#248760 Thoughts On Making A Rf20 Better?

Posted by iMod1 on 27 August 2009 - 09:50 AM in Modifications

That spring is actually the plunger for the gun. Adding a more powerful one would, perhaps, make it slower, but make it more powerful. What happens is the air filters into the plunger tube, kind of cocking the spring, and then releases the plunger tube firing the dart. If air constantly goes in, it will repeat the process. So increasing the spring power might increase dart distance, but it will slow down the firing because it takes more air pressure to cock it back. Good luck!

#245945 Good Things Happen When You Go To Church...

Posted by iMod1 on 07 August 2009 - 10:43 AM in General Nerf

Yea that does sound like a good idea, except I know some people in there that might not be into it. Also, I would do that if I had like seven stock NF's, but not with stock 2k's. I don't trust em THAT much.
-iMod

EDIT: Applefury: It's about... I'd say a good 4,000-5,000 square feet of space. That's only the basement however. We can also play upstairs, which is a lot bigger.

This "little kids" you are talking about are high school and college kids... I should have made that more clear. The church basement is pretty sick though, I'll try to send you guys some pics if I can.

#245816 Good Things Happen When You Go To Church...

Posted by iMod1 on 06 August 2009 - 03:55 PM in General Nerf

Thank for the feedback guys!

Glint: I am without a doubt NOT plugging the pump. Even though the kids at my youth group are good kids, they still don't nerf.

Galaxy/CA13: I was thinking about just modding one of the with a tank expansion for whoever is reffing the round (a persuader of sorts...) or just for me. :D I'll probably just end up CPVCing the rest just because I have so much CPVC and it's so easy.

Catmods: The only reason I don't like that idea is because I need as many guns as possible, and that would require two guns to make into one.

Alright, My youth pastor said I could mod 'em for an upcoming battle in the church basement. Any suggestions? (Besides regular CPVC barrels, pump plug, yadda yadda yadda.)

Oh, and I am planning to replace the goo gauge on two with a tank extension.

Where do you live? "BBBR's" so far have only been seen in Canada. It would be great if they started showing up in the US.

#244695 What I've Been Working On

don't embed that point on the front into any pedestrians.

I think that might have something to do with it...

Nice bike though, I was thinking about doing something similar, it's just that all of the Razor electric bikes are so small, even for modification, and if I remodeled a gas engine it would be waaay out of my budget Nice job.

#244245 Singled Rapidfire 20

Posted by iMod1 on 27 July 2009 - 09:59 PM in Modifications

I don't mean to offend you guys, but the dart shouldn't be even coming out of the barrel. I did a similar project with a magstrike, and the stock valve got me nowhere. Maybe because the RF20 fires faster there is more air release? If it really does get that great range, that's an easy mod, but I still don't like the fact that 20-30 pumps only gets you one shot.
-iMod

EDIT: Dizzy beat me to it.

#244236 Singled Rapidfire 20

Posted by iMod1 on 27 July 2009 - 09:34 PM in Modifications

I don't think it should be getting the range you say it gets. The stock valve is meant for a slow leak of air to power a continuous piston, not a rapid release of air.

#244234 Stefan Help.

Posted by iMod1 on 27 July 2009 - 09:31 PM in General Nerf

Because most FBR doesn't work for my CPVC, I just use streamline darts hotglued with BB's and cut down to size. Nice consistent, snug fit.

#236913 The Guns You Don't Use Anymore

Posted by iMod1 on 17 June 2009 - 12:08 PM in General Nerf

I'm starting a project this summer that would publish mods that are easy and simple to get people to mod their old guns. This, hopefully, would get people off their asses and nerfing this summer.

#236902 The Guns You Don't Use Anymore

Posted by iMod1 on 17 June 2009 - 11:30 AM in General Nerf

Ok everyone, before you flame my ass, let me explain. This survey is for a project this summer, so I need your full and truthful cooperation. With that said, I don't need a monolouge. Just a few answers to my question.

I need to know from you people what guns you never use. You know you have them. The ones where you pulled out the ar's, replaced the spring, closed it up and placed it where it's sitting right now. In addition, I need common guns. Just because you have a mav, an LS, and a xbow sitting on your table doesn't mean you post with just the xbow. ALL three of them. Again, please be TRUTHFUL about what you have. This survey won't work if you have 2 Doomsayers and a few SM1.5Ks lying around instead of 2 NFs and a few DTGs.
Thanks,
-iMod

EDIT: If that includes stock guns, please post them.

