#59441 Making A Mold To Replace A Small Part.....

Posted by xedice on 16 July 2005 - 01:08 AM in Modifications

ah i see.

just google mold making or something
http://www.smooth-on...tomakemolds.htm

i also found a page where they make lego parts using a rubber mold and ABS plastic as the filler. I used to play with legos when i was younger, found it pretty interesting..

#59418 Making A Mold To Replace A Small Part.....

Posted by xedice on 15 July 2005 - 07:23 PM in Modifications

Aw comon, don't discourage this kid's creativity. Since when is it fun to just buy a part when you can make it yourself? :P

Making a mold and filling the mold is just to clone a part you already have. Unless the 'small orange dealie' you have is exactly the same as the one you are missing, making a mold isn't the best option.

You could always travel to homedepot / lowes and browse their aisles looking for some parts that you could improvise with or just get some ideas. Some common materials that are easy to work with for nerf guns are wood, pvc, and thin sheet metal, which are all cheap and sold at most hardware stores.

Hot glue is very strong as a single part when it dries, but it is very hard to release it from the mold you use, because it is a glue... it's supposed to stick to things it touches. I've filled a section of PVC with hotglue in hopes of making a solid hotglue cylinder, but after it dried i couldn't get the hotglue cylinder out of the pvc, it was stuck. So it probably won't work for making a part.

#59274 Mazda Rx-7 1987-90

Posted by xedice on 14 July 2005 - 12:43 AM in Off Topic

I heard these were high maintenance cars. My friend who owns a Rx7 says that the 3 tips of the rotor or whatever its called, the main part of a rotary engine, well anyway, the tips of that wear out quick. He is always fixing his car and I think rotary engines are just too much trouble for a first time driver.

But if you do get a sports car, opt for a manual (cheaper too). I learned on an auto, and now that I know how to drive a manual, I really wish my parents put me on a manual first. Also, having an auto sports car is just so boring. I have an auto 'stang and it is very boring to drive and shifts at the worst times (for economy).

They came out with this new tranny, called a tip tonic or some stupid name like that, but the idea is cool. Its a manual when you want it to be, and an automatic when you want it to be. My buddy recently bought a Nissan 350Z, and the tiptonic was actually the cheapest transmission, even though he gets the best of both worlds.

Oh yea, have fun with your insurance haha.

#57036 All Purpose Movie Topic

Posted by xedice on 09 June 2005 - 10:23 AM in Off Topic

1.) Scarface
2.) A Clockwork Orange
3.) Pulp Fiction
4.) No Mans Land
5.) Office Space

Most of Quentin Tarantino films are great, cool guy. No Mans Land is a foriegn movie, but the story is ironic (and entertaining)

Starwars episode 3 rocked, but not on my all time fav. list. It was awesome to see how Anakin transformed into Vader.

#53748 Modifying My Nite Finder

Posted by xedice on 28 April 2005 - 06:54 PM in Modifications

reccomendation on more mods? A question is... will a brass barrel, longer too, help distance and accuracy?

Just a brass barrel? Probably won't help you much. But a nested brass barrel could improve your ranges a bit. I am sure you could gain a few feet replacing the barrel with a nested brass one.

#53687 Your Ride?

Dark Shrimp, you are one lucky kid. I mean, I would kill for a 68 mustang. God, i bet you could hear the rumble of that thing a mile away.

You gonna drag race it or is it gonna be your daily driver?

#53444 Your Ride?

Posted by xedice on 25 April 2005 - 01:39 PM in Off Topic

And the guys who pimp out Hondas. Don't even get me started. Maddox put it best. If you're going to buy a shitty car, and put alot of money into it, why didn't you just buy a better car?

I see enough cars and "project" cars everyday to know that there is only so much you can do to a car to make it better.  If you go out and buy a honda civic and drop $50k into it, it is still a honda at the end of the day.

You buy a crappy old sports car for $3000 and $17000 in power adders, its gonna be faster than any $20000 car out there. Period.
You guys try to dis putting money into low performance cars to make them better. How bout I dis all of you for spending money making nerf guns better?
"Haha, you guys spend money trying to make shitty nerf guns better, why don't you just go buy an airsoft or paintball gun?"
I find it ironic.

And to answer your question, Mer ~ because of the fact you pretty much post here sporadically and a very large majority of the posts are in Off-Topic in a Nerf Forum (and several posts just spur arguments in several cases) doesn't necessarily make your points less valid to the readers, I think it's safe to assume that most of us probably just don't give a shit.

