#293037 Modification and Paintjob Pictures

Posted by utahnerf on 17 January 2011 - 10:46 PM in Modifications

Ultimate Missile Blast, PVC couplered, pump plugged. Picked this up at Target today for $10. The tank is very interesting, it's larger than a Mega Missile tank, but smaller than a BBBB tank. Achieves 115' flat with a 5 dart hopper with a 13" Sch. 80 barrel and 7 pumps. Damn straight homie.

Splitfire with plugged pump and 7" petg barrels. Getting 80s with slugs and 10 pumps. Best garage sale find I've ever had, for 5 bucks I got this, an Sm1k (sold), and a Powerclip, all in great condition.

Oh, and I almost forgot; When I opened the gun, my trigger spring shot out and I couldn't locate it. In place of the spring I currently have a +Bow catch spring. The trigger pull is a bit harder, but it is a good alternative.

Draconis, do you think it would be fine then to replace the front and back side plates on my +bow with UHMW?

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll post pics when I finish.

Does anyone know the best way to get a good, square hole drilled in the nylon rods? I'm having trouble with it and need some advice.

Can anyone tell me how well UHMW would work for a +bow? Is it strong enough? Is it better than polycarbonate? Does it machine well? I was wondering because Split used it on his pumpbows. Also, my scroll saw isn't shitty, so it may machine better in mine. It's a DeWalt.

So, I've been meaning to make my own Plus Bow for a while now, but I don't have any of the needed saws. I was going to buy a band saw, but is a jigsaw needed? Can I just use a band saw? If not, what is a good scroll saw?

Ok, I have a question that some more experienced members could answer:
Is it hard to get close to perfect cuts with a scroll saw? Or would it be better to buy both a band saw and a jig saw? Lastly, what is better for internal cuts, Jig or Scroll? Thanks in advance!

Ok, thanks for the info Lt. Stefan. I have pretty much decided on getting an 18" Craftsman scroll saw on craigslist, NIB.

Edit: I got a fuckin' DeWalt.

That "Special" spade bit that makes drilling out barrels easier can also be found as the OSH brand spade bits. Possibly ACE brand as well.

I have some Ace Hardware spade bits, and they are normal spade bits. I'm not sure if they make the special kind.

Also, I saw these at Lowes not too long ago. They work really well. Very quick and precise. Link

It's totally fine on a Snap for the plunger head to hit the bushing, because if built correctly, the bushing will never be damaged by the force of the plunger. The bushing could only be damaged if the blaster is dryfired. I have accidentally dryfired my Snap hundreds of times, and it isn't showing any wear yet.

I find epoxy putty, when mixed well, is far more durable than a pvc catchface.

Posted by utahnerf on 03 January 2011 - 11:09 PM in Homemades

Figured I'd post my templates of the Rainbow catch. The piece with the 1/2" hole goes in front to align the plunger rod, and prevent the spring from getting caught inside the whole. The back one is 9/16" hole, so you don't need to align the two discs perfectly. Making both of them 1/2" requires you to have the circles perfectly cut, with the center holes, perfectly centered, or you'll create tons of unnecessary friction. Making the back hole bigger gives you larger tolerances.

Here's the link.

Did anyone else get sent to a site that wouldn't let you leave? And no, there were not any naked women.

Edit: or men.

How much more is a RainbowPump?

To make one of mine, which are the only ones I know exist, you are likely to spend at least $90-100 depending on what materials you use, where you order them from, and what quantity you order them in.

Ok, thanks for the info Ryan.

YES. Great work as always Boltsniper, you've outdone yourself. You really did yourself a favor by using hex screws, they are soooooooo much better then Philips.

Magnificant! I so want one for my birthday lol! If there was a price list I missed it but how did you spend on parts?

Parts are one thing, but good lathes aren't cheap either. The one our robotics team uses is a nice one, but not high end by any means. It's MSRP is $1600, but G.M. donated it (Sponsors rule.).

I've played on Steam a few times on my friend's computer, but I'm not sure if my computer is powerful enough. It is a new-ish MacBook Pro, not sure on specs. I think I can run Steam on Bootcamp.

Steam is Mac friendly now too, you'll have to check it for which games have been ported over.

Oh, ok. Thankyous.

#290532 R Series Blasters - Overview!

Posted by utahnerf on 09 December 2010 - 07:31 PM in Homemades

I know Ice used a 1/2" pvc plunger rod, which is why he is in need of a spring, because [k26] and [k25] springs won't nest over 1/2" pvc.

ORLY? Check the specs on the [k25], the ID is 0.952", plenty of space to use 1/2" PVC pipe.

Okay, sorry, I just remember my 1/2" PVC not fitting inside of either [k26] or [k25] springs. I don't know why, it fits over only some of my 1/2" PVC, and yes I am using K25s.

Ok guys, I recently ran out of my old foam, and I want a new supplier. I had been using Bestmaterials.com's "MileHigh" black foam, but I do not like the density (squishy as hell, glue would eat it.). I have also used McMaster foam, but as everyone knows, that foam is expensive. I have never tried Loghomestore foam, does anyone like it? I haven't shopped around for foam in like 2 years. Also, I'm sure they still sell colored foam somewhere in the US, even though it is against the law to keep making it. So please, feel free to divulge your foam shopping secrets, any info is helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps: If anyone knows where Ryan found that pink/reddish foam that he is selling at Ohio Revolution, I would LOVE to know, so much easier to find in grass compared to my black/grey foam.

Nice heads. I imagine that the craft foam would be stronger than felt, and more waterproof. Does the hot glue melt the craft foam so that the heads bond well?
