I heard that he actually tossed HIMSELF into a vat of acid in order to prepare for the roll, but that it just made him really sad and tired.

That would be two-face.

But seriously, people say that I'm a dick for thinking that it's good that the shooting for batman got finished before he Heath died. But he was supposed to be amazing at the role of the Joker. It's good that they didn't have to trash the footage they had of him because he died before they could shoot the end.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

The really old dude from Lord Of the Rings died between filming or #3, and they just got another actor to do the next parts, so I think they'd do the same.

The actor who played Albus Dumbledore died after the first or second movie and was replaced by the guy who played Gandalf in LOTR.

um... no he wasn't.

"In the film adaptations of Philosopher's Stone (2001) and Chamber of Secrets (2002), Dumbledore was played by Richard Harris, who was expected to play Dumbledore throughout the series. However, his death in 2002 of Hodgkin's lymphoma placed Michael Gambon in the role for Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Goblet of Fire (2005), Order of the Phoenix (2007), and Half-Blood Prince (2008).

Harris mentioned that he was originally not going to take the role either, since he knew his own health was in decline. He accepted because his then-10-year-old granddaughter threatened never to speak to him again if he did not take it." Thank You Wikipedia

Nope. The "new" Dumbledore is Michael Gambon. Gandalf (in LOTR) was played by Ian McKellan.

Edit: Bags (sort of) beat me to it.

No cock-sucker, Two-face was scarred with acid tossed into his face (this is different in several retconned storylines, but never involves a vat). The Joker, as the red hood, fell into a vat of acid (he would argue he was pushed) creating his altered facial expression and pigmentation. Don't correct me when you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about asshole. I will split your skull like a coconut and shit on your brain!

Did you actually just confuse Tolkien with that hack cunt? Are you trying to anger me?

In the Animated series he was unconscious and half hanging off a catwalk suspended over a huge vat of chemicals, which exploded. More proof that the Animated series came up with more badass origin stories despite being on the fox network and coming on after "eek the cat".

The animated series certainly had its moments, but it represented no manner of cannon. Harvey dent was disfigured by a vile of acid to the face while prosecuting a crime boss. Joker, as the red hood, fell into a vat of acid while being persued by batman. And to tell me that the origins found in the animated series are better than anything written in comics is just silly. Go read Year One, or Long Halloween.

"The Killing Joke" says that the Joker fell into the waste vats of the Ace Chemical Processing Plant. I don't know if chemical waste counts as acid, but it may. However "The Killing Joke" is not an official part of the Batman universe, but it is widely accepted as the origins of the Joker. You may also want to read "The Man Who Laughs" if you can find a copy. The Long Halloween was good, but I'm not to big into mysteries.

How the fuck is the Killiing Joke NOT a part of official cannon. Barbara Gordon is shot and paralyzed in Killing Joke - she's still paralyzed in EVERY BATMAN COMIC. Asshole.

The point is, fuck Heath Ledger. Only and idiot would take sleeping pills to cure Insomniatic Pneumonia w hich, according to these boards, he had.

You're talking semantics now. Chemical waste, acid, he fell into a vat of hazardous liquids, and you knew what I meant. As far as being an official part of the batman universe, Detective Comics #168 (1951) gave the first account of his origin as having being dropped into a vat of "chemical waste" as well. The killing joke altered some of the details surrounding and leading up to the drop, but did not create the transformation plot device. Sooooo.....yeah, fuck off.

I never said all of the origins in the animated series were better than anything written in the comics, although Mask of the Phantasm is probably the best Batman film produced aside from Begins. It's no Year One though. I was thinking more along the lines of Harley Quinn, who was introduced in the cartoon, and Mr Freeze, who was largely a campy gimmick up until then.
I haven't gotten around to Long Halloween yet, still making my way through No Man's Land.

I agree with you that the animated series revamped some aspects that the comics did not really do justice to. Long Halloween is very good until Loeb falls into his usual pitfall, which is that he can't write endings.

As a nerd, I agree with VACC. The joker was the red hood and he swam through a vat of acid to escape a crime, ON PURPOSE. When he removed his mask later, he realized what happened.

NERD ON!

EDIT: I am aware that the Joker's origin was in a Batman feature in Detective Comics.
