I recently purchased a Recon, and when I tried to open it up I noticed there was a metal screw holding the cocking mechanism into the shell of the gun. Could someone please explain to me how to unscrew that, or do I not need to?

You mean the cocking slide? If thats what your talking about then no, its atached from the inside and you dont ned to, but make sure you take off the black box at the back.

Put a screwdriver onto the screw and turn.

Could you post pics? I modded a recon and it was relatively easy to open.

I had a problem with this too. I unscrewed it, but it was a pain in the ass. I threw it onto the carpet and it came open, try throwing it. If you dont want to break it, trying ripping open the shell, it may be glued.

Careful with the slide. I forgot there were screws on it and I literally tore the slide off because it's flimsy as hell. I then realized how stupid I was. I was just going to replace it with a bolt anyways but I still broke the doggone thing. It's tricky.

It's the access hatch, if you're still having problems. Stick a flathead screwdriver and stick it in the crack between the slide and between the chell right behind the acess hatch. then give it a quarter turn. That should wedge it open.
