#46538 How Co2 Regulaters Work

Posted by rawray7 on 25 January 2005 - 10:09 PM in Homemades

Ok it sounds like I already have what I need, thanks cxwq. I would also like to know the cheapest place online to buy a psi measuring type thing I could attach to pvc just like a tire valve?

hardware store. i don't know where you live, but i've found psi guages in osh, home depot, and ACE.

#46266 Nested/breech Barrels

Posted by rawray7 on 18 January 2005 - 06:16 PM in Modifications

What I'd use is 11" of 19/32" in SCH 80 1/2" pvc, (you might need to use a rat tail file to get it  in there) then put 7" of 9/16" in the 19/32", after that put 2" 17/32 in the 9/16. Stick a pvc coupler on the front of the plunger tube/gun and you're done!

unless you've got fatass micros - why are you bothering with 19/32" brass? the fact that your darts fit snugly in 17/32" makes me guess that you're just wasting money with 19/32". i can't think of any advantage of having so wide of a barrel on the end of your gun. the only two guns i could imagine using 19/32" brass on would be a maxshot or a eab - and with those i would start with 9/16", and forget the 17/32". three brass segments seems like overkill. also, 19/32" isn't likely to fit well into sch. 80, so why not just use sch. 40 instead of using a file if you insist on using 19/32"? timberwolf, i would stick with a combination of 17/32->9/16->sch. 80 unless you are using really fucking fat micros, megas, or stock darts.

#45719 Nerf World Order

Posted by rawray7 on 08 January 2005 - 06:59 PM in News

I think the karma system is good, but

The NH border should be a solid, steel door, not one with a doggy flap.

Thats wrong. If you close the doors then it discourages new people to come into nerf. I'm sure we all want nerf to grow into an olympic sport (atleast me ^_^ ). Correct me if im wrong Cxwq but I thought NH was a place where people get help on modding, ask questions, share ideas, sell guns, and meet other people that share a common hobby. Going out and searching for good people isn't a good idea. What about the people that aren't elite just want to join this community(like me) New people is what keeps nerf alive. Cxwq I think that you should have something to tell the people that want to sign up during this time to wait, explaining them the karma system being introduced.

God you suck. i'm going to say this so vacc and cxwq don't have to say it a fifth time.

This website does not care about introducing new people to the sport of nerf. You are correct, new people is what keeps nerf alive, and those new people will simply go to the other forums for now.

It was members of this forums, not the administrators, who mentioned anything about scouting. The administration of these forums do not promote scouting, so stop arguing for or against it. Your last post is a moot point, because any fucking retard can read the very first thing on the main page, which for you and i at this moment, happens to be the first post of this thread.

to everyone else: stop posting in this thread, read every fucking comment and every fucking response before you prove that you're retarded by posting. nothing you say will change cxwq or vacc's mind.

#45685 This Is How You Suck

Posted by rawray7 on 08 January 2005 - 03:05 AM in Off Topic

they listen to what corporate America wants them to. What you hear on the radio a billion times a day is whatever was paid for to be played on the radio a billion times a day. Guess what? Those local radio stations you like are all owned by one of two major communication companies. [SNIP]

Ash, you rock.

I hate to bring politics here, but when Bush was elected office he did his ceo buddy at Clearchannel the favor of raising the maximum number of radio stations a single corporate entity could control. Clearchannel owned 30+ stations before Bush and now it owns 3000+ stations nationwide.

Another restriction our president helped get rid of was the restriction on advertisements. Songs are now allowed to be an advertisement, and not all play-counters have the technology to discern a station playlist song, from a paid advertisement. Aside from the general corporate scandals behind what goes on the station's playlist, now companies fill advertising space with a song - thus creating a "hit" simply by paying for the ad time, and you'll never know the difference, because the station doesn't tell you you're listening to an advertisement.

I'm very tired and futiged right now, so the qaulity of this post will most likely be low...

This is a perfect example of why we need to tighten up our border patrol. Who starts a post like that?

only a dirty immigrant.

Halfling~
Get your half-nerf ass out of our country you dirty crossbreed. solicit your services over on the newb side of the border...and stop trying to steal our jobs.

In full support of the admins via Langley's statement, border patrol is necessary. I'm throwing on a cowboy hat and heading down t' san diego to cetch me some n00bs. C'mon y'all.

#45526 This Is How You Suck

Posted by rawray7 on 05 January 2005 - 11:34 PM in Off Topic

I have to admit, I am a Nickleback fan. I think it's funny that they match up, but I think it's cool how they fit together like that too. And if you listen to most rock/punk rock type stuff, it's all mostly the same anyways. That's how it is with most any type of music.

EDIT: Why do ya'll not like them so much?

I have to admit, you are teh suck.

edit: Because they are teh suck.

