Warning: Math Content!

However, if someone would kindly measure the length of their LS mag (in inches or millimeters, doesn't matter) then multiply by 17 and divide by 14.5, we'll know the length of the plunger chamber.

Ok, here is the measurements:
Length in millimeters of ls mag: Approx. 80mm
Length of plunger chamber: 93.8mm, rounded.

I did jwasko's calculations and I came out with the following measurements:

Plunger tube length: 93.793103 (and then my calculator ran out of room) mm's. (9.3 cm)

the length of the entire thing is: 673.10344 ( same thing as before) mm's. (67.3 cm)

The length of the handgun is: 245.517427 mm's. (24.55 cm)

EDIT: Wow, 2 people beat me. So sad.

This is definitely going to be my next Nerf purchase. I already have my modded at2k and two Dart Tag Blasters, yet to be modded, but this thing will add a definite punch to my arsenal.

Also, Hi, I'm new. I'm also just about to go check out if you have an official "Hello, I'm new" thread.

One of you math nerds wanna figure out the total length of this gun? Then compare it to the total length of an LS.

Wait, I'm confused, when it is cocked does the plaunger end come out of the back like an nf?

And if so does that mean you could band it like the nf?

Sorry if this question is retarded, I'm new

Make sure the top of your gun is parallel to the ground when firing.
Finish those other mods so I have something else to read on here.
Now have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. :)

If you were to rubberband this gun, then there would be a good chance the rubber bands would not always stay on when you cock the gun, and you may have to do it manually before each shot. Also, if the plunger goes into the hole in the stock, the rubberbands may make the plunger stick in it, or make it harder to cock the gun.

Ok, so if my calculations are correct, the RC should be about this long compared to a LS:

Posted Image

Note: the gun is just made smaller so you can see the size comparison. The handle, clip and stuff on the RC isn't correct, just the lenght. The black lines are what you should be looking at.

WOW!... anyways that doesn't seen right, *after a quick measurement of the LS and RC* the Ls mag is about 2 mm or 2/16 inch bigger then the RC magazine, just saying.

PS: I just measured it on my monitor.

I know, the comparison was just for length, not total size. So on the picture, the black lines represent how long the gun supposedly is in relation to an LS, and I just added the picture of the RC just for kicks. THE PICTURE OF THE RC IS NOT CORRECT IN SIZE, JUST LENGTH COMPARED TO THE LS.

Haha, sorry OMC. I guess it just means that we're excited for it. We're so spoiled to have an inside man at Hasbro.

Two points:

Chewbacca - Those two pictures are not necessarily, by any means, to the same scale. Therefore, comparing them side-by-side is not the best judge.

jwasko et al. - In the event that the picture OMC has reflects the actual unit, it is obviously not to scale, and your use of the actual LS clip to establish scale doesn't much matter since your initial numbers were flawed. The clip, as shown, is in fact 19.4 mm, not 14.5, and the "slide" is 23.99 mm, not 17. Not that it much matters, as OMC said, it is pure speculation.

Although why would we multiply by 17 and then divide by 14.5? Why not just multiply by 1.1724? :P Only kidding, doesn't matter.

WOW, this gun will be a definite purchase for me. However, I think this gun will get me in a lot of trouble after I paint it!! Contrary to what many people are saying, I think this gun has a lot of primary potential, for 3 main reasons. First off there is the amazing integration possibilities as previously mentioned. The next 2 are based on a couple of "if" statements. If the plunger extends out of the back of the gun, then it could potentially be made to extend all the way to the back of the stock (and possibly past that, for the crazier modders). Next, if the loading system from the clip is very similar to the LS's loading system, there is already a great deal of write ups on how to improve it. Therefore, I think I will take my sweet time modding this gun, so that I can do it justice.

I do agree with a few of the cons on this gun however, but no gun can be perfect when still stock. The stock does look flimsy, but at the same time it would be very easy to fortify. The position of the 'cocker' looks to be a tad awkward for a riffle type gun, but a shotgun grip wouldn't too hard to integrate. I think my biggest concern with this gun, is the 'add-on' crap. If the front barrel is anything like the LS side arm, it will only hinder this gun's performance. However this is another easy modification, especially using OMC's PETG (which rules!!). For purely aesthetic purposes I would take off the potentially good sight system on the top of the gun, and replace it with a LS "scope", because there's already a "laser".

All my mumbo jumbo aside, I think this will be a devastating gun when properly modified, which definitely has an amazingly badass look to it.

This gun looks freaking awesome, and I'm definitely getting one. Hasbro better make extra "packs" of equipment that have different things you can put on it, like a second blaster in place of the laser. That is going to be one sick gun. Hopefully that thin stock is reinforced, otherwise its obviously going to break.

If the barrel set up really is the same as the LS, you can probably fit the LS front gun shell (filled with some better gun) on it.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "to scale." I mean, it's a picture, right? So, even though it's not actual size, all of the lengths should be some fraction of the real lengths. Unless I'm completely missing something, here...

As to our differing measurements, it's probably a difference in monitor size/resolution/ some-other-computer-thing-I-know-nothing-about. "Proof:" If you divide 23.99 by 19.4, you get 1.24, which is quite close to 1.17. I blame the difference in ratios on errors in measurement...or something. In any case, the difference overall would only be an added 0.22" in the length of the slide motion. And that's only good, right?

So, satisfied, Mr. Perfection? (just kidding)

And sorry, OMC, for bringing this up. I just thought that it would give us some perspective on the size of the thing. I didn't expect 3 people to post near-simultaneously with the same info.

That's why NerfHaven is the best.

We have a WHOLE team of "insiders" who are privy to Hasbro's HQ, and believe it or not, they have to exhibit a lot of restraint to NOT tell you guys anything until the Hasbro suits tell them it's okay to pre-release information.

Which, as this thread aptly demonstrates, generates a flurry of busybody activity of speculators, know-it-alls, and excited young Nerfers who do, in fact, get all torqued up about the new releases.

The Disk Shot wasn't that bad, although it wasn't anything to dance about. This will be a pleasant surprise....hopefully maybe for the Christmas season?

OMC = :ph34r: at Hasbro.

Not to be negetive but...
The gun itself without the marvalous accessories is a basic pistol with a clip. Wouldn't that mean the spring is as the size of the Nitefinder? The darts are the same ones as the Longshot right?

I already have an idea on a possible mod. You know those tabs that hold the cocking rod on the maverick? Any more powerful spring breaks them.

So...

What if you drove a wood screw through the return spring, dremelled off most of the threads, and put a nut on the other side? Then it could have a heavier spring without damaging anything.

And the one guy's acclaimed 100' nitefinder mod, if this new RC uses the same basic type of plunger head as the NF, you could also drive a machine screw in the place of the stock plunger head screw, thus allowing it to handle even more power.

This is completely based on speculation and if I know hasbro, some mutilated air restrictor or something will prevent it, but heck, I have enough time on my hands to think of these things.

Ok, Did anyone notice that the longshot clips are yellow and this Rc's clips are orange? The longshot clips have a little extra space between the end of the darts and the end of the clip. The Rc's clips may be SLIGHTLY smaller.

pros:

1. Looks awesome
2. Smaller
3. Customization of parts
4. This+at2k guts=awesomeness
5. Good for assassins

Cons:

1. Looks weak
2. May have limited accessories
3. Pistol form looks bulky (for a pistol)
