Feeling down about reverse plungers? Well wipe off that frown, for I have created a way to bypass the terrible Nerf system!

Materials needed:
Deploy x1
Nitefinder x1
Assorted small springs
Dremel x1
Hacksaw x1
cpvc coupler x1
cpvc
Hot glue gun x1
Hot glue
Assorted o-rings
Electrical Tape
Knife x1

First, you are going to need to open your nitefinder and remove the plunger tube.

Cut it like so:

Remove the air restrictor spring rest, as well as the screw ports that kept the plunger tube in the nitefinder shell.

Now take the Deploy spring rest, cut off the screw port that used to keep it in place, slip it over one end of the plunger tube and glue it on.

Next, you want to cut off part of the original plunger about 6.2cm from the priming bar rest. Now add 2.5cm of cpvc to the end using whatever glue you like.

It should look like this:

To prime the blaster, I used half of a cpvc coupler.

Cut it like so:

Now give it a few wraps of electrical tape and put on two o-rings.
Posted Image

The one in the front should be slightly smaller.

Now put that piece in your plunger tube and attach it to the section of cpvc from earlier.

To have the plunger tube stay in the shell, pull the coupler as far to the front of the plunger tube as it will go.

Now place the whole assembly in the blaster, with the flat part of the deploy's spring rest pointing up.

Use epoxy putty around the flat part like so:

Cut the handle off of the nitefinder plunger rod and insert it in to the assembly. You should not be cutting off any more than the handle.

To place the catch, you want to cut off the entire catch area in the nitefinder, including the spring rest.

Cut off the piece that the spring in the Deploy's stock wrapped around.

Proceed to glue the nitefinder catch piece in the Deploy's stock, 6cm from the back of the main part.

It should be around here:

So that you can add springs to the catch, you want to drill holes that allow you to reach the screw ports.

Like this:
Posted Image

Now to make this blaster actually fire!

Cut off the deploy's trigger ramp and move it far enough back that it is touching the new catch.

Put a nitefinder ammo holder under the trigger ramp to support it
Posted Image

Now just add some extra springs around the trigger to push it back in to position.

Adding that orange piece over the trigger arm just helps keep it in place.

You have finished! Prepare to strike fear into the hearts of you foes with your new Deploy!

Edit: It does still accept clips.

Very nice! Maybe I could do the same thing to my longstrike, make it war-worthy!

Very nice. I would have done it differently, bit I'm just wierd like that.

Um, you have a lot of hot glue, and you are trying to use it as a primary adhesive. Hot glue is really just plastic with a little bit of glue in it, so that it stays stuck. This isn't healthy, especially on stress areas, so you may want to consider re-gluing most of it with a 2-part epoxy or superglue. Superglue would get you the same build speed as hotglue, and you wouldn't need to let it cool.

This is an innovative piece of work, and I'd hate to see it explode.

While you're in there, you might as well add an angel breech, it can handle one now, as well as a spring, I would suggest an ace#49.

Does it still take clips?

Thanks for the input!
A stronger adhesive is a good idea, as well as the angel breech and spring replacement. Sadly, brass and springs are unavailable where I live. However, I would be very interested to see these put into action.

This looks good, though a firing video would be nice.

Once I get my power pills built, the recon that the first one will be put in will have some sort of full breech, and will use an ace 49 for the spring. It's essentially this, but with a homemade NF.

I found brass at my local do it best, you can get springs there or at an ace, you just have to find the section.

Reverse plungers are the worst thing to happen to nerf guns in the history of nerf guns. I currently have 3 broken reverse plungers, and the only modifications that caused them were simple AR removals....

I really appreciate that you're looking for ways to integrate normal plunger tubes into a gun that uses the reverse plunger in stock form. Can't wait to see the growth of this idea so that clip system guns other than the longshot can become usable guns

Unfortunately, here in Canada, or at least in Alberta, there are no do it bests. I do appreciate your help though.

Depending on where in Alberta you are, there is a 'Great Hobbies' in Edmonton that does sell brass.

Thanks! Edmonton isn't too far from my city, so I will have to check that out sometime.

I've been nerfing for two years now, and although I've managed to find most of the common modding materials, it would've helped a lot if someone had told me where the stuff was. Ask some other people near you where they get stuff, and you should be good. Mcm is good, but only if your parents are cool with you buying stuff online, or you're no longer living with your 'rents.

Thanks for the tips. I will have to see where everyone else around me gets their materials.

On topic..

Great work. The Deploy is the perfect sized shell to do this to. I've tried doing the same thing using an Exploders plunger tube and a homemade catch... So far, no go. The Deploy just frustrated me so I shoved it in a plastic bag and threw the whole thing in a, "I'll do it later", box.

Keep going. There are many examples of plunger-tube-replaced Nitefinders. Who knows, maybe once you perfect this process and if it can be applied to all the other RP blasters, It'll be named after you. "I Nined my Longstrike" or.. "I have an Angel Breeched, Nine Tubed Recon."

All an all, not bad at all.