#45525 Xbow Help

Posted by rawray7 on 05 January 2005 - 11:29 PM in Modifications

All a crayola barrels is is just a brass replacement

I hope you are being funny. Yes, it is a replacement - a very poor one. Kind of like replacing the gas tank on your car with a milk jug.

You didn't find a crayola mod because no one is stupid enough to use one on a Crossbow.

NinjZ wins.

#45231 Xbow Spring

Posted by rawray7 on 31 December 2004 - 03:39 PM in Modifications

Im going to go all out on my xbow mod by following RawRay's mod here, then customizing it on my own but have hit some snags. I was wondering what sort of replacement spring to use (material, length, gauge, etc). Im sorry if this has been clarified before but I searched on NH and the rest of the internet and found nothing except a defender T3 spring, which I dont have.

Oh Im also having a rough time fitting the support bolts behind the spring compression wall. Should I secure the bolts in place with nuts? I tried but couldn't fit them in. Also, I don't understand the fourth piece of steel plating that he used on the wall, the triangular one. Can someone please give me some help?othing except a defender T3 spring, which I dont have.

very good questions, both that were only answered by my experience after i wrote that mod.

1:don't replace the spring. no one has ever found a decent replacement for it.

2: the triangular metal piece on the trigger is overkill, don't do that either. what you should do if your having trouble with the trigger being weak (which is why i added that triangle piece), take a spring from any airtech or supermaxx trigger and use that and the regular trigger spring. (the airtech springs fit inside the xbow trigger spring, and make the gun easier to fire).

3: i dont really know how to answer your bolt question. if your bolt isnt' secure because you can't fit a nut, try a smaller bolt. one thing that neonerfer did to solve this problem was to use longer bolts, and run them the whole way through the case (both sides) and put the nut on the outside of the case.

edit:
sorry, i thought you meant the triangle piece on the trigger, and i answered that in nuber 2. for the triangular piece behind the compression wall, i think you can get away without it given that you have bolts in place. if you don't have bolts, i'd go for the triangle behind the compression wall.

edit2: when i say don't replace the spring, i mean don't replace the spring. in fact, don't bother stretching the spring either - unless your adding less than a half inch to the length. DO use bands or bungees. i use 3 strings of 5 rubber bands tied together, but neonerfer found this really neat green elastic band at home depot that i can't find the name of right now. if you can find that, its way better than rubber bands.

#44600 December Yano Recap

Posted by rawray7 on 23 December 2004 - 01:57 AM in Nerf Wars

Eulogy Award: Spoon - for the loss of his beloved SplitFire sidearm which fell from his holster during a daring CTF grab and is now leaking. Honorable mention to Toj for his horrific, but probably repairable BBB injury.

i would like to honorably mention toj's 750, which attempted to help get kevin's gun out of the tree, and will probably never work again because of it.

great war guys, thanks everyone who came.

um, some little baby trees here and there. nothing to get your camo panties in a knot over though. check it out for yourself: 1 2 3 4 awesome

Sonic Youth started grunge. Nirvana listened to and tried to emulate Sonic Youth. While i won't say i completely dig everything SY did in the early nineties, I will say that they have evolved into a great band.

even though cxwq said he'd edit a mapquest to show where the star should be, i'll give you the basic layout.

from the 5:
exit culver south
pass walnut
left on deerfield
around a little bend
turn right into the first parking lot
we're by the lunch tables

from the 405:
exit culver north
pass irvine center dr.
right on deerfield
around a little bend
turn right into the first parking lot
we're by the lunch tables

i drew a picture and everything, but i'm too lazy to figure out why its not showing up on the site i put it on. figure it out.

#43542 December Yano

I can't find if this year's winter solstice is Dec 21 or 22. If it's the 22nd then she won't be there.

so she's some sort of snow-sorceress? i can just imagine her in a horse-drawn carriage out in the middle of Narnia, luring kids to their doom with Turkish delight.

#43420 December Yano

22nd is far inferior to the 26th but i'll be there.

#43342 December Yano

Posted by rawray7 on 05 December 2004 - 01:13 AM in Nerf Wars

i'd rather do it the 26th than the 24th, but i think i could work either one in - i might have to leave a little early if we do it the 24th.

#43250 December Yano

What if you guys planned the next YANO for Venado over winter break? That creepy teacher can't possibly hang around his classroom all the time.

thank you julie. okay, winter break it is. i think we should just hid venado, i've had little luck (and frankly done very little) with the caltech possibility. lets try it on a weekday maybe, so we are in fewer people's way. show me your schedules dammit - let get this thing to happen. i'd be most up for something a few days after christmas.

