#363566 Any Tactical Nerf Vest Recommendations?

Posted by father time on 20 December 2018 - 09:58 PM in General Nerf

I think he means 18 round mags. I went to a military surplus store and compared pouches to a couple of mags, I found mag pouches for AKs that hold two Nerf mags and use the slide lock mechanism that goes onto molle or a belt(not sure of name) for about $3.00 each.  That being said, there are a lot of stackable plastic mag holders available for fairly cheap. You could get a cheap  Molle plate carrier vest for about $15.00 and put the pouches on it or the plastic ones will go on Molle or a belt as well.

I can't wait till the next indoor war. It's always loads of fun. The darts(full length) are supplied just bring your blasters safety glasses and $10.00, and lets have good old fashion shoot em up...lol

I believe that a couple members of CANE would be very interested in Longshot boltsleds, perhaps multiples of them if the price was right. If you could figure out a full size dart accepting sealed Longshot breech (Angel breech that is plug and play and doesn't eat darts) I'd be all over that as well.

In place of the Tape measure part, you could use a piece of slap bracelet

What I think would be great is, a way to lock or save all the photos, like from "Write ups". The amount of stuff we have lost from Photobucket accounts being closed is terrible, or will the new direct upload eliminate that in the future?

#349024 RSCB and Koosh Darts?

Posted by father time on 10 October 2015 - 07:30 PM in Darts and Barrels

The reason that Kooshes don't work well in RSCBs, is because the tentacles fold back and cause too much drag on the dart

#348780 Need some info about these darts

Posted by father time on 17 September 2015 - 11:07 PM in Darts and Barrels

These are known as Voberry darts around here. They are indeed a hollow rubber tip and are quite similar to Elite darts.

I think they are more likely FVJs, I don;t see a hole in the side of the heads. FVJs are considerably harder than stock darts or Voberries, a lot of groups won't let you use them because of this. Here in Cincinnati, we use them quite a bit.

Posted by father time on 27 August 2015 - 10:56 PM in Nerf Wars

Wow BadWrench, coming from you that means a lot, thank you from the whole C.A.N.E. group.
As for the question of bruising, The first bruise I have had in probably a year and a half was delivered last Sunday and the was from a standard weighted slug(Just washer, backer rod and felt). We have been using the FVJs for about a year, and almost never have any problems. I wonder if what we are using isn't something slightly different from what everyone calls FVJs, regular FVJs have the shiny heads, right? The ones we are using ARE slightly harder than an Elite, but they don't have a shine to the tips.

#348199 Apocalypse 2015 - Recapping on page 5

Posted by father time on 03 August 2015 - 12:51 PM in Nerf Wars

New Jersey, where it's against the law to pump your own gas, but you have to serve your self at Burger King? Really, over $9.00 for a Whopper combo? Anyway....
OMFG!!!!!!! Langley mentioned my name "I wish I had had more time to hang out with NoM and Father Time" Total fanboy moment...lol
First time at Apoc.
Had a great time, met a lot of new people, saw a few old friends. I think I will be adding the "Freeze Tag" to the C.A.N.E. playlist. (Thanks Nom and Chicken)
I too though Langley would have been "scarier" I think was the phrase someone used.

PROS: Just getting to Nerf with so many of the people that I read about and talked to on the Haven.
Seeing old friends, meeting new ones
Finally getting my Snap and RSCB going and getting some good hits
Seeing that beautiful blaster made for Ted (?) by JLego, dude that thing is the porn star of homemade blasters.
My team pushing 5 or 6 guys into a corner in "Freeze Tag" while I was loading and then me coming in and wrecking the group to the point where the last guy just surrendered. Good thing too, I was out of AMMO

Cons: Getting to "F ing Jersey" to find that the room you had reserved was horrible and having to find another at 2AM
Paying over $34.00 plus the highest gas prices of the trip to cross PA.
Waking up and seeing Tomorrow's Darkness first thing in the morning and having to go into the bathroom after Odep had been in there.
Driving all that way to realize I was missing a crucial part for ALL of the homemades that I built for my crew, then finding a hardware store close(The house across the street had a couple guys washing a Ferrari and a Bentley in the driveway) and finding that the 90 degree elbows I bought there taper on the ends so they wouldn't stay in place. I know they say "Everything breaks at Apoc" buy I would have liked to have started as soon as I got there and had to fix later...lol
Walking onto the field in a Speed round, Langley saying go, and me realizing that .....MY BARREL FELL OFF COMING ACROSS THE FIELD, didn't get to fire a single shot before I got out.
Didn't get to meet SublimeDom in person, we could have had that Cincy/Pitt battle we talked about for so long...lol

All in all, I would definitely go again, just have a vehicle with AC and bring more money ;P

Any of you guys are more than welcome to come play in Cincinnati, C.A.N.E. will welcome you with open arms (Unless you're from Pittsburgh or Cleveland)...lol no really come join us on any given Sunday, wait is that copyrighted?

C.A.N.E. would love to invite you and your group to play, but 205 miles each way is a bit much even for me. That being said, I believe Bowling Green has a large HVZ and Nerf group. As well as a few Nerfers in the Louisville area. Not sure how many we have near the border in Tennessee, but that might be an option as well.

#345883 Nerf Ghostbusters Blasters?

