#78304 Which Crossbow Mod To Do?

Posted by Bernoulli on 01 April 2006 - 02:36 PM in Modifications

Hey, I recently acquired a new crossbow and I've never had one before. I found several different mods online and was wondering which you guys have had experience with and which you recommend and why. I've had some experience modding before so I'm not entirely new to modding. Thanks in advance for the help.

#24514 Wildfire And Secret Shot 1 Mods

Posted by Bernoulli on 19 April 2004 - 04:44 PM in Modifications

My roommate just bought 2 SuperMaxx 3000's (new version), a WildFire, and a Secret Shot 1. I was wondering if there were any mods available for these guns online somewhere or if anyone could give some advice. Thanks!

I'll try to get my hands on that pump... I've got blastfire pieces back at home. Thanks for the suggestion. ^_^

They're brass but I sanded them with 220 sandpaper. Thanks.

I'm wondering if I should offer painting services for nerf guns...

Well, here it is:

#23197 Finished My Sm1500 Copper

Posted by Bernoulli on 01 April 2004 - 08:47 PM in Modifications

Who said it was special?

#23164 Finished My Sm1500 Copper

Posted by Bernoulli on 01 April 2004 - 05:33 PM in Modifications

Well, I made them 7" because my 6" brass+pvc sm1500 ocassionally causes darts to spin out. I resized the pictures too, sorry guys.

#23121 Finished My Sm1500 Copper

Posted by Bernoulli on 01 April 2004 - 05:35 AM in Modifications

Well, I did a rough estimate of the range (roof tiles = 2ft) and it went ~90 feet not counting skips. I'll post some more pics up when I finish painting it and adding the stock. Thanks again.

#23003 Sm 1500 Stock Instructions?

Posted by Bernoulli on 31 March 2004 - 12:04 AM in Modifications

Does anyone know of a site with a mod for adding a Stock (shoulder holder thingy) to an SM1500?

#22988 Finished My Sm1500 Copper

Posted by Bernoulli on 30 March 2004 - 10:59 PM in Modifications

CrazdMonkey: I used 1/2" Type L i think it was. It is the one with the thicker outer wall and slightly smaller inner diameter (compared to the Type M). It did not easily slide into the PVC.. I sort of had to pop it in and then hammer them down. (I also sanded the inside of the end of the PVC with my dremel a tiny bit and it made it easier to pop the copper in. )It made a great fit though, super tight. The foam fits great; I can stick it in with ease and then blow on the barrel to push it all the way down. The barrel assembly is a bit heavy and you can see it does sag a little bit, but I'm gonna tape the ends of the barrels together for a closer fit. I'll test the range on it soon and let you know.

Yeah, I might do that, though I already glued them to the black piece that in the middle. I'm also gonna paint it flat black and the barrels gloss black.

#22930 Finished My Sm1500 Copper

Posted by Bernoulli on 30 March 2004 - 05:50 PM in Modifications

Well, I finished modding my SM1500. I plugged the hole in the pump, swapped the barrels for 1/2" copper inside 1/2" pvc piping (7" long) and this thing is lethal. It shot through cardboard... I have yet to test actual range, but it's looking brutal.

Here are the pics:

#22480 Copper Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 26 March 2004 - 05:45 PM in Modifications

Has anyone tried them? If so, how do they compare to brass barrels?

#22359 Undoing Epoxy?

Eep... alright, thanks.

#22347 Undoing Epoxy?

Does anyone know of a good way to remove epoxy to unglue stuff?

#22299 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 24 March 2004 - 04:27 PM in Modifications

You ordered from that same site?

#22289 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 24 March 2004 - 12:37 PM in Modifications

Maybe, hehe. Though I was dumb and didn't check the brass with the FBR. Now I have expoxy'd brass barrels on my SF and I'm not quite sure if I can remove the barrels...

How could I remove the barrels if I had to? Oh, and how much did 900' cost you?

#22271 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 24 March 2004 - 02:57 AM in Modifications

Whoops, I think the math section of my brain died for a bit there. Sorry. Well, the foam I bought today was 1/2" and I used 9/16" brass. I'll try buying different brands and stuff, and then buy a MASSIVE amount once I find the perfect size, as you said. Thanks. Oh yeah, what type of backer rod did you order?

#22269 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 24 March 2004 - 01:55 AM in Modifications

I used 9/16" brass tubing and the micro stefans fit pretty tightly. It takes a little bit of screwing in to get them in all the way. And then I typically use some sort of ram rod to get it down all the way. I remember that I used 1/2" on my SM1500 a while back and those darts go in nicely, though not as tight as the 9/16". Your mod mentions the 9/16" brass, is that best?

#22245 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 23 March 2004 - 09:52 PM in Modifications

Alright. Thanks ^_^

Oh, where did you get that texture that you printed?

Also, where is/are the hole(s) you are supposed to plug? Is it just one or are there several?

#22185 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 23 March 2004 - 06:13 PM in Modifications

Alright, thanks.

One more thing though, I've been told that WD40 should be sprayed down the barrels to lube up the washers. Anythind else I should do while modding the SF?

#22135 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 23 March 2004 - 02:35 AM in Modifications

Hmm.. here's a quote from his SF mod:

My 1500 has 6" brass barrels that are a bit too short and suffers from mild overpressure problems at 4 pumps. Sounds like 6" x 1/2" barrels would be a great fit for the Splitfire!

I'm thinking I might go around ~7" for the SM1500..

#22039 How Long Should I Make The Barrels?

Posted by Bernoulli on 22 March 2004 - 03:58 PM in Modifications

How long should I make the barrels on an SM1500 w/ brass + pvc (like Cxwq's mod)?

How about on a splitfire w/ brass barrels (Cxwq's mod)?

#21055 Problems W/ Modding Sm1500

Posted by Bernoulli on 10 March 2004 - 05:27 PM in Modifications

Ahhh yes, YakMan's mod does look like on of the ones I used. I'll avoid the Silicon spray this time since I only use Stefans. Thanks for the help.

#21037 Problems W/ Modding Sm1500

Posted by Bernoulli on 10 March 2004 - 01:48 PM in Modifications

Alright, I'll get right to it. One more thing... the mod review I was using (I don't remember who made it but it was fairly popular) was for brass/pvc barrels and it said to use some sort of spray for the brass barrels to make the darts slide through with more ease.. some sort of silicon spray I believe. Should I use that? I remember I sprayed it in and it dissolved my hot glue within seconds.

Thanks again for the help.

Oh, Cxwq, your name looks very familiar.. I think it was yours but the one on this site seems very short compared to what I remember it being.

#20942 Problems W/ Modding Sm1500

Posted by Bernoulli on 08 March 2004 - 11:42 PM in Modifications

Hey, I have an SM1500 (the one without the bottom piece... it looks just like a handgun) and I modded to have the 4 brass + pvc barrels. I did this a while back but I've had problems keeping the barrels on securely. I was wondering what glue I should use because it seems hot glue won't hold well. Also, one of the screws came rounded so I can't really unscrew it to get the body fully open, what do you guys recommend I do? I don't want to break it open... but I need to get inside. Thanks in advance for the help.

Btw, I used to post often on the NerfOnline forums back in the day... I went by SSj2xGohan(i think), I've kind of been out of nerf ever since the forums went down but I'm fixing up my guns again to get back into it.
