#199136 My School Has A Nerf Team

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 27 December 2008 - 02:41 AM in General Nerf

That's pretty cool that you guys can do that.

Just don't let Nerf get in the way of your education, it's the most important part of your life! That's my only advice. :)

#197410 Which Sports Do You Play?

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 20 December 2008 - 04:04 AM in Off Topic

I play Lacrosse.
I've Played State level a few times. Bigger deal over here since we have significantly fewer states, but then again we have significantly less players too lol.

I play Midfield and Attack, but it's not uncommon to see me put out a competent performance in Defence.

#195544 Greatest Game That You Have Ever Played In Your Life

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 11 December 2008 - 08:43 PM in Off Topic

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
and
Metal Gear Solid series.
The storyline...it...I'm still picking up pieces of brain. But MGS3 is my all time favourite game.

#195420 Getting Flamed For One Mistake

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 11 December 2008 - 01:13 AM in Off Topic

Actually I agree with hedgehog, this site is way to hard on people who dont understand the strict mentallity here.

I agree too.

The way it is lately, a new guy asks a question, then first reply is "OMG GTFO N00b! UZE THE SEARCH FUNCTION" or "YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG YOU IDIOT lol MODZ GONNA BAN YOU," and so on. The first two replies to this topic are perfect examples.

Most people don't realise that people who have joined a NERF forum have probably never used any other internet forum before. Everything's new to them. Cut them some slack, post a helpful reply or don't say anything at all. Swearing and flaming on the interweb makes your e-wang smaller. Think about that, kiddies. You really want a tiny e-wang? What will that first girl say "lol look at your tiny e-wang"? Yeah, it's a daunting possibility.

If you happen to be new, and you happen to know how to use a forum, or you know quite a bit about Nerf, good on you, use that knowledge to contribute, not flame and get post counts. If someone asks a question with an obvious answer, kindly direct them and help them, don't be so uptight.

That's pretty much all I have to say.
Think about it.

#194906 Recon Troubleshoot

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 09 December 2008 - 12:32 AM in Modifications

You went wrong by stretching the spring.
This is especially bad in Recons. When you stretch the spring you change the diameter of the spring, so now it doesn't sit nicely in the case.
The best way to fix this is to swap the spring back to stock, or external spring.

#193385 Big Snap Bow Made Into Nerf Shotgun

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 01 December 2008 - 09:50 PM in Homemades

Parts can't be THAT hard to come by.
Just go to Bunnings or Mitre 10, as for springs, try National Parts fasteners division or any other industry supplier who specialises in fasteners etc. I have not personally bought springs from them yet, but I am very sure they stock all types of springs.

#192944 Riot At Chinese Nerf Factory

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 30 November 2008 - 04:59 AM in General Nerf

I believe he meant rebel as the verb.
He would rebel while weilding the vulcan.

Pokechan, that really was a waste of a post. He didn't say anything too bad. I'm just getting tired of people backseat moderating, it's all I see on NH now! :(

But wow, this is an interesting story! I don't think there's need to worry about a "Nerf Drought" *rolls eyes at the mention of drought* since this was a random occurance, but it certainly makes you think "what if?"
Oh well, you guys would just get a taste of what Australia had for 5 years B)

Posted this before, but...

Range before this incredible modification was about 40 feet. I just didn't like it. And it was black; black paint on a gun gets you shot round these parts.

#190697 Pictures Side By Side

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 19 November 2008 - 06:26 AM in General Nerf

My PC clips are already removable, just wanted to know if I could use them in a magstrike if I got one.
I've got about 5 PC clips already, so I won't have much of a problem.
Thanks for your help!

#190438 Pictures Side By Side

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 18 November 2008 - 02:30 AM in General Nerf

I couldn't find this in a search, I know it's been answered before though...

Are the PC and MS clips interchangeable? Could I use PowerClip clips in a Magstrike?

Thanks.

