#362885 OG Alpha Trooper CS-18 Spring Replacement

Posted by dvdmelancon25 on 09 April 2018 - 11:20 PM in Modifications

So a powerstock would have a smaller diameter spring that goes past the stock attachment point and into the stock itself and ultimately push the plunger. I like the sound of that!

Not sure if the Omw kit would work, since the AT has a different catch plate. How much tho?

#362872 OG Alpha Trooper CS-18 Spring Replacement

Going way back with this one, looking for something a little more challenging (I know the performance is lower than the elite successor, this is more a just because). What kind of springs can fit over the reverse plunger? I have not received the blaster yet, doing my research now so I can do everything when it comes in.

I feel like an upgraded Longshot spring, 7 or 8 kg, would fit. Any thoughts? Thanks

I would, but I'm saving up fro Endwar. You think there's any chance we could set up something around that weekend? Like Saturday evening or something, idk what the schedule looks like.

I also have a chrono and a seriously modded blaster using a singled berserker tank and can confirm if you're using the right darts for your barrel you're probably hitting around 250. I was able to tune mine down to 180-200.

I am comfortable playing higher fps caps but a hard cap of 200 lets people compete more casually and draws bigger crowds, as mentioned. If it's just you and your friend, go nuts (but I recommend full face masks because split lips suck). You might also want cups.

How were you able to dial it down? Just fewer pumps or what?

No one here is going to judge you unless you start using shotgun primer to fire nerf darts.

Don't worry; air, spring and flywheel are more than good enough for me

I successfully completed a Longstrike with a BuzzBee Berserker air tank (credit to Nerfomania) and PVC breech that breaks at the barrel attachment point. Me and a friend of mine have been doing 1v1s with this and my Caliburn and right now I'm working on a Longshot with a titan tank and PVC breech to make the reload time and velocity a little more even.

Now I am aware that these blasters can be dangerous and should never be used without eye protection. If I had to guess my Longstrike shoots upwards of 250 fps (I don't have a chrony). He and I have a lot of fun with these "high-powered" blasters because the engagement distances can be much further than with other modded blasters.

How does the community feel about this kind of thing on a larger scale? Are there wars set up specifically for this kind of high powered stuff?

#362785 Hyperfire electrical wiring failure! Need help

Posted by dvdmelancon25 on 24 March 2018 - 03:21 PM in Modifications

Is that the stock conveyor motor? If that's the case then it may be the amperage limiter is shutting off the flywheels, so there aren't enough amps to power the conveyor belt and the flywheels.

#362472 Accufake darts

Posted by dvdmelancon25 on 05 February 2018 - 02:12 AM in Darts and Barrels

Im trying to find a nice cheap supply of darts and I find these accufake darts on Lightake, you can get 1000 for under $25. But how do these darts actually do? I notice that Drac is using a bunch. Are they picky about what kind of blasters they work well with (spring v. flywheel)?
Just want to see what yall think, thanks!

#362285 Different modified blaster firing sounds

Posted by dvdmelancon25 on 19 January 2018 - 02:35 PM in Modifications

There shouldn't be too make variance in the sound, as long as the firing is consistent you should be fine. If you do take it apart make sure the plunger screw is nice and tight

#362284 Full Auto Rayven Build Guide

Posted by dvdmelancon25 on 19 January 2018 - 02:26 PM in Modifications

IMG-0165.JPG

Just finished putting this one together. I was tooling around for something interesting to do and decided to hype up a Rayven with a a new paint job, high-torque motors, and full-auto kit. The most challenging build about this work was the pusher. The original spring rod in a stock Rayven does not attach to the 3-D printed piece so I stripped a Spectre of its slide return tension spring and that seems to be doing the trick.

Materials:

1X Nerf Rayven or Rayvenfire

2 X MTB Neo-Rhino 3s motors

1 X Nerf Rayven Full Auto Conversion Kit (see link below)

1 X set of flywheels (I chose Blasterparts, but any aftermarket set should work)

1 X tension spring

1 X 3s lipo pack (Turnigy nano-tech 1000 mah 25-50c)

1 X male XT-60 connector

2 X 15A Microswitch

16 or 18 AWG silicone wire

Solder

Tools:

Soldering iron

3rd hand

Hot glue gun

Dremel with grinding and cutting bits

Philips screwdriver

Needle-nose pliers

The assembly is relatively straight forward. I highly recommend removing the plastic post just below the handle. This little post makes it very difficult to butterfly the blaster and does not really serve any purpose. I did not have to do very much dremeling to get the microswitchs into place and they are held on with hot glue. I tried a new mounting technique where I put a band of hot glue over the top of the switch and connected it top and bottom to really hold it in place.

I dremeled little holes in the flywheel cage to mount the motors with screws. This step is not required but it does help minimize vibration. The new Neo-Rhino motors work phenomenally and combined with the Blasterparts flywheels provide a really fast spin-up time.

The full auto kit was not too difficult to mount. I highly suggest cutting off the second motor rod that sticks out the back; it does not fit well inside the frame.

The second most difficult part about this build was getting the lipo to fit. I used a nano-tech 3s 1000mah, you can use anything up to that size, I can't imagine anything larger would fit without a larger battery door. As you can see in the picture, the pack is very snugly placed inside the original battery tray. I dremeled out the two sides from the bottom of the tray all the way to the edge where the door comes down. For the door all I had to do was grind down the excess plastic to make it a flat surface and now it fits over the pack with very little discernible bend from the outside.

Because the new pusher for the kit is a little bit bigger, I had to trim some of the shell. This does not kill the aesthetics as it is all covered when the jam door is closed. Also, make sure to pick the right axis with the gear box. If the pinion spins the wrong way, flip the gear box and move the pinion.

Thank you everybody for reading. This is my first forum post and I appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Nerf on and God Bless!

David
