Dart Attack's Longshot sidearm integration
EDIT: It's finished!
The integrated gun doesn't have a trigger plate, so to fire, you just pull back and let go.
(one day I'll get around to rigging the firing mechanism to the main trigger)

Hi,

I just have a quick question about those Long Shots there. How far are your guns shooting? Please, this goes to all of you who showed off your sweet Long Shots. I'm just curious to hear from different people.

All of you have great paintjobs. DT, I like the Double Shot's colors. Very unique! I also like that black and white LS, hikaru.

Mine gets 90 feet after adding a secondary spring and replacing the plunger head. You can read more about ranges in the various Longshot modification threads. I never bothered to make a barrel replacement, but if I did so 100+ feet wouldn't be too difficult to reach.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Finished my longshot paintjob. Although I haven't added a front slide cocker to this, I did get the range up to about 80-90ft, and I'll experiment with other mods on my next one. Enjoy.

I know its bad,

We must have a lot of Warhammer players here. This just REEKS of skilled drybrushing.

Mad props. The longshot really takes well to the weathered look. I like.

Just for the record, I do believe Direct Threat (in my opinion) does the best weathered paintjobs I've ever seen.

Thanks much :)

Yeah, I spent about 10 years perfecting a paint technique due to warhammer. A lot of people mistook this for a dark angels bolter apparently. I appreciate all the postitive feedback I'm getting from this. This one was actually a commission I just finished, so I really have no clue where to start with my own. Lots of drybrushing, highlighting and inking, and I like the finished look.

Question to direct treath: did you use regular warhammer paint and how many cans did you need, warhammer paint is expensive you know.

This is a picture of my disclaunching light machine gun (lmg). Sorry for the bad picture.

My disc launcher pistol/smg.

Before i modified these they looked exactly the same :)

since you guys liked nerf things painted with warhammer paint, here is a rapidfire tek barrel which is painted with chaosblack and dry brushed with boltgun metal. Not even close to being as pretty as direct threats work but anyway :P

That particular longshot paintjob went for $80, and most of my mavericks go for $40-$50, though I'll probably end up haggling here and there in the future.

Some people here have done amazing paintjobs...
I am going to preplan my modifications well, so that I can paint the pieces BEFORE putting the gun together. Although my paintjobs won't be as pretty as the others here, it will be a major improvement over my last few paintjobs.

I hope it will look cool when its done - youll get to see my guns when I am finished.

Man... I wanna learn how to do that weathered look. Those are without doubt some of the most awesome looking guns in the history of the planet. Simply superb job, especially you, Direct Threat. I am sorry to say that I'm not super crazy about that particular color scheme, but the weathering effect is wonderful.

Now I'm discouraged, though! I know my guns are gonna look like crap. Absolutely incredible, how you did that. Absolutely incredible.

Don't fret, I've been painting this kind of stuff for over 10 years now, so I have a bit of experience under my belt. I'm sure you'll be great with some practice.

Although the gun isn't painted yet, as it just finished modification, this is also a mod picture thread, so here we are:

Posted Image

Don't y'all just love that old gun?
The gun unmodded is great out of the box - although it uses a now non-existant dart size. Strangely, its older yet much better than the nightfinders these days.

Before the mod, it could get to over 50 feet, but after the mod it hurts like hell if you get hit at close range, and by range testing in my house I determined that the range is between 70-85 feet or more. Of course, my house isn't 80 feet long, so I shot it at one end, and saw where it hit. I used the general parabolic flight of a nerf dart to determine that it would have landed over at least 60 feet away outside, 60 being below the lowest plausible range.

EDIT: I forgot to say, the gun is full after 3 pumps, but has good ranges at 2 pumps

Okay, after testing ranges, it gets an average of 73 feet when fired straight, and 78 feet at a 35 degree angle. Its pretty good, for a gun that has such a small pressure chamber and a partly broken pump.

I couldn't go outside because its 10:30pm, pitch black outside, rainy, below zero degrees, and the gun is incredibly loud...
I'll try outside tomorrow.

Heres another gun - its a bit heavier than a normal nightfinder, but it has better accuracy and ROF (due to the darts being ON the gun itself).

Not to be an asshole but can anyone else see anders cocking the gun while he's looking through the scope and that rod comes out and nails him in the face? It made me have a good laugh. Maybe I am just looney from lack of sleep. Cool mod for a youngin though. Anders is that your brother or something you look alot younger than 15.

I used a mirror for the picture because there was one right against the wall on my basement floor, beside the desk where I was doing the modding. And I wanted to show the thickness of the gun as well as the profile, in one picture.
I think its better to see nerf guns against a mirror so you can understand its dimensions better.

The ranges is quite bad around 36feet. But it was very easy to mod. All i had to do was to saw of the turret and add some cpvc barrels.

If you can, try replacing the spring. The Tek Six is capable of decent ranges (in the Maverick Ballpark). You just have to work with it a bit.
