#229249 Another Claymore Writeup

Posted by ggk on 09 May 2009 - 07:36 PM in Homemades

Requirements:
1 6" to 8" piece of 1/2" pvc
1 1/2" pvc
1 strong spring 4" to 5" long that fits in the 1/2" pvc
1 washer that is not smaller than the spring and not bigger than the id of the pvc(for me it was a #8 washer)
1 3" to 4" of coat hanger

Step 1
Drill a hole about 1/4" higher than the length of your spring completely compressed up the tube.
Posted Image

Step 2
Hot glue the washer onto one end of the spring.
Posted Image

Step 3
Hot glue the end of the spring that DOES NOT have the washer hot glued on it to the 1/2" pvc end cap.
See Picture from Step 2

Step 4
Bend one end of the coat hanger into a loop for the string/fishing line to attach to.
Posted Image

Step 5
Assemble.
When I assemble it I put the bent coat hanger through the pvc and push the end cap with the spring attached onto the pvc. Then I load the darts.

The darts are six 3/4" stefans.

I made this guide because the one posted previously was not very clear and I thought everyone should make some of these. These can be made bigger to make more room for darts as long as you can find a spring proportional to the length/diameter of the tube.

Sorry about the quality of the pics/video the vid was made my messed up digital camera and i had to use my phone to take the still pics because my camera could not take a clean picture.

ps if you want to make them able to stick in the ground, before you glue the spring in the end cap drill 1 to 2 holes to stick nails through the cap and then glue the spring in. also if you have trouble pulling the pin with a tug, before you set the line pull the pin about half way out.

Have FUN!

Yeah like I said my camera is really acting up. Here is the best case scenario pic i could take.(I know it is not a pic of the claymore)

the scatter is about 6-8 feet and it prob shoots them 20-30 feet.

#229307 Another Claymore Writeup

Posted by ggk on 10 May 2009 - 03:43 AM in Homemades

Yeah I know they are more like trip mines that claymores, but since others were calling them claymores so I also called them claymores.
I am thinking about trying to make one more like a snap bow trigger sorta design, but i need some supplies.(Dang hardware store not open at 4:30 in the morning)

Capten Karat I agree with you whole heartedly. Especially with #1 and 2. That is why I told them to drill the hole 1/4" higher up the tube than the spring completely compressed.

for your situation Capten I would suggest that you cut a piece of metal about 1/4" wide and a little longer than the width of your spring and put a bolt and nut through it placed in the spring right under the closed end of the spring and the plunger head.

Also i have been wanting to make a larger scale version and see how it works. So my question to you is how does it?

find a dual action mini bike pump. You can get them from walmart, but if you have a bike store around you they probably have a better selection.

#230289 Quick Question About Maverick Penny Mod

TantumBull I think he means the actual orange plastic air restrictors.

My next step is to make the release like the trigger on a snap. Once I get that working I am going to try and make a diverter in order to actually have a circular spread. Then if i get that going making them grenades would be easy.

#231873 Petg Question

Posted by ggk on 22 May 2009 - 02:54 PM in General Nerf

Bob those push pull guns are too big to fit in a nitefinder. They are like 1 1/8" wide, but they make really good shotguns with an rscb clip with 1" stefans it shoots at least 2 at a time and at about 60'. on the rare occasion it will shoot a full sized one close to 100'.

also when at the dollar store pick up some 15" glitter batons and the center piece of petg is like the perfect material for making rscb clips.

#232978 Dtb Modification

Posted by ggk on 27 May 2009 - 10:51 PM in Modifications

i dont think the extension mod will work mainly because the length of the compressed spring will be too great.

#233158 Magstirke Paintjob Gone Wrong

The problem is it is pink and white. Think it is sick I want to try that and see what happened.

#234182 Vos Pistol

Posted by ggk on 03 June 2009 - 07:20 PM in Homemades

Very nice job. I am currently designing something similar, but I am getting hung up on the catch design. Could you take some more pics of the catch setup and explain it a little better? also when you build a smaller magazine could you possibly do a write up?

#234211 Vos Pistol

Posted by ggk on 03 June 2009 - 11:07 PM in Homemades

By catch I mean how the plunger gets stuck then released by the trigger.

#234398 Vos Pistol

Posted by ggk on 04 June 2009 - 11:58 PM in Homemades

thank you. That really helped me understand. I saw the pic on the first page but did not see where the string went. What materials did you use for the plunger rod and the white catch thing(i am assuming pvc but what)?

#235852 Dart Problem

Posted by ggk on 12 June 2009 - 03:28 PM in General Nerf

First off, is it brass or copper? Second what fbr do you use? third how long is your barrel?

#235866 Dart Problem

Posted by ggk on 12 June 2009 - 04:10 PM in General Nerf

Are you sure it is copper not brass? Copper is a red color. I think it is brass because I do not believe that there is such a thing as 9/16 copper.