#189244 Stefan Weights

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 12 November 2008 - 06:32 AM in General Nerf

EDIT: Just realised you've already tried using them in an AT3k.
I'd use them more myself but I can't find a steady/affordable supplier in Adelaide.

Also, I've handled 1000's of splitshot weights for my stefans, with bare fingers. I've only had 5 incidents of lead related cancer so far. It's not that bad.

Not really. The lead's fine. just wash your hands, or if you're that cautious just wear latex gloves.

#188590 What Inspired You To Nerf...

#187393 Crazy Prices You Bought Your Guns

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 04 November 2008 - 12:36 AM in General Nerf

I think the best bargain I got when importing was a BBB for US$20, shipped to Aus. That was gold.
Also, finding Nite Finders IN STORES for $8.50. That's a massive plus for me.

#187177 You Might Be An Aussie Nerfer If...

Well, the point of forcing them to drink it is because it tastes like shit :P
Coopers ftw. :D

And yes I am legal to drink lol.

Some good times were had, memories revisited while writing this. Any other Aussies feel free to add.
Or if there are any foreigners with stereotypes to add, feel free lol.

#187173 You Might Be An Aussie Nerfer If...

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 03 November 2008 - 03:17 AM in General Nerf

So a fellow Nerfer and I compiled this list today.
It really only applies to Aussie Nerfers, but it's fairly entertaining. Enjoy.
Oh yeah, and actually most of this has happened with us. Haha
-Tidge.

You might be an Aussie Nerfer if…

- You’ve ever killed a spider that’s bigger than the gun you killed it with
- You killed that spider with a Titan
- The spider fought back with an NF.
- Your local Kmart thinks you’re a really crap fisherman
- When you talk to American Nerfers, you tell them you have a trained Kangaroo that collects ammo for you in the heat of battle
- You got a headshot at over 60m
- Because of the deficiency of Nerf blasters in stores, you pretended to be a Magstrike
- The best modification for a RFR involves a hammer
- You wonder why the FBR you left in the sun to straighten is trying to bite you
- You’re immune to snake bites from retrieving darts lost in bushes
- You clean your cuts and scrapes with Beer. Water is a precious thing.
- You drank said beer after.
- You fired a Stefan through a beehive.
- The scars are still there.
- You can no longer use Hot Glue to hold anything together. It will melt.
- More than one gun has melted during prime Nerf season.
- You make random people Nerf with you.
- You know who made a Stefan by looking at it.
- Your excuse for buying Nerf guns from America is “So I can fend off the Drop-bears”
- A Dingo took your Crossbow…
- You use the cracks in the dry ground as cover.
- After extensive use of the RF20, you must cool it down with water. Or beer, if you’re not a millionaire.
- You Nerf while wearing thongs. The kind that is not underwear.
- You wear a Stefan Hat as opposed to a Cork Hat.
- Your stubby holder is made out of FBR.
- You did a drive-by from a XB Falcon. Aka Mad Max’s Interceptor. Aka Road Warrior.
- You did a drive-by from a Commodore.
- You use Vegemite as war paint.
- You have a tattoo of a Kangaroo with a Crossbow in its pouch. This is called the Southern Cross.
- It’s a FUIC Or it’s nothing.
- You know what I just said. And live by that philosophy.
- When a member of the opposing team is “built like a brick shit-house” that just means they’re a bigger target to hit.
- People are surprised when they are hit in the face with a titan rocket moments after commenting on you having an English accent.
- Or asking if you were related to a convict.
- Or a New Zealander
- Or if you have indoor plumbing
- Or if you have a pet kangaroo
- Or say they’re from “Radelaide”
- Then ask where you got that Titan
- You get excited when you think you see a SuperMAXX at a garage sale but were disappointed when you found out it’s a super soaker.
- “SuperMAXX” was in your MS Word dictionary already.
- The local Lyre Birds sound like PowerClips
- When you find darts the day after a war, they’re full of ants.
- You re-use the darts anyway, what’s a little extra pain?
- When someone gets shot and complains that it hurts, you reply by saying “Take two shots of concrete mate”.
- You then force them to skull a full can of VB
- You mistook a white foam Stefan for a witchetty grub during an endurance war.
- Going for a war "down the street" means you may actually be a few suburbs away
- You love caining noobs with your fully sick foam boomerang
- The local park rangers think that stefans are the droppings of some unknown introduced species.
- You showed up to a war in full camouflage fatigues
- You use plumbing materials to make a homemade rather than for something illegal, like watering the garden.
- The local fuzz are still having fun with your home-made
- You were willingly shot it the genitals with a titan, you think you should quit drinking…so much.
- You fired fire-cracker stefans out of a cross bow.
- you considered making a movie of Ned Kelly’s life but with nerf instead.
- You’ve spent AU$400 or more on importing nerf guns.
- You made a nerf grenade out of a cooper’s bottle
- You see parties as opportunities to mass produce it.
- Hot glue is liquefied before the gun is even plugged in
- You wrapped a PowerClip, splitfire, SuperMAXX 750 and more in camo duct tape.
- You lost those guns the next day.
- You have fired many things that the gun wasn’t supposed to including, snails, cockroaches crickets, grasshoppers, gum nuts, batteries of varying sizes, tennis balls, cricket balls, small lizards and the neighbour’s son.
- You made a loudener for the scout
- You were a member of the AusNerf forum
- You use your High School teacher’s photos as avatars
- You use a Foam Cricket bat as a Melee weapon in wars

