#1258 Condition Orange

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 10 February 2003 - 04:53 PM in Off Topic

Yes, but this new one is pretty much all the Department of Homeland Defense and Security by Taking Your Rights has done, so it's better.

Not like anyone understands it, anyways.....

I worship GuntherMobile.

#1006 Are You An Old Nerfer?

Anyone remember the Pheonix and Pheonix 2? I'll give you a hint: Balth

Remember a topic named "Weird" on NC?

You know what NoobCentral is/was.

You remember when the sight of a Ballzooka struck fear into your heart.

You knew of/owned a Crossbow before you found the NIC.

#782 Counter-strike And Other Hl Mod Players Here!

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 22 January 2003 - 03:41 PM in Off Topic

The only part that takes a lot of learning is the Commander mode, which is the least fun part, in my opinion. Learning the maps also makes you better, because at first you will just wander aimlessly around the gigantic maps.

Oh, yeah. I go by Confucious in most games.

It's all about fy_iceworld.

That, and Natural Selection.

#741 H2h In Nerf.

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 20 January 2003 - 11:21 PM in General Nerf

Ok, I'm not sure what kind of people you nerf with, but using H2H in our wars is out of the question. Guys starting throwing punches and guns when they get shot by a BBB from too close. I can't even imagine the chaos that would ensue if I hit some guy with a padded piece of PVC pipe. I can't have people going home bloodied up.

Maybe you guys don't get as into the war as we do. Or maybe you just don't have a bunch of short-tempered teenage guys playing. Whatever it is, H2H won't work for us.

I don't know, maybe a mild sedative would work?

Your pump will give out before the tank.

Hm, the AT3000 and AT4000 are almost identical to the sm3000 on the inside.

#443 Ranting Or Just Telling The Truth?

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 08 January 2003 - 09:33 PM in Site Feedback

Uh, maybe you aren't as competitive as me and my friends were when you were little, but we made games out of everything, with more rules than one of Calvin and Hobbes baseball games. Rules are needed for a sport, and one hit kill games get old, especially with the 4 people we started out with.

#442 Multi-shot Homemade

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 08 January 2003 - 09:26 PM in Homemades

No, but I've got a friend who made an air cannon with multiple solenoid valves hooked to the same switch to increase airflow. Its like the PAC 5, and shoots golf balls a half mile.

#434 Ranting Or Just Telling The Truth?

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 08 January 2003 - 03:25 PM in Site Feedback

East/West Coast rules are pretty much the only ways to play. You either count after you get hit or you don't. Each changes the tactics and choice of weapons drastically, so telling people what kind of war they will be having is helpful. Although, calling it East/West Coast is mostly an online thing, which I assume is coined from the original NIC members different game styles.

Conforming can be good for communication's sake.

It's still way too far from the Great Lake State of Michigan.

#366 Rapid Fire Guns

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 06 January 2003 - 09:30 PM in General Nerf

Uh, two guys behind a few tables with their BBBs fixed on the only entrance to the room can hold off pretty darn good. Especially when they each have a PC and an extra clip in their lap.

See, we have an auto for about half the people playing. You can't run in or you are dead.

And it's not that they are afraid of getting hurt from the guns, it's they are afraid of losing.

#357 Rapid Fire Guns

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 06 January 2003 - 03:43 PM in General Nerf

Yeah, we do that, but then people get REALLY OVERLY cautious.

#351 The Great Debate!

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 05 January 2003 - 08:04 PM in General Nerf

Micros are superior for two reasons.

1. Because of the lower cross-sectional area, they leave the gun at a greater velocity. It takes less time for your plunger or air tank to fill a 1/2" barrel than a 5/8" barrel.

2. Because of the lower cross-sectional area, they are much more aerodynamic and thus retain their velocity better - resulting in greater distance.

Nothing else is really a factor. Any dart is as heavy as the weight you put in it. Any dart flies straight if you make it straight, center the weight, and make sure it's weighted heavily enough.

Oh yeah?! Well, YOUR MOM HAS A LOWER CROSS-SECTIONAL AREA!

#346 The Great Debate!

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 05 January 2003 - 03:03 PM in General Nerf

We use Megas mostly. This is because they are heavier and thusly fly straighter. Not as fast, but isn't dodging half the fun?

#304 Rapid Fire Guns

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 03 January 2003 - 06:49 PM in General Nerf

Playing East Coast rules, rapid firing guns make judging hits hard. Counting the number of hits on someone can be hard when you are surprised or under fire yourself. And when 1 dart can mean the difference between life and death, set rules are needed.

There are a few ways we use to determine a kill or not:

-Count close quarters hits with automatics as instant kills

-Have low life (5hp or lower) so there won't be disputes about kills

-Take into account the situation (aka,rock/paper/scissors)

How do you handle rapidfire guns? There are problems with all of my solutions, and I'm in need of some other ones. For example, I've often been low on ammo and loaded only every other dart in a clip and held off an attack from just fear. But if I did shoot it, it wouldn't be fair to say that counts just as much as unloading a full wildfire.

So yeah, what do you do?

#303 Are You An Old Nerfer?

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 03 January 2003 - 06:22 PM in General Nerf

Yeah, I only get 6 of those. Wait, do we have to know Stealthblade personally?

#299 Are You An Old Nerfer?

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 03 January 2003 - 05:05 PM in General Nerf

3 holsters?! Shit, I have 5 of those. Oh, and the Sharp Shooter is THE gun of the gods. I have about 3 or 4 different kinds of darts for it:

The original with the fins

The more normal dart with a pink suction cup

And two others that work for it.

#272 Teamwork:

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 02 January 2003 - 08:36 PM in General Nerf

Whenever I nerf, the teams are almost always different. We try to make balanced teams, changing players, guns, and starting positions each round. We only have 2 hardkore nerfers in our loose nerfing group of 16, so standing teams never worked out for us.

Teamwork is usually present in our games, but in an open area, with small to medium sized teams, a bunch of lone wolfs can take out a well coordinated team.

It's hard to form an effective counter when there's no group to counter.

#198 Dumpster Diving Prevails Once More!

Dude, I have a nerf mobile, too. It's a gold-plated pikachu Razor scooter with a Wildfire attached to the front! I use it to back up my Nerf paratroopers!

The anger in this thread brings me waves of nostalgia. Oh, NO, maybe you will be reborn here!

#197 Reckoning 2003

Posted by Sacapuntas Cabesa on 29 December 2002 - 09:18 PM in Nerf Wars

Since when did every Nerf War have to sound like some god-damn wrestling pay per view special?

My question is when did nerf wars start getting organized? Have I been out of the loop THAT much?