What we don't give a shit about is junk like this and talio's in this kind of thread. So what if merlinski posts more in off-topic, his posts in this thread were interesting to read for me personally, and could be for others as well. So no, it's not safe to assume sir.

I still won't say what kind of car I drive, because it doesn't matter.

Why are you even posting in this thread then. I think I remember the topic being "Your Ride?", but I am not sure. Maybe someone could back me up there.

Ahh, a chance to wave my dick around for the day!
Fortunately, I just washed it not too long ago.

its a 1995 Mustang convertible. Slow as hell but very fun to drive, pulls donuts super easy thanks to shitty tires and rear wheel drive. No power adders so far.

Sounds like merlinski knows his stuff. Personally I have saved enough money up to buy a Nissan 300ZX, still looking for a good engine swap for it. Its gonna be my project car this summer. I was thinking of an RX7 or Fiero as well, but we'll see what i can get my hands on this summer.

Oh btw: merlinski what kind of infinity audio equipment do you have? I have their tweeters, 6x9s, 5x8s, and a 8"sub, all infinity. They make some quality stuff, im pretty impressed with them.

#52566 Shoring Up Aging Micro-darts

Posted by xedice on 15 April 2005 - 11:44 AM in Modifications

There was a dart I think called the yoink dart where you left a straw in. This was for stefans, I've tried it with micros once, but the extra weight in the back of the dart made it fishtail. The way I found to solve this was to glue a BB in the straw and insert that in so the tip of the micro had more weight to it. The dart didn't fishtail anymore, but the extra weight made the dart get really crappy ranges. Hope you have better luck.

#50570 Max Shot Troubles

Posted by xedice on 25 March 2005 - 11:41 PM in Modifications

4. Avoid making idiotic blanket statements about the applicability of well-tested methods.

I have a maxshot with the EXACT same problem as grinch has and I used epoxy the first time. It broke because the connection was brittle. Epoxy alone will not hold to the stress of firing. Don't give me shit about making idiotic statements of well tested methods, I already tested the method.

My mistake was, i didn't think about using epoxy with a brace at the time. I fixed my problem with a metal brace and screws, and it is still functional to this day, thats why I suggested it to you grinch.

I'm going to try to use plastic cement to "weld" the breaks together. Then, I'm going to use K&S sheet aluminum to brace them with epoxy. Sound good?

Sounds fine but make sure the sheet aluminum is thick enough so your max shot won't need another fixing in the future. I used sheet metal just thick enough so it didn't bend like paper when I held it at one end.

#50484 Max Shot Troubles

Posted by xedice on 25 March 2005 - 03:27 AM in Modifications

Pineapple im not going to try to argue againts your epoxy's strength, you will mosdef win. What I am saying is there is no way in hell epoxy could save grinch's gun. It is just not possible. There is a spring that is constantly forcing his gun in two parts at every fire, epoxy is not made to hold up to that abuse.

I have used epoxy many times, for nerf and non nerf applications. Fixing a knob is fine, there isn't that much stress. Fixing a nerf gun's case with epoxy is fine, as long as the case is not being forced apart at each shot.

Plumbers goop would hold better in this situation because it is more elastic and can absorb the shock of the fire better. Brittle is relative, and in this situation, yes, epoxy is brittle.

What he needs is a mechanical connection.

#50473 Max Shot Troubles

Posted by xedice on 24 March 2005 - 11:25 PM in Modifications

I say, when a gun breaks, repair it with something stronger than what it was origionally made of. (steel)

Cool, nerf guns are made of steel now! Awesome. Thats so fascinating!

Why are you fools suggesting epoxy. Have you ever used epoxy? heres a hint, its brittle dumbasses.

#50410 Max Shot Troubles

Posted by xedice on 23 March 2005 - 10:15 PM in Modifications

any kind of glue to hold a stress point is the shittiest thing you could do.
Thats next to taping it with electrical tape.
If you absolutely are determined to glue a stress point, use plumbers goop. Why? Because plumbers goop is flexible and will not crack like epoxy/elmers/plastic cement/ect. No garuantee how long that will hold, maybe a few shots.

If you want a permanent fix, go to homedepot/lowes/ace whatever, and buy strips of metal. Flat rectangular pieces or anything of the like. Using screws attach the two plastic casings together. This way, the max shot can still be opened like normally unlike a glue connection.

