#302978 Apocalypse 2011 recap thread

Posted by white moonlight on 07 August 2011 - 10:39 PM in Nerf Wars

Awesome war overall. APOC 2011 was by far my best Nerfing experience so far.
Objective rounds made the war in my opinion because Deathmatch definetly gets boring after awhile.

Pros:
+My Nitefinder working flawlessly for the entire war.
+Shooting Lucian over, and over, and over again.
+Objective rounds.
+Buying a Scatterblast
+Had plenty of darts.
+VACC and Langley keeping things moving along.
+Pegging Angel 3 times in a row off the respawn with my Nitefinder.
+Awesome Objective run with Diamondback.
+Buying a SM1.5K
+Shooting Diamondback with his own creation.

Cons:
-Mobstacles didn't stand much of a chance against wind.
-Hydro Cannon/Slingshot Dart Kid.
-No Gunslinger Heaven for me.
-30 Minute McDonalds Service.

Otherwise an overall fantastic war.

It says $25.00 in the thread, but you'd have to ask Whisper to be sure.

I really like this it seems simple enough to do yet outstandingly effective.
I might have to make one... or buy one :D

I've seen this posted on Revolution mmultiple times, and just thought, "Thats a trip to the hospital waiting to happen." Yet this thread has proven me 150% wrong.
I also thought it was one large tank but I didn't know it was... Semi-auto.
This thing is lethal in many ways, and to tell you the truth I'd hate to look down the barrel of it.
Super Soakers are definetly becoming popular...
Nice job.

#265009 Tetra Strike Barrel Replacement

Nice mod, can't wait to get ahold of one.
I know you said the barrels are crooked for more of a spread, but how is the seal from barrels to tank?
Also what order do the barrels fire in?

Very nice job this thing is now a beast.
9/10, (doesn't have the wings...)

Agreed, when are the wings going on? I keep checking this thread, waiting.

I was kinda kidding...
Have you put the other 10ft. of PETG in yet?
I couldn't really tell by the pics.
If this was mentioned I apologize.

#261543 Berserker Fusion! Daikaiju!

I hope you're not going to BCNO with this thing...
This thing is scary and I personaly can not wait to face it on the battlefield.
I would do this but I have yet to succesfully do a ball pump replacement or rearloading.
I haven't tried rearloading, but the ballpumps just one of those things that I can't get right...
Very nice job this thing is now a beast.

#256140 Just Toys 1992 Crossbow.

Posted by white moonlight on 12 November 2009 - 08:25 PM in Modifications

How is this gun so impressive? It's a springer that gets around 100 feet, is awkward to prime and is tiny. Are people just raving over this because it has the word crossbow in it? I mean, there are a lot of springer that get 100+ and are less expensive and less awkward.

I personally like it because...
a. It's easy to mod.
b. There are no complicated mods and it still gets great range.
c. It's new.

So it's not neccesarily the best gun, and we don't like it because it has crossbow in the name we like it because
of ab&c.
I really like it's new turret, good job on that.

#255610 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 07 November 2009 - 04:56 PM in Modifications

Not bad at all. A couple months ago, I aquired a pumpless LB, so I did something along the lines of this. I then switched it back to having the pump in the grip, because I was worried it would break. I used a BS pump.

Tip: A BS pump makes a good replacement for LBs, as it has no check valve. The LB tank (s) have a check valve built in, so a pump with a check valve isn't necessary. Good use for all those busted pumps all of us have lying around. 10 pumps with a BS pump got me 60-75ft with my LB.

It's really really solid so that shouldn't be a concern by any means.
Thanks for the infromation I think I may have a BS pump lying around.

#255409 Airtech 4000 Overhaul

Posted by white moonlight on 05 November 2009 - 06:11 PM in Modifications

Why am I not surprised.
As always awesome gun, and the spacers look sweet.
How may effective rear loading holes are there 3 or 4 I can't tell from the picture.

12 pumps isn't bad especially when the range and the fact that it's a turreted gun make up for it.

#255399 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 05 November 2009 - 04:17 PM in Modifications

Any specific reason why the pump is placed at an angle?

Know reason really it's just how it turned out.
Not much of a bother really.

#255396 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 05 November 2009 - 03:54 PM in Modifications

What you originally thought was right. A large diameter pump will allow you too reach the same amount of pressure as with a small diameter pump. However, it is more difficult to pump a larger diameter pump. If you ever pump an Airtech 3000, you will see that it is significantly harder to pump than most other air guns. If you ever use a pump that is very small in diameter, you will see that it is extremely easy to pump.

As for the mod, I always find that if you just keep the pump in the pump tube without anything holding it in, it will constantly fall out and become an annoyance.

Thats what the screw for...
I also hate it when theres nothing there, and the pump comes out.
The screw has been implemented on this and on my Mega Missile.

I'm a little disappointed. I always loved the outlandish look of the LB.
Well, it is something original. Maybe if it was a little cleaner.

I think I'll try and make it cleaner soon, but I'm fine with the way it is.

Also JATDO the T really doesn't act much like a handle unless you have huge hands.
More of a dowell storage and cleaner channel for the tubing to go through.

I'm a little confused, it looks to me like you cut off half the handle, and the T is in the space where the handle was. Unless you're a midget, I'm pretty sure your hands would be all over it.