#235187 Performance Differences In Variants (color, Etc.) Of The Same Gun

Posted by iMod1 on 09 June 2009 - 12:40 PM in General Nerf

No one seems to have touched on the Magstrikes, so I say with 99% confidence that the new yellow magstrikes are more powerful than the old ones. In addition, new longshots (not necessarily yellow) have weaker FLAT BLACK springs. The better springs are unpainted silver/chrome whatever.

Mavs just suck altogether.

#233917 Is It A Good Idea To Microwave Nerf Guns?

#232124 Modification and Paintjob Pictures

Posted by iMod1 on 23 May 2009 - 09:32 PM in Modifications

I just recently finished an LS for a birthday. It's actually pretty nice for just using reverse stencil with painter's tape.

Posted Image

Mods Done:
AR removed
NF Spring with additional smaller spring (to keep it from rattling around inside)
Now fires taggers as well as streamlines
Replaced Barrel

If you are wondering about the spray paint, it's Krylon Ultra-Flat Camoflauge. It has the Fusion technology so I don't need glossy clear coats.

Whatcha think Brit?

As tantum stated, I prefer my stocks nice and sturdy to "tap" people with, but I like the idea. I also like the use of PVC piping as an aesthetic touch. Heck, if you painted it gold/bronze you could get away with the steampunk look.

#229605 Guide To Glues

Posted by iMod1 on 11 May 2009 - 05:39 PM in General Nerf

I would think maybe the gel version of crazy glue is a good addition. I use it to attach heavy duty stuff like LS priming handles, pumps, and securing other items. It isn't a great space filler, but it definitely has a strong bond.

#220094 Your Worst Nerf Related Injury

Posted by iMod1 on 26 March 2009 - 11:09 PM in General Nerf

Modding:

I was dremeling just this morning when I pulled the dremel out of a piece of PVC, and the dremel apparently was loose. The uber hot sharp dremel bit came up and hit me in the face, leaving a little scratch, but it hurt like hell.

Someone once glued one of those tiny metal screwdrivers to my workbench, so I was trying to pull it up. When I successfully pulled it out, a little ridge thing came off and sliced my thumb open. That also hurt for a few hours.

Nerfing:

A while back at my 15th birthday party, apparently some smart ass had the idea to use blowguns indoors (that would be me...) and someone else hit me in the eye from about five feet away, at which point I stumbled over a stool being used for cover and almost broke my knee on the tile floor. I couldn't see for about 10 mins. THAT was probably my most favorite birthday.

Just a month ago I was having a fortress round with my friends (someone with a long range gun has to defend against everyone else) so some smart ass decided to rush the guy in the fort (again, me...) and he somehow managed to hit me in the "male parts" from about 5 feet away (he shot me with my Phoenix at full power) at which point I lay on the ground for a decent amount of time.

I have been burned by hotglue too many times to remember, and I haven't really glued myself together yet. (Two of my cousins managed to super glue their foreheads together... don't ask.)

Wow man incredible job! Do you have like a pressure gauge or something to measure how long it takes to fill up the Hornet tanks? Or is it just a more time = more distance type thing? Anyways, nice job with the PJ too!

#219114 Moldable Rubber

Posted by iMod1 on 21 March 2009 - 03:27 PM in General Nerf

Hey everyone,
I was watching TV earlier this morning, and I saw this new substance called "Zubber". I immediately thought it was some sort of play-dough, but upon further inspection, it is actually a sort of epoxy putty for rubber. It comes in a package as a moldable substance, but upon hardening, it has the consistency of rubber. This has endless applications for Nerf modifications, and even homemades. Here is the site, The Amazing Zubber.

Some possible applications could include custom molded plunger heads, permanent sealant, and even rubbery grips for guns.
Discuss!!

#218594 Nerfing @ Schools

Posted by iMod1 on 18 March 2009 - 09:33 AM in Nerf Wars

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've pretty much scouted two areas, one is for sure an open campus that is really good for nerf, because when I went to church there we used to play cops and robbers and a whole bunch of stuff until the church moved. It was a blast. Anyways, I think I will definitely try to "saturate" the administration for the closed campus, because their place is even better then the previously mentioned school.
