#200721 Potential?

Posted by umpshaplapa on 02 January 2009 - 11:07 PM in General Nerf

I was searching on amazon when I found this.

I used to have a super-soaker that looked similar to this.
From what I can tell the pump is on the back-pack thing, possibly making this semi-auto if modded?
I was wondering if anyone had found/modded one of these before, and if so what happend.

Also if this is posted in the wrong place, sorry. I couldn't decide where to post it.

#200720 Doomsayer Question

Posted by umpshaplapa on 02 January 2009 - 11:03 PM in Modifications

Whatever you do, do not cut the plunger head to fit back on, I did that and now it won't stay on...

Do you mean like cut straight through it and then glue it together?

#200701 Doomsayer Question

Posted by umpshaplapa on 02 January 2009 - 10:24 PM in Modifications

Get a hair dryer and set it to high put the peice under it for like 5-10 min. then try.

Does that work better than boiling water? I've been trying that method with bad results.

#200692 Doomsayer Question

Posted by umpshaplapa on 02 January 2009 - 09:46 PM in Modifications

Dude, if you use brass it will cost a lot more than it should, then you would must likely want to nest it for protection from the tarnish monsters. So you would then have 24' of tubing on the end of your weapon.

Good point, hadn't thought of that.

#200660 Doomsayer Question

Posted by umpshaplapa on 02 January 2009 - 07:20 PM in Modifications

So I've opened up my doomsayer-to-be (hopefully) and I can't get the rubber plunger head back on. Getting it off was pretty easy but back on is impossible!
I was just seeing if you guys had any tips to help.

edit- 1 more question. Do you guys think that brass would be to heavy to use as barrelling (sp?) material? I saw that a guy did it with PVC but I was worried about how long that would last.

#199771 Dual Stage Coil Gun From Longshot

Posted by umpshaplapa on 30 December 2008 - 12:48 PM in Modifications

As cool as all hell as this is, I'm afraid that firing steel bolts at extreme velocities is a far cry away from what nerfing is all about. Nerf is fun because you can shoot at people and they... you know, don't die.

For a more foam friendly version, is there anyway to engineer the magnetic field to propel a steel plunger head through a tube instead, effectively allowing it to shoot foam darts?

Still... coooool.

He obviously didn't make it with the intent of bringing it to a nerf war, you goon

Dude calm down. He complemented it and even gave you a suggestestion on how to make it fire foam.

#199763 Sm750 Problems

Posted by umpshaplapa on 30 December 2008 - 12:16 PM in Modifications

Fuck man 44 times? I hope that is a typo. I told you to pump the thing 4 times. Yeah, 44 times would shoot the check valve to hell. That's likely your problem. I know you can buy check valves from McMaster.

I think his tank would explode before the valve died.
The same thing happened to me with an AT2k pump. The pump would shoot back out if you tried to pump it. But ya, it's the check valve in your pump.

#199338 Expanding Foam

Has anyone tried to make darts using expanding foam in a mold?
And yes I have seen people use that foam for silencing.

#199223 Cpvc, And Where To Buy

Also see if there are any instructions on the paint itself, and if so follow them.

#196906 Fall Seno Recap

Posted by umpshaplapa on 17 December 2008 - 11:40 PM in Nerf Wars

At the summer SENO I just hung out for the first eight minutes or so of the Free For All round. Camping works, it's not the most fun, and some people say its cheap, but it is effective.

Why would you choose the less-fun option while playing with toys?

#196283 Lock N Load Spring And Barrel Mod

Posted by umpshaplapa on 15 December 2008 - 01:04 AM in Modifications

I didn't know 1/4 pvc existed...

On topic: It would probably have helped to use some plumers goop in the barrel for sealing it. I have no idea what apex means, can you please explain?

#196262 Is Sanding Necessary Before A Paint Job?

Posted by umpshaplapa on 14 December 2008 - 11:30 PM in Modifications

The title says it all. I'm using vinyl dye to paint my guns if that matters.

I'm not familiar with vinyl dye, but one my paint it says that sanding isn't needed. Maybe you could check there. I don't think you ever NEED to do it, but your results will probably turn out better if you do sand.

Are you sure your plunger rod moves back far enough for it to catch? That happend to me the first time I tried, and it wasnt making it to the catch.

#194346 Spin On Ice's Ls Dtb

Posted by umpshaplapa on 06 December 2008 - 03:20 PM in Modifications

It depends on what you need. I have several Ls' and one singled one. Mine has a SHIT ton of springs in there, and is isn't showing signs of stress. It has high range, bordering that of my Xbow, higher rof, and it's available. I personally HATE the stock breach set up. It doesn't take stefans, Its finicky, doesn't have great range, and you half to deal with clips. The Ice breach fixes all of this.

How many/what type of spring do you have in there? Is it a bitch to cock?

#194192 Doubleshot Won't Fire From One Barrel...

Posted by umpshaplapa on 05 December 2008 - 10:33 PM in Modifications

I've had a doubleshot for a while now, and recently the left barrel has stopped working. The plunger catches just fine and it seems like it's in working order, until I actually load it. The dart doesn't even leave the shell. The right barrel works great, so I don't know what could be wrong.

So I'm asking if anyone knows what the problem could be for when I open it up and try to fix it. Any suggestions?

Doesn't the DS use hoses to run the air from the plunger tube to the barrel? Maybe one of the hoses came loose or something. I'm just guessing.
I would recomend just opening it up to see if there is anything obvious.

#194191 Spin On Ice's Ls Dtb

Posted by umpshaplapa on 05 December 2008 - 10:31 PM in Modifications

I get it. It works like when you move the nf plunger tube up to get more air volume. he is using more plunger (longer draw) not more spring. I need to do this..

That explains it ALL. But it depends on when the springs you put into it bottom out.

I have a LS and BBB spring combo in there. I reinforced the catch to, now that they compress fully it probably needs it.

#194134 Spin On Ice's Ls Dtb

Posted by umpshaplapa on 05 December 2008 - 06:07 PM in Modifications

^ Links to the bigger pictures.

Umpshaplapa, I don't understand how moving it forward would help either unless you cut down the bolt head. Can you please get us pictures of your plunger assembly put togeather AND disassembled?

It's the same assembly Ice used in his writeup. With the same 5.5 inch peice of cpvc he used. I don't really get how it adds more dead-space though. the air still has to travel the length of the cpvc in Ice's mod.

#194076 Spin On Ice's Ls Dtb

Posted by umpshaplapa on 05 December 2008 - 07:45 AM in Modifications

I thought of that as well, but you just created a whole shit load of dead space.

I realize that, but I had like 3 longshots for some reason and I decided to just try it out.

#194063 Spin On Ice's Ls Dtb

Posted by umpshaplapa on 05 December 2008 - 12:19 AM in Modifications

Hey haven!
I was following Ice's LS DTB write-up when I realized the springs were only being used to about half of their full power.
So I did what I thought was natural, move the entire barrel assembly forward.
To do it, I simply dremeled out a path for it, and glued (spelling?) the dart chamber in place.
Here are some pics.

Sorry for double posting, but do you notice on the first pic where it says, " rip off a rapid fire 5 dart blast!" If they took out the A, it would be," rip off rapid fire 5 dart blast!"

I don't get it.

#193717 Buzz Bee Shell Mod

Posted by umpshaplapa on 03 December 2008 - 07:51 AM in Modifications

I drilled out the back of a shell I had. The range actually got worse. Any reason why? Also, can you do this mod without a soldering iron? I forgot to add that I only drilled the shell and removed the peg, nothing else.
