#329901 Alternative Pumpsnap 3.0 Disc Method

Posted by iModify on 16 May 2013 - 08:11 PM in Homemades

These are from my 'HomeWrecker' and 'Multiple Orgasm' write ups. You can also use 1/2" PEX and drywall anchors. The anchors bite into the PEX extremely well. The result is a very cheap, extremely light and incredibly strong plunger rod.

This set up has never failed me. Even with a 28kg (~62lbs.) spring load.

I was linked to your guide before I made this. Thanks.

#329751 Alternative Pumpsnap 3.0 Disc Method

Posted by iModify on 13 May 2013 - 12:33 AM in Homemades

Something else that you could do, it put a screw through the nylon spacer, going the opposite way, so that it cannot come out, and then put a nut on the other side to hold the washer on, I've had screws slip out even with the hole tapped to the right size, and this is a good fix for that.

Good idea. Thanks

#329730 Alternative Pumpsnap 3.0 Disc Method

Posted by iModify on 12 May 2013 - 06:19 PM in Homemades

You didn't mention what the point of doing all this is. You still have to put a coupler on the end of your pump and a bolt on each side of it.

As BBV said it's just an alternative method. Instead of buying the (nylon?) rod you get from McMaster, you can get the spacer for a dollar AND you get it locally!

And I don't think anyone needs a guide for putting bolts into a coupler.....

#329723 Alternative Pumpsnap 3.0 Disc Method

Posted by iModify on 12 May 2013 - 05:19 PM in Homemades

I would tap the inside of the nylon spacer and use set screws instead of the nail, but otherwise, Nice job.

Once I had the bolt it, It already made its own threads. And I used a nail gun so if anything breaks, it should be the metal washer or the spacer :P

#329721 Alternative Pumpsnap 3.0 Disc Method

Posted by iModify on 12 May 2013 - 05:09 PM in Homemades

I'm using some ideas i've seen from other Pumpsnap videos, just throwing that out there before we start!

Materials:

1/2" CPVC

1 1/4" OD, 1/4" ID metal fender washer

1" long, 1/2" OD, .194 ID (get a bigger ID if you can find one) nylon spacer

And some random bolt that fits your washer.
Posted Image

Start off by hammering the spacer into the CPVC:
Posted Image

Now drill out the inside of the spacer so it's possibly to start threads for the bolt. I didn't feel that it was necessary to use a tap, so I started assembling it:
Posted Image

I used nails to hold the spacer in, then used my bench grinder to smooth it all down:

Pretty simple, don't you think?

I will edit this post if anything breaks. ;)

#322649 Nerf Big Bad Bow Modification, Plunger Head Improvement!

Posted by iModify on 15 October 2012 - 11:58 PM in Modifications

You should flip the skirt outwards, then cut notches along the ribs you cut off completely, so that way the ridge holds your o-ring in.

I've tried something similar to this and also used hot glue to secure it, and what happens is that in a war the hot glue will slip off along with the oring through the magic of plunger tube shenanigans and then you have tons of debris in there wreaking havoc.

Alright, i'll try that next time! Thanks.

#322645 Nerf Big Bad Bow Modification, Plunger Head Improvement!

Posted by iModify on 15 October 2012 - 09:06 PM in Modifications

Hey guys. So most Big Bad Bows have a pretty nice seal stock. But we can do better :D

I haven't seen this modification before, so if you've seen this. Please let me know!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start by getting your plunger head:

Cut these off:

Place a NF O-ring in here:

You should have a nice cup like this:

Now hot glue over the O-ring like this:

And your done! You should have 99% seal or better!

#322433 Buzz Bee/Air Zone Panther Help

Posted by iModify on 10 October 2012 - 11:53 PM in General Nerf

I think you simply have a dud. It happens.

Air is suppose to leak out there when you press it. That's the blast button. It's how back pressure tanks work.

Alright, thanks MIG

#322427 Buzz Bee/Air Zone Panther Help

Posted by iModify on 10 October 2012 - 10:11 PM in General Nerf

This isn't the cause to your problem, but anlarging that hole will increase your range, most likely by a significant amount, as doing so in AT3K's does. I dud it to my panther by holding it upside down and slowly circling it with my utility knife to slowly anlarge it without getting pieces of debris in the air chamber. If you cannot solve your problem, just unplug your pump as 4-6 pumps is the usual amount that the air tank holds.

Ok, if I drill the hole out it wont hold air. Right?

*EDIT* After playing around with the internals I found out a bunch of air was escaping here:

Anyone know what is happening?

#322418 Buzz Bee/Air Zone Panther Help

Posted by iModify on 10 October 2012 - 07:53 PM in General Nerf

Are your darts tight in your barrel? If so I would recommend goop and/ or epoxy to connect the coupler, so it can build pressure in the barrel.

My darts have a twist fit in my barrel.

#322415 Buzz Bee/Air Zone Panther Help

Posted by iModify on 10 October 2012 - 07:36 PM in General Nerf

I just got Panther from Toys R Us and modded it. When I shot the Panther it wasn't amazing like everyone says it is, when I pump it 4-6 times it gets better ranges then 10-15 pumps :/ The modifications i've done to it.. rebarreled with a CPVC coupler, plugged pump.

Here's some pictures:

Also, should I drill this out?^

Video:

I know that's a really short barrel, but if I put in a longer barrel the dart goes about 10ft.

Thanks!

#321663 How do you silence a Nerf blaster?

Posted by iModify on 15 September 2012 - 02:18 PM in Modifications

There is a few things you can do to your blaster to help "silence" it, but it's pretty hard to completely silence it.

1. Add craft foam to the plunger tube.

2. Add FBR (Foam backer rod) to the dead space/gaps in the blaster.

3. I've never tried this but, try getting some spray insulation foam and spray that in the dead space.

Hope this helps!
