Ok, Did anyone notice that the longshot clips are yellow and this Rc's clips are orange? The longshot clips have a little extra space between the end of the darts and the end of the clip. The Rc's clips may be SLIGHTLY smaller.

Or... It could simply be that they used a DIFFERENT COLOR PLASTIC in their Injection Molder... just a Thought... a logical one.

Great thread OMC. Thanks for heads up.

Here's my size estimate, assuming the clip is the same size as the LS, posted on my Blog, Dragonfly Views.

I'm also working a mini-booklet presenting some thoughts on where I think Nerf Wars should head. It started as planned post for Nerf Haven and took on a life of it's own. i think guys here will enjoy it. I hope to finish it soon.

I wonder why Hasbro has released many air guns as of late. But the new gun looks awesome kinda. I wonder if there will be different packages like, just the pistol and a clip, and then the whole shebang.

They haven't released many new air guns as of late because they just want to keep milkin' the N-Strike line.It appeals to younger kids and it sells well, so why fix what ain't broke. (I pesonally could go for a new line of guns though)

I hope we will see some air guns in the N-Strike line because I think it's a nice line. Also what line was the UPS set in?

No, the plunger assembly in the LS is twice as long as this pistol.

This gun looks pretty good.

Now to reminise about the good old days.

"start old man voice" I tell you sonny, back in my day you were lucky to get 50 out of a sidearm so all of you should stop being little girls and do some close quarters combat. Also if you think this thing is a big pistol try using a Dt3. "end old man voice.

No, it's not. Just compare the Recon (with out the fake barrel and laser) to the Longshot Carbine mod. it looks exactly the same. I'm guessing that the only difference is the way that the plunger catches on the Recon (since the stock is removable).

Ok, so then it'd be all of the goodies of the longshot that fills up that monster squeezed into the pistolesque Recon. Here's hoping Hasbro figured out how to do that.

Are you fucking serious? That blaster, in no way, shape or form is anything like a pistol. Seeing as how big the clip is, compared to the body, it's almost the same size as the Long Shot (Without all of the useless dead space, such as the entire front half, and the stock) To me, it seems as though Hasbro has simply made the empty parts of the Long Shot removable with the Recon.

I was speaking of the center part with all of the attachments removed since they house nothing important. without all of that crap on it, it is similar to a pistol hence the usage of "pistolesque"

you basically expressed my point while making me look stupid at the same time.

Here's my prediction: I'm going to throw my computer out the window if everyone keeps making rash opinionated assumptions about what the gun is going to be like. All we have is a couple of pictures, and we don't even know if Hasbro is going to change the design to this gun before they release it. Everyone should just stop speculating about the plunger size, or how flimsy the stock is, or how it compares to the Longshot, just wait till it comes out. I'm sure modifications will do it justice just like any other gun and you can all love it or hate it then.

It's an accessory, you can remove it if you'd like, but yes, it does attach to the cocking handle. I know that when I get mine, I'm not gonna keep that on, It would become very annoying.

Man, it's hard to believe that you could have longshot power in a a NF or Maverick sized pistol! Plus a clip on a pistol! Man, it's gonna be sweet!

It won't be as powerful as a Longshot if it's the size of an NF. A Longshot's plunger tube alone is longer than an uncocked NF.

It looks like a Disk Shot with some extra shit thrown on it. Hopefully it will be a decent gun but I'm not buying one until we know something about them. Thanks for the news.

When I first looked a the pictures of the new CS-6 I was stoked for the release of a new primary then as I read through the posts I felt less and less excited as everyone down-talked the length of the cocking action. However, assuming that the LS clip and the RC clip are the same size, we don't need to worry too much about the length of the cocking action. The slot for the cocking handle on the LS is only 3/8" longer than the LS clip (11.5% longer). According to the estimates given thus far the sliding action on the RC is roughly 17% (jwasko) to 24% (rambo) longer than the RC clip. Keeping in mind that the catch will most likely engage before the slide is 100% flush with the end of the track, it would not be unreasonable to assume that the cocking action on the RC is also around 11.5% longer than the clip. So, assuming (and this is a major assumption) that the LS and RC clip are of equal length, Hasbro may very well be releasing a LS pistol or in other words, a CLIP FED PISTOL WITH PRIMARY-WORTHY RANGES!!!

So to sum up the point of this post:
THE COCKING ACTION LENGTH FOR THE LS AND RC MAY BE EQUAL!!! This excites me!

Amen.

Well, a clipped NF isn't too bad. Should be good in pistol wars.

I just found out that you can pre-order the Recon CS on Amazon. It says it doesn't get released till mid December. Anyone who really wants this can pre-order it for about $25 w/o shipping. Not bad considering it's cheaper than the Longshot.