#47924 Vinyl VS. Compact Disc

Posted by xedice on 24 February 2005 - 11:19 AM in Off Topic

VINYL!!!!

Where would all my local bboy and dance clubs without VINYL??? You can't dance to a cd, thats just gay, all the tracks gonna be shitty quality and you can't blend or scratch (not fingernail scratch) them.

Vinyl is the future.. and the past. CDs just suck ass in my opinion. Except for mp3 cds which are good for playing in the car, but thats about it.

I'm pretty much even between mp3s and vinyl, vinyl is good for big groups of people, mp3s are good for personal use. My final answer is vinyl.

to loosely quote kitty from that 70's show, "why don't they just stick record players in cars?"

Contol Panel(Classic View)>Speech>Text To Speech(It's a Tab)

If you want a quick laugh, go to window's text to speech like was said (win2k works too), turn the speed down to 1/4, and type this:

Ooh Jesus Christ. I'm so high. High is good.

HAHAHA
Yes, she certainly sounds like one high old lady. hahahahhahah. Especially when she says: "I'm so high".

Microsoft Mary r0x0rzz me hardcore.

Oh yeah, the more you slow it down, the more stoned she is.

Who cares if either one has better graphics? I just care about the game that they make.

Yep, Nintendo has better quality games on their systems, period.

I like quality better than graphics. I still play some of the old marios and megamans on my emulators because their gameplay rocks my ass. Playstations games = vomit.

I always though thats what everybody did when they refered to 'shotgun'.

#45433 Maverick Internals

Posted by xedice on 03 January 2005 - 11:36 PM in Modifications

I take my 'so lame' statement back. The reverse plunger method isn't lame, its the size of the tube they used that is lame.

I guess we could just find stronger springs for modding, but I really would like it if they used a bigger plunger tube and more restriction in the recent pistols.

I guess we can't have everything huh.

#45343 Maverick Internals

Posted by xedice on 02 January 2005 - 12:18 PM in Modifications

Why did they ever even consider this 'reverse plunger' method... so lame.
The gun is nice though.

#44150 Sliding Tubing

Posted by xedice on 16 December 2004 - 10:37 AM in Homemades

I am just looking for a cheapo alternative to using brass so much in each and every gun I make, well excluding the barrel.

Thanks for the info peeps, I think I will try my luck again at my conduit section of lowes/home depot for 16 and 20 mm. If not I guess I will take the sanding approach.. which sounds painstakingly rediculous already!

#44103 Nirvana

Posted by xedice on 15 December 2004 - 06:18 PM in Off Topic

Nirvana shone in the lyrics and riffs department, not chord varieties. Their songs don't all sound the same either, unless you listened to the same song twice.

and Mr. CheeseNerfer, Nirvana wasn't just a seattle thing, it left a big mark in rock/alternative. Although now when I turn on the radio I want to beat the shit outta this new wave of whiney alternative bands singing about their girl problems.

#44066 Sliding Tubing

Posted by xedice on 15 December 2004 - 12:03 AM in Homemades

Since I'm tired of using and buying brass for just its sliding capabilities, has anyone found a combination of pvc/electric conduit that slides well with one another? You know how 17/32 and 9/16 brass slides well with each other and creates a good seal, no gaps, but not too tight? Well I need some PVC to do that. I know bolt master zero got a working combo, but I don't remember what he used. I have a home depot and a lowes nearby so I don't want to order from any online PVC specialty stores.

thanks for any help (*ahem bolt master zero* ^_^)

I heart nirvana.

think il take out the goo but i dont think tha ill drink it, and arent the air restrictors INSIDE the barrels so i already did tha and i forget to plug up the pressure release valve so thanks anyway even though i think tha calling me green boy and telling me to fire them up the ears were insults....and if they were.....excellent insults biatch

You're profile has a picture of a green mega man. Hes a boy, and hes green. Greenboy. Judging by the way you typed, you seem stupid enough to drink the goo. Firing them in your ears is just a method of determining if a mod made the gun better. The longer you are deaf, the better the mod is. I do it all the time and it works, trust me on this greenboy.

#42664 At2k

Posted by xedice on 27 November 2004 - 03:15 PM in Modifications

Fire them into your ears green boy.

You said you rigged barrels on them.
Plug the hole in the pump.
Take air restrictors out.
Take out the goo bottle and drink that.

Now fire them into your ears green boy, it will be even more fun.
