz Bee and Lanard!
Even though I have a special place in my heart for ERTL.

Nerf needs to clean up their act.
The only reason I haven`t stopped calling them "Nerf" wars, is because I haven't thought of or heard of anything better.
Majority of wars I attend/host nowadays I don't see that much Nerf brand hardware.

It's only when someone brings out one of the newer guns to show people between rounds.
Everyone's thinking the same thing
"It's cute and quirky and might work in close quarters but there is no way I'm spending $30-$50 on that"
"Maybe I can use the shell and put something better on the inside."
"That gun is like a roid monkey or an annorexic supermodel, Looks good on the outside, but inside its ugly, decrepit and weak."

This generation of Nerf sucks. I wish I was a part of the old generation, like when they made the Longshot! Make Nerf bring back the Longshot! Thumbs up if you agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pants did a good job, but I'm going to take it a step further and say specifically that Just Some Bob and TaerKitty are mad lying in their vote about when they started going to outdoor wars organized on NH. I would also like to say that no matter what they do they will never look cool.

Re below: You might notice that there is no name TaerKitty on the list of people who say they started going to outdoor wars organized on NH in 2009. You might also notice that his name is listed on names of people who say they started doing that before 2008. Way to misrepresent data, butthole touchers.

Where is Taer lying about when he started going to organized wars? Taers first war was the SOFail in 09.

Getting back to the topic:
For regular game play the last time I used a Nerf brand as a primary ( without completely gutting the internals ) was last year. I used a singled LS with a Recon integrated underneath it. If I remember correctly I only used it a few rounds then switched it out to my PAS.
Now for Zombie type games I use a lot of the Nerf brand blaster's because of the low range, especially the newer ones.

The last time I used a Nerf gun as a primary was 2007 Apoc. That was when "Civil War" was an Apoc gametype, haha. You can see me run by in the video with that and a nitefinder. However, it wasn't a very successful showing because it was so outclassed at open venues like Deal. So, I went back to max shots and later Max, the maximizer. When he tragically blew himself up, I used a PAS and finally switched over to homemade only.

I'd say that personal preference and the changing Nerf scene influenced my avoidance of Nerf brand blasters over the years. It was easier to experiment in the speedloader era and pick the primary that was the most fun to use. Lever-action speedloader guns like the max shot and maximizer were just plain fun. Nerf's offerings were just meh. My longshot also chewed through darts the way hoppers do now. When I chose Max, I didn't even need to bring 100 darts to a war, it was great. That thing was also well-suited to survive the higher ROF, RSCB era and there was no reason to switch, just like how my PAS was well-suited to survive the pump action, hoppered homemade era. These blaster selections allowed me to linger in the past technologies that I still found fun, while most everyone else moved on. I guess you could say that the crossbow could have provided a stable option throughout, but again, personal preference. I never wanted one because so many people wanted one, at prices not worth competing for.

Even if Nerf gets its act together and produces dependable, easy to mod, high potential primaries, I couldn't see myself going back to them at this point. They'd have to top the Rainbowpump. Right now, I am perfectly matched with this blaster, the way I was with Max in 2008 and 2009. Blasters like the Alpha Trooper were fun in college HvZ and hallway wars, but not for most NIC wars.

Actually, I just remembered that I used a pair of AT3Ks at a BFNY once. However, I don't remember which one it was other than being really early. I think it was before the bees and it was definitely before I started using Max.
