Well, look at the ranges on the gun from the link that Skitzo posted... 35 feet. A nite finder can get around 70-80 feet. Don't you think it would be worth it to srounge up five dollars, buy a nitefinder, mod it, and have a kickass sidearm then spend god knows how long searching for a dollarstore gun that can match ranges like that (after mods)? And think about how many dollar guns you would have to go through to find the right one. If you think about it, buying a nitefinder would be cheaper and less work. What do you think?
Its hard to get a nitefinder to hit 80 feet, Ive been modding for quite a while now and mine gets around 60 feet. If you want to mod a nitefinder to get the kind of ranges your talking about then you need to drill out the air restrictors with a drill or dremel. Then add a new beefier spring, reinforce the plunger. Then add a new barrel, and possibly new o rings and bands. Doesn't that sound like a lot of work?
Yes i know that there is the option of modding, yet is it worth it to buy a cheap one and mod or buy a nitefinder. Also i dont have much cash.
In my experience, dollar store guns are cheap pieces of crap that are not realy worth buying. I'd just buy a nitefinder, they're only five bucks and are better than any dollor store gun.
thanks for the help skitzo, what matters most is your modding experiance, in my opinion, if your a new modder you should get one just to help you get experiance to mod a nf. One thing you must watch out for is make sure you get one that is put together by screws because you its not worth prying it open if its not. What I suggest is getting one, you cant go wrong with a buck. As for a decent sidearm, these things arent to accurate.. but I really shouldnt be talking because I dont have the stock darts.
I bought one of these a while ago but it was green and says eliminator on the side. I cut the mag, scope and flashlight off and put a crayola barrel on it. For the size of the plugner tube(very samll)it gets decent ranges. I think mine gets about 30' with stefans.
Could you post a pic with a ruler next to the plunger tube so people can see how small it is?
Yea sure, I have to open the gun tommorow so I will take the pic then. I added a new barrel to it, and am waiting to go to the shop and cut down the mav spring somewhat. It wont stay cocked now because the spring is to long.
My friend had a gun that was EXACTLY like that except painted orange. Does yours have the word "automatic" or "auto" and a fake safety on one side?
This gun seems to have a beefier spring than the gun I modded though. Those are some nice ranges. It won't look half bad when cut way down either, so it has some potential.
Nice mod. It's always good to see shitty dollar store guns getting some attention.
Yes it does have a fake safety, Thanks for the good comments.
Also I think barrel replacement would be possible if you got the right size.
Heres the gun:
Heres the internals, its a lot like a NF:
Heres another shot of the internals:
First thing I did was take out some pesky air restrictors. I did this by sticking a pocket knife blade down and hacking it out.
Next I plied the plunger off because its not screwn on, instead its just plugged on. You cant fit another spring like the one thats on it because theres a blocker. I didnt have much selection so I stuck a mav spring on there. It barely fit inside the uh I think its called plunger shaft.
Here it is:
I stuck the thing back together and screwed everything on, everything fits. I added a band and Ive had this gun along time so I lost all the stock darts it came with, so I made my own homemade darts for it. I used a straw wrapped in paper and a couple 20 gram bbs for the bullet. The thing is the wind always catches it and the dart isnt very accurate. Heres the finished product:
Flat: 35 feet
Angled: 45 feet
I wish I had the stock darts for it, I think this gun has good potential so I am gonna check my local dollar stores and stock up on them. First mod hope you guys like it.
Yes, but what if they are ten feet away. Do you shoot? You just turned a corner and someone is there, what now? Drop the gun? Get Shot? Turn back and hope they dont pursue cause you still can't shoot?
You would not be shooting somebody point blank anyways. That is what barrel taps are for.
He brings up a good point, With a singled titan theres gonna be some serious pain. It also matters what age group your playing with. Say your playing with 10-12 year olds and they get shot and cry, then you have a problem.
I say just take the hit and stop banning guns from wars. If you can not bear to take a welt then maybe Polo is the game for you...
You even said it yourself you used single At2k's and some of those are just as bad as singled titans.
Stop ruining the fun, by banning guns and learn to take a hit.
I agree with you, but if a gun is powerfull enough to shred goggles I don't think it should be used.
You could have tried searching for both guns and comparing ranges.. well anyways longshot will achieve greater range when modded.
Range isn't everything. If you think that way, get out of here and go join a paintball forum. And the longshot does not always out perform the BBB, unless perhaps you mod each of them to their extremes.
So yeah, I voted BBB. Mine is my favorite gun, uber-modded of course. Plus, I think it is a better gun stock anyway, which is what he might of been asking on the first place.
Darn... Winter break is finally over...
Edit: Same time post! Grrr, you beat me by a matter of seconds...
Don't ever tell me to go join a paintball gun, I said it will achieve greater range, which is true, I didn't even state my opinion I stated a fact, so before you jump down my throat look at what I type.
Hmm... falcon, how does a 3k turret sound? Hah, I bet it could be done. This pistol's spring is still not as strong as I think it can be without plunger head damage, so a spring replacement is in order. This gun is available at walmart, some TRU's, and target.
How much are they?
