Okay folks, it’s time to put your pledges where your mouths are. We’ve begun a Kickstarter campaign to help fund these rockets for large volume blasters. Kickstarter will give us the ability to easily keep track of the interested parties, their level of actual interest, and acquire all of the funding directly.

Posted Image

It works like this: If you are interested in helping create a source for rockets, then pledge whatever "donation" you would like. There are varying levels of rewards based upon the amount you decide to give, from as little as $5 all the way up to, well $100 was the highest level reward we created, but hell, if you give more than that, I'll make it worth your while. Think of it like a pre-sale, but in a way that doesn't charge ANYONE ANYTHING unless the donations meet the minimum required. This minimum is $575, which covers the bulk order of the supplies and fees for the Kickstarter service.

The rockets are designed to work directly with Nat-Geo/Uncle Milton RotoRockets, Iron Man Rocket launcher, and Estes Air Rocket launcher with little modification. Using a stock OPRV pressurized Roto-Rocket, the rockets will fly 60-70 feet. Higher pressures naturally produce longer ranges.
With a properly sized (1.00" OD) barrel, they are also able to be fired from Titans, Jobars, Cobras, and likely anything else that is ridiculously large. I will be making some screw-on replacements for Titans available as well.

Now, a note for the kids: Don't think that just because you don't have your own credit or debit card you cannot be involved. As a parent, I know that I would give a hard look at helping my kid support something that they were really interested in. Please talk to your parents and have them take a look at the Kickstarter service. It is all about protecting everyone involved as much as possible. There has been a lot of positive press about them lately too.

It won't take a lot of money to make this happen for the community. If everyone who voted that they would buy reasonably priced rockets in the poll pledged even $5, we would be mostly to the goal in a very short time. I will also be posting this information on other nerf sites because this is not just a Nerfhaven gig. We want to bring these awesome rockets to the whole community. Please, if you have any questions, let me know. I will be posting more pictures and hopefully a video soon.

This is a longshot, but if we don't meet the minimum requirement, will money be refunded? And also, I hope Paypal works, because I'd love to give for this wonderful cause! :D

It appears that straight Paypal transfers are not supported by Amazon's payment system, which is what Kickstarter uses. However, Paypal does offer Visa debit cards which you could then use to support us. I do have my own Paypal account and do use it regularly for sales and purchases here. I am just not sure how to make that show up in the funding.

He said in the OP that he'll be doing it. I think it's better that he does it so he can update the OPs in all the threads when he has new data, instead of proxying it to others who did the reposting.

I don't see him mentioning it, but there is a deadline on Kickstarter for the funding goal. I don't know if he can change it later on, but at time of this writing it's 2012-04-22.

Lemme post the announcements, as TK said. Just in case I need to update info. Anywhere other than NREV, NHQ, IRC? I would appreciate suggestions greatly.

Not really. The noses are soft enough that even with an over pressurized shot from a foot or two away, it is mildly uncomfortable. Sort of like taking a soccer ball to the chest.

Urban Taggers? (j/k)

Seriously, though:

- the two Nerf FB pages - 'NERF' (all caps) and 'Nerf Modders Welcomed'

- Is Foam Universe still viable? If you want to consider shipping them overseas, then maybe OzNerf and NerfSG?

- There may be some other Nerfers of reknown and good repute, such as Jerm.

Jilliop seems like Kickstarter directs you amazon and amazon holds on to your card info and charges it $1 to make sure its real or something then charges the rest of the amount after kickstarter reports that the minimum amount Draconis set has been reached.

At least thats what I just went through.

In for the $25 package. Thank you Draconis, I really hope this succeeds.

So I'm still slightly confused and please enlighten me if this information has been presented already.

Why do you need nearly $600 to make nerf ammo?

Are you trying to 'arm' the NIC with oversized ammo or are you trying to turn a profit? I'm having a hard time seeing how each one of these would cost approximately the $4.00 in materials that you're selling them for.

The sleeves and noses for this design require bulk orders. Seriously, I will end up storing a crap load of tubing forever.

This cost also reflects the fees instituted by Amazon and Kickstarter, to the tune of about 10%. And my time, which even without the work I will be required to put in if this funds, is already worth very little. Lastly, this cost reflects the shipping costs for each batch of rockets to each participant. Mostly. I may still end up in the hole.

More, undoubtedly. Keep in mind that the rewards are including shipping within the US. One thing I would like to point out is that if this Kickstarter campaign doesn't get funded, then there will not be sales of the rockets later. The startup costs are too great for me to justify taking that kind of money away from my family. If you are interested in rockets, then now is the time to become involved.

I'm in for 100$.

That's interesting. Someone matching your name added a $100 pledge, then increased it to $500, then cancelled it altogether.
