normal rayvens are somewhat limited. they can get good ranges, but aren't that reliable at those modification levels. my aim here is to make a mod that is reliable.
THUS i have devised this:
The two-stage Rayven mod. it uses 1 flywheel/motor set from a stryfe and upgraded motors to replace the rayven motors.

materials and tools used in this mod:

-dremel
-hobby knife
-soldering iron
-pliers
-side cut nippers

-extra barrel from something like an alpha trooper or longshot front gun
-2 aftermarket motors
-motor and flywheel assembly from a stryfe
-jst plug pigtails (female)
-high strand-count wire
-superglue
-1 microswitch from donor stryfe
-solder

be sure to trim internal plastic and some of the upper casing to allow for clearance (you need a dremel to trim holes in the left side half of the blaster shell and pliers and nippers to trim around all the plastic that is int he way of your new set of flywheels) don't try to trim it all at once. you want it to fit snugly so only trim until the parts fit snugly. you want friction to somewhat hold the parts in place.

wire up your blaster using the high quality wire and solder, check all the clearances and close up the blaster.

figure out our battery mounting solution, then you're all set. this is the result that i've come to, which is stable, and shoots very hard.

Ben meaning to make an afterburner system for awhile, me thinks you have inspired me to quit being so damned lazy.

Nice work, my only complaint is you didn't switch the Rayven trigger mech to run with an extension spring.

there wasn't any issues with the compression spring for the trigger mechanism, so i saw no need to fix that. yes, an extension spring would be a little bit better, but not by an appreciable amount for me.

i'll chrono this blaster later this week along with my longshot at my airsoft friend's house.

This is a nice mod. I'm really looking forward to the chrony readings. If there's a high boost in performance, then ill add it too the list of mods to do to my rapidstrike.

Does this mod really help though? I would think the dart would lose all its initial velocity when it hits into the front motors, but i could be wrong.

Or hell, Spiderbite has sweet deals on this stuff now, so there's really no reason not to Rainbow.

that's why i'm going to do a chrono reading of it. the concept is that the rear flywheels throw the dart into the front flywheels at a higher starting speed than a trigger would, and from that, the final velocity can be pushed higher with less stress to the motors and less flywheel friction.

i used 54t armatures in a pair of atomicRC High efficiency ball bearing motor cans for the front motors, regular elite motors in rear.
extra barrel is to keep the darts exiting relatively in the same vertical plane (vs no barrel, which i've noticed has a large amount of vertical variance)

EDIT: i've added a 19/32 inner barrel of brass for the first barrel section. hopefully this makes feeding to the second flywheel more consistent.

alrighty, chrono'd in at 125-134 fps for the rayven
longshot chrono'd at 170-175 fps

For the chrono results from the Longshot, what mods were done? Just to help give a better understanding of the comparison.

The barrel extension is always on. blaster doesn't function without it.
about the longshot, the longshot has a brass barrel, partial brass bolt, xplorer boltsled reinforced with aluminum plates, deadspace fill, orange modworks LS psring and blacktactical LS spring(combined), and a barrel polish. i estimate a bolt seal of around 80-85%%
