#27620 Co2 Auto
Posted by pigeon4 on 03 June 2004 - 07:42 AM in Homemades
I've got an idea on firing using CO2.
Basicly, this is an idea i got while looking at a Tompson sub-mechine gun (tommy gun). I dont know alot about CO2... so this is just a guess.
Picture here
The Black thing that kinda looks like a CO2 tank is a. . . .You guessed it! A co2 tank!
In back of it is a spring
In front of it is a bar going throgh the PVC. Attached to it is a rod/pole.
Then some fittings to reduce the size of the PVC down to 1/2".
Next is two 90* 1/2" elbows.
Then comes the barrle, with some kinda magazine on top of it.
I'm not sure how the mag will work. . . this is just my idea about firing repeted shots of CO2.
---
What happens is the CO2 tank is pushed forward by the spring. The Rod/pole presses the pin on the CO2 tank releasing the CO2. The CO2 travels throgh the elbows to the barrel and launches the dart. The force of the CO2 being released blows the tank back and compreses the spring then to whole cycle starts over again.
It's just an idea...
What do you think?
I thought this was a rather good concept. I'm going to try to make something similar and I'd like your feedback as to whether you think it'll work or blowup in my face. I'm hoping mine will have a large gravity feed clip and the CO2 cartriage wil be held within 2 1/2 different chambers. One inside another insde a partiale cover. I hope to get my blueprints up soon.
Mine will also have a trigger.

yep, he's got itHe means it is the first shotgun that is actually designed as one, not just able to use ammo that makes it like a shotgun. Not to be trashing you or anything, but it's not the first shotgun. Someone on NH developed a shotgun round, turning any PVC modded gun into a shotgun. This is how to make one: Take FBR, quarter it lengthwise, put a glob of hot-glue on each quarter. The spread is great. So no, it's not the first working nerf shotgun.

BTW, it is upside down in the picture. (just in case you can't figure that out)

mine does that if you use stock darts. you have to use stefans. and if you like this wait until you see my v.2Now, here's the question:
Are the rumors that one dart will shoot fine and the other won't, true? Does one dart get way more range than the other when fired?

it's a balloon pump and if you ever see one like this run. Far and fast. I wouldn't use this pump again unless my life depended on it.Sorry about my earlier post. Now that I've seen a pic, everything is different. You definately did a good job on it. A question I have is, what kind of pump is that? I am cureous as to where you got it.

wow, did you use a regulator? Can you post a picThe issue with the magazine being fed by gravity is that it can easily fault. My magazine design is a similar concept to any magazine fed firearm. Shells (1/2 in PVC) are fed upwards by a spring, whereupon a bolt slides back. When the bolt jams forward, the shell is slipped from the magazine. Then pull the bolt back and presto.I haven't been able to build an extractor claw yet, so I just take the shells out by hand. I hooked this system into my H2 Shell and powered it using Co2 Mini cartridges. It works just dandy. If I can figure out a means of creating sufficient gas to propel the bolt back automatically and a extractor mechanism, then it'd be fully automatic. Whoot!

this isn't helpful and I don't care if I get flamed. As I say on nother forum: It is impossible for me to be a bigger idiot than I already am. I don't take offense to anything easily.three things-OK, right now, I am more determined than ever to make a full automatic nerf gun. or at least one that repeats. Anyway, please post your ideas on the subject here. The only way I can think of is to use co2 and I don't want to without a regulator (expensive and bulky). So, since this is a brainstorming thread, lets brainstorm.
one: be warned, you've got a flame or two coming your way at this rate. see #2, #3.
two: use the search function...next to the little magnifying glass at the top of your page. there have been more topics about this than there have been about paintball(don't even think about it)...and that's quite a lot. i helped you out a little bit
three: no one has ever made an automatic nerf gun. boltsniper (use that name in #2, you'll get nice results), to my knowledge has best homemade as far as ROF goes. if you really want to go back in time, there were two guys on nerfonline who claimed to have made a full-auto nerf gun...it used some sort of microwave reactor and super-ionic-particle-acceleration technology (so they claimed). anyway, they dissappeared for a while, one of showed up again years later and was flamed to death. end of story.
Now, back on topic, I know about boltsniper although I've never heard of the microwave guys. I am also aware that one (a homemade) has never been built.
Duh, I WANT TO BE THE FIRST, Thats why it says "automatic brainstorming (<keyword) thread" instead of "building an automatic". I made this thread in hopes that people would post their ideas and I would find one, or a combination that worked and try it.
Now, can we all please stop discussing the microwave guys as I have no intention of building a microwave powered machin gun. That is, unless it shoots hotdogs. Ok, so, lets try to get bac on topic.