Posted by father time on 29 March 2015 - 08:44 AM in General Nerf

Unfortunately, they can't do CPS systems, they lost the patent on that :/

Is it really a bad thing? I see it as an opportunity for other companies to use the CPS tech.
On a different note, am I the only one that thinks the slimerizer, looks like it's shooting big gobs of ABC (Already Been Chewed) gum or pink "Poo"?...lol

There is a video on You Tube that claims to be "The Largest" now, it's apparently from Gilley's bar in Dallas. The video is really dark, and audio sucks as well, but you can tell there were a bunch of people there. I didn't see reference to Guinness actually being there. If I heard the guy right, he claims that there are 1284 people in the room, but as you know, if Guinness doesn't have a rep there, it's not a record. Here's the video link.

#345142 Guinness World Record Attempt

Posted by father time on 21 February 2015 - 12:24 AM in Nerf Wars

Ok, I realize this event was Monnnths ago, but I was asked by an admin to do a "Recap" so here goes. The event was fun, even though we didn't really get anywhere near the record. The record is 468, we only had an "Official" count of 208. The count may have been more had they not waited till the very end to do it, by that time we had quite a few people leave already.
(Insert Rod Serling voice)
"Imagine if you will, more than 200 people running around at a war, hosted by a group that has never hosted one before". It was total chaos, I spent most of my time running around being the "Goggle Nazi", lots of people running around like "It's a little foam dart, what's it gonna do, blind me"? Well actually, yeah. "You'll shoot your eye out kid."
No one really knew who was on their team, or who to shoot at, and when you did shoot someone, they just kept on going like you never got close...lol I still had fun (Chaos is my element).
They used cardboard boxes for cover, problem was, they didn't have nearly enough. This was partially my fault since as usual I was late and I was bringing several large boxes.
They actually had "Sponsors", one of which was our own Duke Wintermaul, he had a stand selling both performance, and cosmetically modded blasters, he was also able to get some cool aerial footage from his quad copter. One of the other sponsors was a restaurant called "Tom-an-Chee" I had never had anything from there, and was like, "How you gonna have a restaurant that only sells tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches" BEST frigging grilled cheese ever!

So since it's usually done this way.
Pros:
Meeting lots of fun people
Getting to fling foam at more players than I had darts
Having a Professional D.J. from the Ohio Center For Broadcasting to make announcements
Good food
Great weather

Cons:
Too many players
Not enough cover
No organization
Not knowing who to shoot at
People not taking hits
The D.J. (Casey) sucked...lol

Here's the link to some of the pictures from the Facebook page:
My link
Perhaps Duke Wintermaul will post the video link.

Two things
One, you should get you a Jewelers/Razor saw
.http://www.super-hobby.com/products/Saw-CS-3.html
Two, if you insist on using a knife type tool, you should get a plexi-glass cutter, it works by dragging it across the seam like you did with you utility knife.

Either of these offers quicker cutting and less chance of stitches.

#342161 Guinness World Record Attempt

Posted by father time on 27 September 2014 - 10:34 AM in Nerf Wars

Cincinnati Ohio, October 25, 10am

I know this is kinda short notice, but there is an event happening in Cincinnati Ohio, the weekend before Halloween that you guys might want to be part of.
https://www.facebook...stBlasterBattle

I realize that this is a stock blaster and ammo thing, but it is for a good cause. I prefer war more along the lines of Canada and Australia but, if successful, we will end up in the Guinness Book of World records. You could tell your grand kids, I was a nerd when that meant something...lol
I am working with these folks to see if it can become an actual war or as close as we can get without giving the lawyers a stroke. Log in and check it out

#341501 Hell After Halloween II

Posted by father time on 24 August 2014 - 05:48 PM in Nerf Wars

Pittsburgh style.

Does that mean the suck at it or that they just Steel it...lol get it Steelers JK Dom
Ok, since I've gotten the Cincy/Pitt animosity out of the way, if it's held in Columbus I may be able to make it and perhaps bring a few Nerfers so the Pitt crew can see how it's done, he he he(Maybe I didn't get all the shots out earlier) So if it's Columbus It would likely be Me and Overkill plus 1 or 2 more.

P.S. As for the jibes at the Pittsburgh guys,it's all in fun the truth is, if it doesn't involve Nerf blasters or have wheels on it, I'm not really interested.

#341125 Louisvlle, KY Nerf Outing

Posted by father time on 10 August 2014 - 12:00 AM in Nerf Wars

Had a friggin blast, that long haired freak (The other one, not me) throws a great Nerf war. We played Carpe Testiculum, capture the flag, Mole, Ghost and, 3/15. Great park annnd, Archangel even drug "The Shrub" out of retirement to play.
The funniest thing actually happened after the war, turns out that OverKill has family down there. His parents were visiting said family, so we stopped by and visited also(His brother makes some mean pulled pork BBQ). Anyway we had a full car so we used the bike rack on the back to hold our Nerf bags, on top of the bags we tied a net bag full of those balls like in a ball pit. OverKills mom saw all the balls, and asked "What are all the balls for?"...lol Do you have any Idea how hard it is to explain Carpe Testiculum to a nice church going mother, without saying something that might offend her?...lol
Anyway great war, great people and, great location, looking forward to seeing FAA and The Shrub up here for Mafia's pre-wedding blast. http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=25192

#330910 The Last War of D.G.~Cincinnati war

Posted by father time on 15 June 2013 - 07:27 PM in Nerf Wars

Had a good time, even though my snap kept jamming. Was lots of fun till the natives got restless, and started trying to catch a snake, which attracted too many people and the little kids kept running across the field. We then moved to Bold Face where, we had it all to ourselves, and played for a few more hours.
Good to meet the newer (to Cincy)Nerfers, DukeWinter Maul, and his friends, as well as our new Puerto Rican Nerfer Josh. I believe Josh will be here for about a month and a half so we have to get another war together, outside UC soon. Sorry to see his motors COOK in his first war.