#186630 The Official Nerf Haven Aussie Nerf Thread

Our government's not THAT bad lol. We have had cop trouble while Nerfing before, but that was at night.

But my point was more like "This is Nerf not MilSim", the dude who painted it was a fair dick with the gun.

But to each his own...

Yeah most BuzzBee stuff is junk, but there is some okay stuff out there, IMO.

If someone gives you a BuzzBee gun, or any gun that is painted ALL BLACK like so...

This is usually the best modification for it.

In my opinion. lol
Yeah and I still have the clip for it too, but it's going to a friend.

#186431 Scar-l From Crysis = Spartan Ncs-12

That, what AJ just said, and the fact it reminds me of the FN F2000, not bullpup though.
Otherwise, you could say it looks like any other Assault Rifle...

#186188 [aus] Nerf War; Adelaide

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 29 October 2008 - 02:07 AM in Nerf Wars

Yeah I know where most of us are. I know there are a FEW Adelaide nerfers on here....but who are they?
Together with taita_cakes, I ran the AusNerf forums, but that got hacked and the domain expired... ugh.

I get my foam from Bianco Building Supplies. The size varies from roll-to-roll like any other foam, but recently they've had white foam. It's pretty cool. It fits my aluminium barrels well.
I just had a look at your videos... Ah the Victorian accent is so weird lol but you could say the same to me haha.

Thanks mate.

#186180 [aus] Nerf War; Adelaide

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 29 October 2008 - 01:17 AM in Nerf Wars

Hey guys,
The season is upon us for a Nerf meet!

We've got a small skirmish planned for this weekend November 1st. Meeting at 11am, having lunch, starting war between like 12 and 1. Or just turn up in time for the war. It's not going to be anything fancy, just a meet.
The war will be situated East of Adelaide, near Magil/Tranmere.
If you're interested in more details, PM me I'll let you know!

Also, since this is the time of year where students are doing their Year 12 Exams, we're planning another bigger, more organised war for after exams have officially finished. (Could someone let me know when that actually is? lol  ) It just makes it easier on everyone.

I'd like to get some interest in this post-exam SAUNA war (simply means South Australian Underground Nerf Association) to see exactly how well I can plan it, there's a possibility of a BBQ lunch or tea, maybe even carry on into the night if we can find somewhere with lights, we'll see.