#42156 Urgent X-bow Help

Posted by rawray7 on 21 November 2004 - 03:29 PM in Modifications

2 1/2" PVC couplers
12" of 17/32" k+s brass
12" of 9/16" k+s brass
a foot or so of 1/2" pvc (just buy more, you'll need it later and its cheap)

the rest cxwq explained already.

#42084 Modifications For Some Nerf Guns

Posted by rawray7 on 19 November 2004 - 11:57 PM in Modifications

I apologize, I was really mad that day (when I made the other posts). I guess I should have looked at the name of the picture, but I really don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. But umm, now I'm confused. I opened up my NiteFinder, and there's the orange restrictor and the peg and stuff. But there's 5 pieces and a spring. I can put it back together, but I don't know what to do to increase range. I know you're supposed to take out the peg, but what else?

and this is why i think having your child skip grades is stupid. they simply never learn how to use the search function. in fact, right now i'd post a direct link to ragornock's nitefinder mod, but i'm going to be a pain in the ass. try going to modifications, and then to nitefinder. after that search the forum your in: theres hundreds of old and new topics about the nitefinder, and while your at it stop being a little bitch.

#41183 World Of Warcraft

Posted by rawray7 on 08 November 2004 - 10:17 PM in Off Topic

i played WoW on my friend's account for a few days, and i really liked it. he was part of this big week long beta stress test, and so i got to do a lot of cool shit while playing - like being part of a single battle consisting of about 200 people, all in an attempt to crash the server. its got a really fun beginning to it, so i'd give it a try if your into those games. i'll agree with ash on the fact that the game looks extremely cartoony, and i'm sorry to say that the screenshots don't lie, it actually is really cartoony.

there are a number of southern california nerfers out there. our most common war location used to be Irvine California. now we're sort of stuck without a set location. once we find one (i'm still working on Caltech), we will probably start bimonthly wars up again like the good old days.

#40055 My First Homemade

Posted by rawray7 on 27 October 2004 - 08:27 PM in Homemades

Thanks for the information. Im working on a design that delivers slightly more psi. I hoping for around 70 because i will be using an electric pump probably, unless i find a good hand pump to use, but i doubt a hand pump could deliver that psi.

i wouldn't try to go any higher than 30-40 PSI with a hand pump. first off, it tends to become very hard to pump, and also your goal of 70 psi would break the check valve on most hand pumps. instead of going to an electric pump to get 70 psi, why not just increase your tank volume and make sure you have a nice long barrel on the gun? besides, 70 psi is a waste of effort if you are using a hose sprayer as a valve...too much of the pressure will disperse to make going that high worth while. now, if you've got a solenoid valve, then 70+ is understandable because the valve is open for such a short amount of time, you aren't leaking a whole lot. regardless of whether you use a solenoid or a hose handle, i'd stay away from an electric pump. the homemade i created using one was too much of a hassle. i mean, i could shoot a double weighted dart over two or three houses with it, but it had the tendency to break things (i'm sure people would be included), and took too long to re-pressurizie. Given that you want to shoot people with this gun - i'd highly recommend sticking with human-generated pressure (ie, bike pump).

#40051 Help Me Mod Me X Bow

I don't know, I've heard from VACC that he tended to get better range with the stock barrel, and he extended it with something.

i'm pretty sure that if VACC was getting those results, it would be with megas.

#39407 Foam & Metal Reinforcement

Posted by rawray7 on 20 October 2004 - 08:31 PM in Modifications

Put in foam until it's slightly harder to screw together. You want it a little compressed and pressing against as many plastic surfaces as possible.

agreed. i put foam in my xbow partially to silence it and lessen some of the vibrations after the shot. it helps with keeping the gun from shaking (that spring is huge), not a whole lot with "silencing". the big reason there's foam in my mod is to keep my barrel snug and center, and to deaden impact on the epoxy connection from the PVC coupler to the tube, in case i dropped it or hit it against something.

#39403 "homeland Security" Nerf, And The Law

Posted by rawray7 on 20 October 2004 - 08:20 PM in Off Topic

along the lines of that mailbox story...

so, my neighbors used to always get their trashcans knocked over by these kids who would drive right into them. anyway, after like 3 months of picking up the mess from this, they decided to fill their "Garden Waste" trashcan up with a little more dirt than usual, mind you there were still leaves and garden stuff in there, just a good amount of dirt. anyway, the kid fucked his car up from the impact of the garbage can, and then hitting their curb, and then spinning a little. anyway, to make a long story short, they had to pay for the repairs on that kids car.

i'd suggest that if you are going to shoot them, and you're dead set on shooting them - you let them throw a few things first, then yell, then shoot. if you really want to be bold, make your yell sound like a little girl, so hopefully you'll get a few more shots off, while still being able to truthfully claim to the police that you warned them. or you could just hide in your front yard and slit their throats ninja-style. your choice.