#235881 Dart Problem

Posted by ggk on 12 June 2009 - 05:11 PM in General Nerf

It's copper. I know what copper looks like. The measurement is the outside of the pipe.

And the plunger is pretty much perfect now. It leaked at first, then I added the tape, now it's not leaking and it moves pretty smoothly.

Well copper is not sized the way brass is the od of 1/2" copper is 5/8" while the od of 1/2" brass is 1/2".
here is a pic of copper
Posted Image
here is brass

and yes copper is reddish.

Try goo gone. It does not usually do anything to plastic and it works on adhesive residue.

What are these kung fu panda cross bows you speak of?

#236268 Rainbow Highway Nerf Run June 27 2009

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 06:01 PM in Nerf Wars

Sorry but i do not understand still, Do you have a pic? Is it a completely new gun or a mod?

#236272 Vos Pistol

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 06:31 PM in Homemades

So Monk you make any progress on a larger scale version? I have been working on my own version and i am thinking if you increase the plunger diameter and stick it in a larger upper case you could keep the same length and increase the air out put substantially. I am thinking 2" PVC encasing a polycarbonate tube 2" in diameter.

#236344 A New Way To Take Away Boltsled Stress!

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 10:35 PM in Modifications

Actually it takes the stress off the part of the bolt sled that breaks.
I really like this mod it is convenient because my bolt sled just broke.
Edit all this mod needs is a return spring to bring in bolt.

#236349 Vos Pistol

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 10:48 PM in Homemades

Lt. Stefan with my idea I only need a 1 7/8" washer because that is the id of polytube that fits in the 2" pvc. I think it could really work, but I first plan to make out of stuff I have.

#236351 A New Way To Take Away Boltsled Stress!

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 10:51 PM in Modifications

Well I think my repair will work. But if it does not work I plan on doing this mod.

#236352 Rainbow Highway Nerf Run June 27 2009

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 10:55 PM in Nerf Wars

Do they work well? Like what kind of ranges do they get modded? Cause I have never seen them before.

#236361 Rainbow Highway Nerf Run June 27 2009

Posted by ggk on 14 June 2009 - 11:30 PM in Nerf Wars

Sounds cool. I really hope i can get down to nerf but who knows. i gotta get a few guns together to bring considering i think i only have 1 working gun.

do you think the kung fu panda thing will take a +bow spring?

#237281 Can Sombody Build A Gun For Me?

Posted by ggk on 18 June 2009 - 09:27 PM in Modifications

You should have put this in either the trading forum or pmed someone who does contracts.
But what kind of money are you looking to spend?

#237393 Angel Breech Question

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 12:23 PM in Modifications

Well the tightening rings help a little, but probably not enough. If you have darts that fit in 17/32 you should have used one size down for every piece of the breech.

#237397 Curious

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 12:27 PM in General Nerf

I actually believe it is 4 nib crossbows. But anyways that is pretty cool! I wish I was into this when you could buy those or at least kept the 3 crossbows my mom threw out.

#237403 Nerf Nade

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 12:43 PM in Homemades

Since someone else posted Alex have you made any progress on this thing? I thought it was a cool idea.

#237407 Angel Breech Question

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 12:54 PM in Modifications

Well the 19/32" is not what holds the dart it just covers the breech. Also I dont think stock length streamlines fit I know they did not on mine.

#237408 Curious

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 12:55 PM in General Nerf

Oh, i thought the box was small. Well it is still pretty cool I wish i had a crossbow.

#237411 Angel Breech Question

Posted by ggk on 19 June 2009 - 01:19 PM in Modifications

Well Homestarune I kinda agree but if he wants to waste the money he can go for it.

#238800 Rainbow Highway Nerf Run June 27 2009

Posted by ggk on 26 June 2009 - 06:06 PM in Nerf Wars

So it appears that I will be attending this war. My question is what foam do most of you guys use?

I ask because if you use foam that is good for 9/16" brass or petg and had extra, I would be interested in possibly purchasing some foam and possibly a few lengths of petg.

Also I was wondering if anyone that is planning on going is from the east side of Cleveland and had room in their car or would like to car pool.

#238854 Rainbow Highway Nerf Run June 27 2009

Hey I am just about to go to sleep and I am wondering what time should I get there in the morning? I am wondering because I have read the first post a few times and I can't see a time for when it is starting.

#238944 Ls/dtg Revisited

Posted by ggk on 27 June 2009 - 08:47 PM in Modifications

AssassinNF do you think you could possibly take a close up picture of the attachment points? Preferably in and out. Mainly so I could see where you cut it.
Thanks either way! And nice mod I really do like it.

Also I hope you do not mind if I try and recreate this mod.

#239011 Ls/dtg Revisited

Posted by ggk on 28 June 2009 - 10:29 AM in Modifications

The Shell attachment points please. I have mine cut and ready to be attached, but I am unsure on where to place the screws.
One other thing what size screws did you use?

Thanks again!