So yeah, post here, PM me or whatever, I just need interest. I'm coordinating this alongside AJ.

#185051 C.q.b.

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 23 October 2008 - 06:31 AM in General Nerf

While I may be wrong, I do believe you are refering to CQB, Close Quarters Battle, which is close proximity gun-fighting.
CQC is generally used when soldiers are interracting in hand-to-hand combat, as seen in the Metal Gear Solid series of games. :)

When we have close range battles, I usually use a mildly modified Hornet (no A/M barrels) as my primary, and Nite Finder as my secondary.
However, with my close friends, we allow CQC rules, so if we know what we're doing we can perform safe take-downs. These wars are usually in the dark or whatever so we can sneak up.
But in this instance, I use my custom "Special Ops" modified Nite Finder, Foam knife and a DTG strapped across my back. Or a Titan, silenced and used for long-range, but my NF holds it's own.

#185043 No...really...this Is A Nerf Grenade

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 23 October 2008 - 01:41 AM in General Nerf

The whole 1-outlet-to-three-barrels concept prevents the shotgun darts from working effectively. Unless you block the valve in the pump and over pressurise it, you won't get all the darts out of the barrels.

As for rebarreling. Brass is too haevy for this application, I would recommend the use of PETG however.

#183424 No...really...this Is A Nerf Grenade

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 13 October 2008 - 04:52 AM in General Nerf

Quick question: how big is the air bladder?
Would it be possible to put a better air bladder
thus improving the range?
maseman__46

Are you serious mate? I just posted pics of the device.

The two outlet ports. You can see the "walls" between them taht I cut through.

As you can see, there is no air bladder, but the valve design is a self-contained pressure tank.

#183422 Singled Rapid Fire 20?

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 13 October 2008 - 02:55 AM in Modifications

Hmm I have experimented with this concept. I didn't use the RF20 shell, just the mechanism while I was trying to prototype a loading system.
I made a ghetto magazine, with fabicated PVC shells, and managed to get the reciprocating RF20 mechanism to load and fire a dart from each shell with good success rate. I only made about 6 shells for the testing, but it worked okay. Needless to say, the design needed refining to maximise efficiency of seals and stuff. The range I got from a 4" barrel were about 15', and this was a very rough assembly.

So yes, you could do it, but as has been said, very impractical.

The only air restrictors in the barrel are these thick crosses that the pegs are connected to.

Just Some Bob - those prongs you're talking about are not the only form of AR. The pegs are ARs, the crosses are ARs too.

Even after plugging the pump and machining out the barrels nice and smooth (not replacing them), there wasn't much of an increase in performance. I think this is because of the fact three barrels share one outlet. Sharing just doesn't work.

Sorry the pics are so late lol.

#182139 The Official Nerf Haven Aussie Nerf Thread

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 07 October 2008 - 03:07 AM in General Nerf

20mm Wall Electrical Conduit (Greyish u-PVC) - Fits some 15mm FBR, also fits stock megas quite well.

20mm Underground Electrical Conduit (Orange u-PVC) - Tighter than Wall Conduit, Fits most 15mm FBR, stock Megas a bit tighter. Fits the white 15mm FBR found at Bunnings.

16mm Wall Electrical Conduit (Greish u-PVC) - Tightly fits stock Micros, fits thin batches of 13mm or thick 10mm. Fits inside 20mm WEC.

16mm Aluminium Round Tube, as found in most Bunnings stores - The Al tube I use for my modifications, featured in my Longshot write-up, fits most 13mm FBR, loosely seats stock Micros. Good for airguns. It's probably about 1/64" larger than K&S 9/16" brass.
Available in 1m and 3m lengths, between $4.5 and $5.5. Fits inside 20mm WEC and 16mm WEC's respective couplers.

9/16" K&S, 17/32", well you know how it goes.

