I'm fuckin' beyond ready and excited for this war. This is gonna be a dumb question, and you can all troll me to your hearts desire, but does canada take US currency?
Well the only place I know that will is Timmies, but for everything else, no.

This my 3k, and since I have little to no sense of repeatable accuracy, I put a short piece of CPVC that I look though to line up with the 2ft barrel.
#286603 Printed Nerf Gun

I hope you are thinking of making your blaster look wicked sick or utilizing some kind of innovative design, because otherwise, using this to make blasters is quite unnecessary.
So this is my personal design so far, no rendering or prettified edges yet.
#286566 Printed Nerf Gun
Posted by k9turrent on 04 October 2010 - 05:43 PM in Homemades
I poked around on the site, and I found that they sell a 3d scanner. I wonder if it can scan Nerf gun parts, and then you could print them in ABS.
Well thats only for the laser cut pieces, you still have to supply the other $250 equipment.
Any who I've almost finished the mechanics of the pistol

Anyone else hoping for this to go wrong, right in front of his face? The plunger consist of a long and skinny metal rod, with a ring of E tape. It is bent around the string to hold it.
It's been done, the idiots fired a tagger out of .44 black powder. it didn't end well.I'm sure someone could make a blackpowder nerf gun, or something ridiculous like that, but the purpose of nerfing isn't to propel a dart as far as humanly possible. We play with toys.
And without further a do...
OBVIOUS TROLL IS OBVIOUS

Maybe you already answered this, but does the catch at the end of the plunger rod require a lathe to fabricate? Thanks, and fabulous work (again): can't wait to get my hands on one.
No I've made a simillar catch in the last couple days, I only needed a drill and dremel for the face plate and a set of hardware for the rod

#282236 Which Saw To Get?
Posted by k9turrent on 05 August 2010 - 06:14 PM in General Nerf
If you lack control to cut rather straight with a dremel or handsaw, I don't want to know what will happen to you using a scroll saw. So firstly, you should build control and experience with your dremel before you go to bigger saws and stuff. Practice makes perfect!
Well I'm rather crappy at making clean cuts with a dremel, yet I can band saw rather precisely. Different set of skill but same concept.

....but one slip at the band saw and in an instant you might need to start learning about prosthetic arms. If you do get a band saw, learn how to adjust and use all the blade guards, and set them up carefully every single time.
Seconded, I've taken off a good chunk of flesh off my thumb knuckle from not using a part plusher.

2. the bolt moves back into the PT firing the dart
rinse and repeat

The VAIO you linked would work pretty well for gaming, as long as you go into the BIOS and devote some more RAM to the graphic chipset.
I've always like VAIOs. They look really sleek, and their build quality seems pretty good. K9, is the keyboard on that model backlit? If so, then thats probably the model I'll buy when I go off to college.
On the laptop subject, never buy HP.
The Fw line doesn't usualy have the backlit keys, but you really don't need it, especially if you need to game covertly in class.

Yes yes yes...We can all get that for $729 at TigerDirect. I'm not sure how much it's gonna be like that, but it seems like a good deal. A few questions K9, since you're in college, how hard is it to lug around? Does it fit into a standard 17" neoprene case and backpack?
~Nrg
EDIT: Here's a link.
The model you linked to is a couple steps down from mine, I have a full Gig for the GPU, mind you I bought mine last year so the price has droppped.
Weight to me is an issue, I personally bike/bus to class and it is a bitch. The days I don't have to bring it in, I'm so friggin glad, Cause the computer + gear (Gaming mouse, charger & random cables) weighs a good 10lbs; it doest seem like a lot, but it is.
And It does fit in a standard case and bag.
Pros:
-Nice keyboard (need to get used to it)
-GPU works for gaming
-Blu-ray (haven't realy used it, but it's cool for bragging)
-Good support from sony (they replaced the HDD twice already; my fault, not theirs)
-Fancy LEDs
-Solid build quality
Cons:
-Heavy
-GPU was opitmized for entertainment, not gaming
-Can run a little hot
-Stupid thing drains battery slowly when off (see notes below)
-Battery life is meh (Mine is fully upgraded, so it would have less battery life compared to a less powerful one)
-Sony VAIOs don't like to be handled roughly (it's a company thing)
-Bloatware is a bitch
**The computer uses some power to monitor the power button (5%/day). Can be stopped by taking the battery out just after turing it off

Specs:
-17" 16:9
-4Gb ram
-Dual Core 2.1GHz
-ATI Radeon 4650
-Blu-ray drive
Worth it?
Yes, yes it is, the damn thing is a bit over priced but the damn thing isnt going to be outdated for a couple years
(FYI Sony VAIOs dont like being handled roughly, let alone violent rage quits relating to TF2)

Imagine a Semi-auto revolver:
1. Pull the trigger back causes the hammer to be pulled back
2. Pulling the trigger past a certain point causes the hammer to be released
3. The Hammer slams into the back of the cartridge.
It's the exact same method except the cartrige is actually a vavle
The following link is to a Paintball design website in which they describe the many variations of the hammer valve:

#277744 Homemade At2k Tank
Posted by k9turrent on 14 June 2010 - 05:51 PM in Homemades
I think that This tank is a lot sturdier than the real thing, meaning that higher pressures could be made and may make it non-war legal.Real 2k tanks don't have one, so why should this? You would just not plug whatever pump you are using.
And This is why it was recommend to not plug the pump to ensure that safe pressures are used, and I actually recommend in using a pressure gage to also improve consistences.