Did you ever consider swapping in a larger pump? I use mighty putty for all my nerfing needs, but it would be way more stable if you could attach it at two points on the blaster. A longer pump could be attached at the bottom of the handle and that circle thing, plus you would need fewer pumps.

Regardless, I always like to see people doing something different, so nice work there.

Sure I get more stability and less pumps, but also get a lot lower range.
I'm already dealing with pressure issues do to the tubing extension, which I will soon fix.

If he were to switch it out for a larger pump, he be getting low ranges. Larger pump tube diameter= less pressure= low ranges, but I'm sure you already new that.

Thank you.

#255370 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 05 November 2009 - 10:48 AM in Modifications

The LB is one of my favorite blasters so just you having it makes you awesome

The fact that you found a different method to do something is a great thing so props for that too.

This nerf modding thing is all about having fun and doing what you want with your stuff so if you like it and your happy with it that is enough.

Also bonus points for using mighty putty after the death of our fallen comrade Billy Mays.

Thanks a lot, and Billy Mays will be missed...
May his products live on.

I agree with the previously stated that it looks a little unwieldy at this point. However, I see a lot of potential in this. Perhaps if more of the handle could be kept and the new pump moved upward so it's not hanging out almost in mid air, this would be a lot more usable. Obviously the general masses likes the handle pump, but hey, if you like your LB like your AT2K, then that's your business. Major props on getting the ball rolling though. It'll be interesting to see where this idea takes others.

Thank you very much.
I like the style of pumping for the 2k and I figured I could implement this into one of my personal favorite
airguns.
I hope the same thing will happen with many other guns.

To sum up: "To each their own"

good solid mod, But I think you showed a little too much CPVC

Thanks.

My one concern with this mod is wear and tear over time. The pump looks cool but after coninued stress from pumping and moving the pumping arm I can see the Mighty Putty breaking off.

That is considered and I will most likely soon add some extra reinforcement, but right now it is pretty solid.

A problem with this is you lengthened the tubing. The way the LB was designed, the check valve is at the base of the tanks, not on the pump, so by lengthening the tubing you create a pocket of air that can compress without being pushed through the valve. This is going to make it harder/impossible to achieve the same amount of pressure in the tanks. I would suggest putting another check valve right after the pump, or replacing the pump with one that has an attached check valve.

I didn't even think of that.
Thank you very much for the information, and I will do that as soon as I get the chance.

#255338 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 04 November 2009 - 09:49 PM in Modifications

This is pretty cool.

Thanks

I'm speechless, and not in a good way.

edit:

I'm gonna be straight up. You took a perfectly fine blaster, and relocated the pump very insecurely, and obscurely, making the blaster extremely likely to break and from the looks of this, extremely uncomfortable.

1. It's very secure.
2. I personally feel it is more comforatable.

If you feel the need to argue with me any more can you take it to PM's please.
If you don't like it don't do it, I liked it so I did it.

Also JATDO the T really doesn't act much like a handle unless you have huge hands.

#255333 Lb Pump Relocation

Posted by white moonlight on 04 November 2009 - 09:32 PM in Modifications

Now at the end of the handle sand down this ridge

Posted Image
To look like this.
Posted Image

Now take your ¾” CPVC T, and glue it where you shaved out.

Posted Image

Next run the extra tubing through the end of the T facing towards the front of the gun.

Cut off approximately 8” of tubing off of your 2’.

Now connect your store bought tube with your stock pump tube tubing to look like this.

Posted Image

The next step is to cut off your pump handle.
And sand it down with a belt sander.
Posted Image

Take a CPVC elbow and put a ½” piece in one end, and a 4” piece in the other.

Posted Image

Now push some shaved out 1/2” PVC, (3/4”’s) over the ½” of CPVC.

Now slide that over the pump and glue it.

Posted Image
Sorry about the bad pic...

Put the pump in and drill a small hole in the tube.
Then put a screw in and glue it there.

Posted Image

Now hot glue the pump to where you cut off the sticker.
Then internally mighty putty.

Posted Image

Cut 1 ½” of ¾” CPVC.
Stick it in the handle.

Heres your finished internals.

Posted Image

And then screw it back together and your done.

Posted Image

You now have a pump relocated LB.

You can also for personal plessure put a dowell wrapped in E-tap in the
Pump handle/handle.

Questions, Comments, Flames.

P.S. You can post now.

Hot glue
2’ of 1/8” vinyl tubing
2 1/8” barbed vinyl tubing connectors
Mighty putty
Scissors
½” CPVC 90
CPVC
Screw
Rubber Gloves

Reccomended Tools:
Bandsaw
Belt Sander
Hot glue gun
Dremel
Hot water, (sink)

Here is your stock LB.

Posted Image

Now lets take a look at the internals.

Posted Image

This is it’s tank it’s a backpressure tank, (Obviously to some)

Posted Image

The trigger mechanism.

Posted Image

The pump looks like this.

Posted Image

First will start with plugging the pump although you can't really tell from the picture...

Posted Image

Now we’ll rebarrel our gun.

Posted Image
I used about 4” of PETG, and deburred the edge because I cut it on a bandsaw.

Take out the internals.
Make 2 cuts, here
Posted Image
And here
Posted Image

Now you have to take your 2’ of Vinyl tubing
Posted Image
And 1/8” barbed connector
Posted Image

Put those together by heating up one end of the tubing and sticking it in.
I used a kitchen sink.

Then it should look like this.

Posted Image

Next cut your shell here
