#290461 Anyone In La?

Nevermind. It's a scam. Sorry.

#290459 Anyone In La?

Posted by Ronster on 08 December 2010 - 02:14 PM in Off Topic

I found an AWESOME deal on a Nikon D90 out of LA.
In fact... it seems almost too good to be true.
http://losangeles.cr...2101693825.html

Anyone willing to check it out for me and possibly ship it to me in Texas?
I can send you the money to pay for it.

Lemme know guys.
Thanks!

#285030 1/2" Coupling Bow Conversion

Posted by Ronster on 07 September 2010 - 05:41 PM in Homemades

If you were to take a heat gun and give the bow part of the PVC a slight bend outwards--much like a recurve bow--would that increase the chance of the PVC breaking/snapping?
If not, then that could add possibly allow you to shorten the length, but have the same (if not greater) strength...

#283589 Halo: Reach Pistol Nf

Posted by Ronster on 20 August 2010 - 10:01 AM in Homemades

If this wasn't a ton of money I'd definitely look into buying one.

I'm thinking of offering several options to accommodate. Like basic pulls (no clean-up) for like $30-40. We'll see.

Could they be made to accept a custom plunger tube/coupler setup(I.E. 1" PETG, 3/4" thinwall PVC, etc.) or would they be limited to only the stock NF internals?

As of right now, no. Not unless the new plunger tube had the exactly same O.D. as the stock plunger tube. You could always try though...!

#283567 Halo: Reach Pistol Nf

Posted by Ronster on 20 August 2010 - 12:13 AM in Homemades

This looks really cool. You said you wanted it cast in resin, will you keep it in halves or cast as a single piece? With the high attention to aesthetic, do you think you'll try to clean up or otherwise minimize the seam between the two halves?

I will have to cast it in two halves in order to keep access to the internals, so the seam line is inevitable. But I will do my best to make sure it is as unnoticeable as I can.

Back on topic, that is looking totally awesome. What is that pictured, exactly, I can't tell if it's nicely done woodwork + paint or some kind of craft foam that's been sealed over...

I believe it's textured styrene sheet, quite possibly this product

Bingo!

Been working.
Adding styrene to the outside for detailing:

Drilled the hole for the screw to attack the plunger tube to the frame:

And added the knob for the trigger to follow:

Still much more to go.

And thanks for all the compliments guys--really looking forward to finishing this project!

#282765 Halo: Reach Pistol Nf

Posted by Ronster on 10 August 2010 - 07:38 PM in Homemades

If the price was right, I'd be intirested. How would it work, just screw the NF internals into the shell, or would some serious work be required?

Hopefully there will be little work required. I'm engineering this to be as simple as possible.

Will there be templates when you're done my good sir? Oh and also are you going to use the pull back action of the nitefinder or are you going to make a slide to make it more like the pistol.

Templates? I'm sure I could release some basic templates when I'm done.
As far as the action, I'm keeping it just as the pull-back. Any kind of sliding action would definitely make it much more complicated, thus more time on my end, making it a lot more expensive for you guys.
Not that I didn't consider it though!

Holy shit, it's Ronster!

Nice looking project you have going there...looking forward to seeing how it progresses. It's definitely a new approach to shells and homemades/modifications.

I'm definitely excited to be back! It's been a while, huh...? Haha.
Glad to see some people still remember me...

I'm not a pro at wood, so what kind of wood is that and what do you cut with?

It's MDF and I cut it mostly with a bandsaw. I use a dremel and sandpaper for most of the sanding.
Pretty basic stuff, not too complicated.

Only got to work on it a little today--only about 30 minutes--but still worked on it nonetheless.
Worked on sanding down the edges of the grip.

Wow, never thought I'd see a homemade with an all wooden shell. Props.

I'm hoping to mold the shell and cast it in resin.
And possibly selling some casts in a small run or two.
Would anyone be interested?

I guess both.

Not really.

But I noticed the custom guns he's got look like parts of Nerf guns cleverly put together to create a sweet sci-fi blaster.
But what guns?
You tell me!