OK, I don't care if I'm the first. I just want an automatic nerf gun. And I know how to use the search function. They have it on all 13 forums I'm a member of. I'm just lazy.Dude, you will never be first as long as I have anything to say. You can check out my thread, though. Since you seem to not understand the search function, this will give you a chance to figure it out. Search "nerf auto." Make sure you choose to search 'all topics' before you run it.

Awww, I don't like you eitherIf you're going to be going on a spring powered design, it's not going to be automatic, and gatling guns are very primative automatics. I suggest you decide what you want to do. Do you want a semiautomatic or an automatic. Will you be using spring, compressed air, or co2? Get the basics down and give some vauge idea of what you want to create. Try not to let other people brainstorm and then steal their ideas. Thats dumb and you're dumb and I don't like you.
This seems like a fine time to throw out an idea I've been thinking about for a while. Why not have a spring gun with a breech that reloads the gun every time you pull the plunger back? A lever system would have to be fabricated, and when made correctly it would go between the plunger shaft and the breech on the front of the gun. When the plunger shaft is pulled back, the breech barrel thing goes foreward enough to let a dart fall from the magazine and then would snap back around the dart. If this was implimented in a BBB, it would enable it to fire with the ROf of a Ratchet blast.
I know this might not help you, but you're not making it very easy so anyone who wants this idea can take it and build it. It would be fun to make it first, but it would also be fun to have the time and money to make it.
That system is what I was planning to make, I just don't know how,but I have a lot of free time on my hands so I'll epeiriment with it and try to draw up plans.

thats actually my next project. It'll be double barrel tho.I tried to use one of those ballon pumps once with a ball valve and barrel and I didn't work at all, i think it has something to do with the pump being made for a air tank that expands like a bladder or balloon, anyway cool gun just a little big.
here's my idea for a small folding barrel shotgun (sorry it's so hard to read, I can email you a better copy if you want. I have two of those two shot shells and they fit perfectly into a 1 in. pvc barrel. You can pump it up with a bike pump or attach a bike Co2 thing like this, I have one and they work great, you just go through a lot of them fast.
Could you go into a little more detail about the distance each dart shoots? Such as, does one barrel shoot its darts alot further than the other one? Or do the last darts just kind of flop out, while the other ones go an acceptable range? If you have time, try putting more darts in one barrel than in the other and see if the one with more doesn't shoot out it's last shots.
I believe I already ansewred this but oh well. Both barrels get the same distance as long as I use stefans. If I use stock darts ony one will fire and thats why I made the single barrel adaptation. The ranges will suck to you but I think they are decent. 20-30 ft. Anyway. I had planned to use it as an assualt weapon anyway. So it won't matter to me. I think I get poor ranges just because the stupid pump I used doesn't work worth a flip. I hope I answered your questions

I'll try to get some pictures or mine up soon. It won't be painted or have any balsa wood on it, but you'll at least see where I'm going. The plunger is whats holding me back. I was working on my loser rifle tonight, and it dawned on me that the way I was originally planning to make my plunger wouldn't work. I was going to make it a little different from yours. Your diagram shows a 1/2" SCH 40 PVC Coupling as the plunger , but my couplings don't fit inside of the 1". Are you like really skilled with a dremel or something? Either way, I'll try to get pictures of what I have done up soon.
I must agree again, the G36 is awesome. If the XM8 goes well, it may be a future project. I can't decide which I like better though, the G11 or the G36.