Most WECs will fit inside the next size up. This is useful for creating breaches, but annoying when you're trying to attach it to the plumbing PVC.

#182132 What Is A Silencer? And A Breach Idea.

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 07 October 2008 - 12:37 AM in Modifications

For what it's worth, I almost completely suppressed my MGS-inspired 1st Gen Nite Finder.
Internal silencing leaves for a soft, sharp clack, barrel suppressor reduces muzzle noise significantly.
Some may remember I posted this a far while ago...?

Well, just to say it can be done, it's done very well.

#182131 Favorite Primary / Main?

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 07 October 2008 - 12:33 AM in Modifications

Wow that is beautifully well done, great job sputnik!

I don't have pics right now, but my Primary is usually my LS.
Either Crossbow, Longshot, DTG or AT3k. All are getting a service at the moment though, it hasn't been Nerf season in a while.
I either like to go as Long-range as possible without using the S word, or CQB style.

#181415 No...really...this Is A Nerf Grenade

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 04 October 2008 - 03:07 AM in General Nerf

Pump plug and barrel replacement are pretty much the extent of modification potential for this.
There are 2 piston-valve outlets. The six barrels are basically divided into two sections, so three barrels share an outlet between them. Not very efficient, but as long as you haven't got the darts in there too tight, they'll all come out; whereas if they are in too tight, only a few will come out and all the air escaping through those empty barrels.

This will be easy to understand when I cbf posting the pictures and writeup. I screwed up my mod though, (check-valve damage) so it doesn't work anymore. You'll seee.

#181364 No...really...this Is A Nerf Grenade

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 03 October 2008 - 10:08 PM in General Nerf

Ah, thought it uses the piston valve setup. It sounds like a hornet when it fires. By the way, sorry I ruined your surprise.

Haha it was inevitable :)

In Texas? YES! How big is it? Think it would fit in an m16 mag pouch?

I would assume the M16 mag poucehs are the same as the F55 Austeyer pouches (3 magazines of 30rd 5.56x45mm)
and in that assumption, I would say no. You could probably really squeeze it in there, but otherwise, I really don't think it would fit.

Edit2: You could easily covert it to an airsoft grenade/mine if you wanted to.

Oh yeah really easily, just wait to see the pics I've got :D

#181326 Dart Tag Nightfinder's?

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 03 October 2008 - 08:37 PM in General Nerf

The Dart Tag Firestrikes are the only Nite Finder re-release that are exactly the same internally as the 1st Gen Nite Finder, which means it's got a solid spring, well lubed plunger and a great seal.

1st Gen Nite Finder is the best one released.

#181323 No...really...this Is A Nerf Grenade

Posted by The Inventor Guy on 03 October 2008 - 08:29 PM in General Nerf

AH! No!
Noone was supposed to see it yet, I've literally got one of these disassembled on my bench as I type. I'm in the middle of modifying it lol.
I was going to post it tonight after I've finished the mod.

Basically it's a Piston Valve system much like the Splitfire, Hornet, Blastfire, Lightning Blitz etc.
It's okayyyy, but it's still a Nerf type Grenade, so it's crap. The concept is sound though.

They weigh about 7 1/2 oz or 200grams (I weighed it just now while it's in pieces, this is without the foam wing pieces, restrictors or ammo)
Measuring with a plastic stationery ruler, the main body is rouglhy 8cm diamteter and 17.5 cm long and the total length is roughly 26cm, including the pump tail.

-Tidge.

#181319 What Are These?

Haha that's pretty cool that they're releasing them in multiple packs like that though! Wish they'd sell that here, no matter how crap they are lol

#180746 Longshot Bolt

...Are you serious?
That's what it took?
Someone on the internet to tell you to try both sides? Why didn't you just try this in the first place?

When you took the Longshot out of the box, and put the bolt in, didn't you see yourself putting it in?

Wow.

I lol'd.

Use your brains people, try something yourself before rushing onto the forums. </general rant>