#138322 I'm Really Proud To Say "yeah, I Made That"

Posted by Ronster on 03 February 2008 - 01:18 AM in Off Topic

The white balance could be easily fixed during shooting.
Just hold up something white (like a piece of paper or jug of milk) and, if your camera has an auto white balance, let it set to your white object. Or if you're lucky (or rich) and you have a white balance adjust button on your camera, adjust it to the white object.

As for the reflection on the fishing line, just a little rotoscoping in After Effects can easily fix that.

Do you think it could be possible that you could suppily a kit?
I ahve all the tools and what not to actually make it, it's just getting all the parts that's hard for me.
I'll do all the printing and cutting and assembling...
Just like, the raw, un-cut materials?

#128171 Arr!

Posted by Ronster on 31 October 2007 - 09:50 PM in Homemades

This looks really promising and, if it works, it's probably be the first functional bullpup nerf rifle.

Although I would really opt of some kind of forgrip or a place to rest your non-shooting hand so you can avoid problems as to where to put your other hand (firefly).

So does the bolt actually work?
Is this the first bolt (outside of Boltsniper) to actually chamber and eject brass shells?
If so...AWESOME work dude!
I'd love to see simple video of you gun just cycling shells!

#118592 P90 Helix Ramp Mag

Posted by Ronster on 06 August 2007 - 11:45 PM in Homemades

This topic is very interesting!

I've always wondered about how the P90's mag system worked...

Remember my homemade SMG? Well, I had some really cool ideas for it and one fo them involved a magazine on the side of the gun like the game...but I could never really figure out how exactly the P90's magazine worked... Hell, I even looked up the Heckler and Koch G11, which uses a rotating bolt(but that proved to be too complex for my design).

This is where I ask:

Where did you do your research? How did you find out how the clip works? What the hell do you mean by "Helix"?
I'd just like to know about this very interesting clip design. ;)

#112941 Nerf Grenade Idea

Posted by Ronster on 25 June 2007 - 12:26 AM in General Nerf

If you can get this to work, I'm sure you'll be the envy of the forums (at least for a little while...).
It's a neat idea...but it would be hard to fabricate and to get to work well enough for a practical use.

Just keep at it and, maybe, you'll come up with a way to make his work.

#112728 Any One Good With Photoshop?

Posted by Ronster on 23 June 2007 - 05:29 PM in Off Topic

I know this is really off-topic, but I'm thinking Ronster is the go-too guy for this. I'm seeing some bits and pieces of the Spartans from the Halo Wars trailer. What generation of Spartans are they?

They are actually supposed to be Spartan II's in Mk. IV armor.
Which really bothers me 'cause it looks like a combo between Mk. V and VI, not a predecessor.

Sweet, another nerfer who frequents mjolnirarmor.com.

Back on topic, are you going to add color to it or leave it black/white?

I want to leave it black an white to keep a darker mood.

Any ideas for the text?
It's gotta say "Halo" on the bottom somewheres...

#111799 Any One Good With Photoshop?

Also, why isn't the chestplate/shoulder-strap a silhouette? Where is the light source illluminating it?

I wanted to do kinda like the first picture of the topic where some of the backlight would spill over onto the shoulder/arm piece.

What's this poster for?

One.

Two.

I think you're trying to do a "light-bloom" effect. Gabe, from Penny-Arcade, the webcomic, has a little video tutorial on his blog.

That's almost exactly what I need!

This combined with Carbon and Gengar's advice brought me to this:

:)

Anything else I should add to make this beauty perfect?
Maybe a bit of what I did to the arm to the helmet?

#111664 Any One Good With Photoshop?

Sounds good.

But, keep in mind that I only have version 5.5...

It's not new, but it's gotten the job done for me so far.

For the new light rays, should I do like I did for the helmet and vector in part of the armor?
Would that look sharper?

#111652 Any One Good With Photoshop?

Posted by Ronster on 16 June 2007 - 08:07 PM in Off Topic

See the way the Spartan in the foreground breaks up the light in the background?
Posted Image

I really like that effect and I really want to use it on the poster design, but I'm not reall that good with PS.

This is what I've got so far...
Posted Image

I like the way the helmet lights look and the illumination on the helmet itself...but the light in the background just looks kinda...dead. I want more interaction between the Spartan and the back light. Like he's really standing there in front of a light and you can see the light being broken up by his silhouette.

Any advice or tutorials you guys might have found that could help?
