Well, Langley asked me to put this tutorial up for those of you having trouble putting pictures on this site.
In order to put pictures on Nerfhaven, you have to use a Image hosting site. (Such as Photobucket or flickr or whatever site you want to use.) In this example I will be using Photobucket. Photobucket is a free Image hosting site that is very easy to use. You have to have a IMG code to post a picture in your post. This should show you how to do it very easily.
Easiest way to do it is like this:
1. Join Photobucket, or other photo hosting site.
2. Upload pictures to your account from a SD card, or the Photobucket app if you have a smartphone or something like it.
3. Click the code that says "IMG" and paste it into your text, starting a new line every time you post a new photo.
4. I will demonstrate.

After you've joined and uploaded pictures to your album, you will get that.
Click on the photo you want to get this.

Again, just copy and paste the IMG code into your text like this.

That's what it will look like. Make sure to hit the enter key and paste your image code in a new line every time you add a photo.
That should explain it, if not, PM me and I should be able to explain it to you.
This should also end all future threads on how to upload Photos.

The more the merrier (except if you're a 10 year old with a foam sword. In which case - the fewer the better)

Here are some of the more popular photo hosting sites:

Flickr
PhotoBucket
Imgur
ImageShack
Smugmug
TinyPic

Flickr and PhotoBucket are by far the biggest of these, and will probably be reliable hosts for many more years. It is also possible to use Facebook as a host, but you need to make the picture public.

Hey, I hate to dig up an old topic, but I didn't want to start another thread for asking something really minor.

How do I upload an image but keep it from blowing up the post? It seems like images always have such high res that they become cumbersome and uncomfortable to view.

There seems to be no setting on this forum that limits the size of the image, or at least turns it into a thumbnail.

NH's forum software will shrink the images to fit, though they can still look very oversized on some screens.

The method I would recommend is to use the "large thumbnail" version of the photo on imgur. That's on the right-hand options column, near the bottom. It will resize your pictures down to 640x480:

Rather than being gigantic like the original:

Wow, I had no idea Imgur had such settings. I learned something new today. Thank you!
