I'm not sure if this is just mine or if this has been discussed before (I searched I did), but
Have any of you noticed that the breech doesn't quite meet the barrel on the Raider?
I'm sorry I'm too busy to take some pics, but in this picture from the overhaul thread, if you look at where the breech and barrel meet, there is a small space. Don't tell me this wouldn't hurt the ranges a bit....
(ps, sorry. I think its the breech but i'm not positive)

Someone fast track this member asap.
This thing fires 3" steel bolts? Is there anyway to make it fire stefans? Maybe with a steel ball bearing instead of a lead fishing weight?
I third that.
I fourth it, fifth it and sixth it. But seven times is too many for me.
So building this with my nerd friends in engineering next semester. *evil snickers* =P

I can't possibly be the only one repetitively chanting "WRITE-UP! WRITE-UP!" can I? I love the idea of scenario nerf, even though a lot of people here don't usually appear to. I was going to make something like this for physics class and we were going to have fights trying to hit the other teams target, but this, this is SO much better.

Yeah, im a boyscout, but my friends and I really don't try for the advancements. we kinda just gave up, even though we are REALLY active. (T93 represent). And yeah I'm surprised there are so many scouts in nerf too.

Definitely doing something like this to Longshot #4. #3 is already deemed to be AT2Ked and sidearm integrated, and shotgunned. but really, someone beat me to the OH HOT DAM. If you want to design your own homemade, i recommend building something similar to a SNAP. As you might be able to already see, there are alot of SNAP variants out there already, so coming up with something new may be either very easy for you, or incredibly hard.
Once you get your fill of SNAP's and various variants, I recommend the FAR or SCAR-N, just because of how fun they are. I am building a homemade that is build from alot of the same ideas and parts as a FAR, but with enough minor modifications to have it been considered its own gun.

Oh hot dam. I am getting myself one of these for Christmas. Please finish! The whole SNAP/Crossbow thing was getting old and this this is in a totally different direction. I want one of these more than (insert sexual comment here {I'm leaving it up to your imagination})

I built something like this a while ago in the attempt to make a different FAR (note: Effeminate phail)...
anyhow, it seems like the community is coming up with a lot more similar ideas these days, as we come ever closer to the holy grail of nerfing.....
whoa ADD there. my bad. but seriously, finish up the cosmetics and this thing will be badass. I'm off to finish the zwatgun before someone steals that from me...

Yeah, I built one about a year ago. Trust me, it will be easier to take apart a titan, screw by screw, rip the air tank out, and put it into a recon, so that it still fires darts, than build an efficient Nerf gun around a zero tank. No offense zero, just my own personal experience.

Ok, so at my school, we have this pretty huge field house, like a gymnasium, and the other day, i was thinking it would be perfect for a CTF war. the only problem is, i only have like 4 friends who enjoy nerfing, and none of them like i do. So i ask the NIC: how do i get my friends into nerfing? they are into airsoft and paint balling, but that would never work in the field house. The field house could support a war up to 20 people teams, but we would need like 10 minimum on a team to keep it slightly interesting. Also, we would need almost 20 people to get the school to even THINK about it. However, if i could get some sort of Nerfing club set up, the school would be much more likely to go with it. our school is fine with a club as long as i can get a supervisor (usually a teacher/TAC teacher [TAC's are homerooms at my school]) and some student interest. Luckily, my friends who do nerf go to my school.
We do, however have a young republicans club and a young democrats club. I was thinking maybe we could get this into a "who is really better" competition, but the dems would never go with it.
BTW: PM me if you think you go/went to the same school as i do. if you did, you will know so

Seeing how this has become a huge "show off you SNAPBow thread, i decided to post this.
A while back i asked if a SNAPbow could launch a Ping Pong ball. In short: the answer was yes. In long: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT REALLLLLLLLY!!! Turns out Ping-Pong balls are THE WORST PROJECTILE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!!!

I didn't want to call it a SNAP, because it is so fundamentally different. for instance, the plundger sticks a good 3 inches out of the barrel when not loaded. also, seeing how the projectile was a ping-pong, no seal could be made with the inside of ANY barrel, and not a lot of pressure dislodges a ping pong ball. so only the force of the plunger hitting the ping pong ball will propel it. and by god, the SNAPBow was perfect. We hit 17' on our third try (which is a 95%).

PS One of my group members wants to have the Hammertime P-2 (dont ask) Live up to its name and have us smash it up with a sledgehamer. If there is any feedback on the nerfing community to try and stop its demise, i will save it from the fires of the great bonfire.

Well, the SNAPBallista is not as cool as i thought it would be. Ping pong balls aren't airtight with PVC so i have to use the impact alone to propel the ping pong ball.
Due to the fact that i really don't have time/means (parents don't like internet buying) to buy the god spring the range is really bad. REaLLY bad. only about 10'. so i am gonna need more springs.

Yeah, i just bought most of the materials, looks like fun seeing how I'll have all of the machining equipment to work with. however, the entire assembly has to fit on a 11 3/4" square board and we have to get the ball in a similar square 17' away, I'm just using a slightly smaller spring. Pics should be up in a weeks or so.
then of course comes the 3d modeling and such, so I will certainly have my hands full.

you know, i was planning on doing something a bit like this a WHILE back. My idea was do make a modded gun that was essentially a brute spiker from halo, but after i saw the rough dimensions of this, i am discouraged to use the NF now. the trigger design is brilliant though.

The top of the pump could be mounted to the side of the hip and is able to be rotatable, while the heel of the foot is where the bottom of the pump would be mounted. Tubing could then be fed up the body to another tank, where more tubing could lead to a valve which would allow airflow to be monitored.

Notthedinkus I personally think this is a great idea (if it works). If you can get a minigun to work, you would be the first one here (as far as i know) to make such. My first concept homemade was a minigun.
As for the WWI issue, the invention of the "first" machine gun revolutionized warfare for all time. This gun might just be that WWI machine gun.
If you are looking for gears, i found a bunch of K'nex gears in my basement yesterday. They are plastic but they might work.

Alright, about a month ago (three weeks before thanksgiving), I had the urge to build a my own homemade. It's not yet done, and has gone through 3 major design changes. I'll post more information as soon as I make more progress.
Its purpose: be an effective long range rifle
I didn't know how a plunger worked (or what a plunger was) at the time (i was a complete noob), so i decided to go with a bike pump for the air pressure. I also used Zero's breech and basic valve. I think its ok for my first homemade.
