EDIT: For vision protection if you have glasses like the kind you need to see better, does that count?

I would recommend against just those as eye protection. The reason is that if they aren't shatter resistant the lenses could get broken and the frames could get bent or damaged either way. I'd recommend picking up chemistry goggles to fit over your glasses to protect the lenses and frames.

I got my sample pack a while ago and got around to making a couple of the darts which (using the full length foam) did NOT fire out of my hoppered +bow at all.

Actually it was Wicket that made that foam fork, not me. And the modded bow was for NIU Humans Vs Zombies, mostly for range but knocking a zombie to the ground was a nice plus.
As for the melee stuff that was for a group called The Northern Horde.

I modded the Surefire bow for a friend of mine awhile back after wrapping the front elastic around the pulleys once and replacing the back elastic with surgical tubing. This got it MUCH better ranges and impressive stopping power.
EDIT: Ranges varied from shot to shot from about 90+ to 150 ft (How that happened I don't know) with about 100 ft being the average. In regards to the stopping power, it knocked me (5'10" 200lb at the time) off my feet when I was struck at about 15 ft.

Did you have to cut the foam at all to fit the hopper? In the video the foam looks pretty long, and in my experience hoppers tend to only accept < 1.5" stefans

I've gotten regular streamlines to fire out of a hoppered +plus bow (8.5 inch 17/32" brass barrel), so I doubt any foam cutting would be required.

Is the area we're nerfing in a park or something? Because I don't have a GPS and we're using Mapquest.

Toss the coordinates into Google Maps and it will kick out an address for MapQuest or GPS units that can't take straight coordinates.

It was possible to do it manually (at least from what I did) as when I signed up my default Display Name was my login name. I was able to change that under the old software that forum used. However now that doesn't appear to be the case.

For a micro sized dart, the weight will probably be too much for even a high powered blaster. However a mega sized dart or a mongo dart (and the blasters capable of firing them) that might be a better weight for those larger darts.

Really the whole day was awesome.
+ Biggest war I've been to yet, and possibly the biggest in the Midwest so far.
+ BritNerf is actually a real person, and a cool one at that
+ Sword fight, nuff said. Valor I want to see that video posted
+ SorrowX's turret works and held up during the war. My darts were a different story

3/16" steel balls weigh about .44g, #6 washers about .6g. So, 3/16" steel weights should be fine unless Demonlord has a problem with round weights.

Thank you for that info Kane, I wasn't aware of the weight differences. 3/16'' steel weights are allowed.

I'm not outright banning anything. This includes Jobars/Cobras and waterguns. If yours proves to be too dangerous I'll ask you to put it down

Two things unique to this war and I really doubt it will be a problem, but I want to cover any liabilities first: 1. Don't refer to darts as "bullets," they are darts/slugs/foam projectiles and 2. Put "nerf" in front of "gun."
DeKalb has had one major shooting and several smaller ones and I'd really like to avoid people calling the cops on us from mishearing something.

Try not to curse loudly, if ever. We are in a public park after all.

Lunch is a good idea, as well as cash/trades to broker deals between rounds and before/after the war
There are several fast food places nearby for lunch, or you can bring your own.

The slug type darts I mentioned are simply single BB or 3/16th ball weight stefans that have no hot glue dome, just hot glue securing them in the foam with a flat felt tip covering the dart and the hot glue.

GAMETYPE RULES

Bombing Run

A ball is placed in the center of the field/war ground with two or more teams on different sides of the field. Each team has a "hoop" with the objective to run the ball and toss it into/through another team's hoop. One point per toss, 3 to win. Unlimited spawns, touch and go spawning with set team specific spawn points.

Destruction

Pieces of a titan are scattered about the field. Each team has a base and must launch and land a missle within 10 feet of the base flag to destroy the base. Unlimited spawns with a touch and go spawning unless hit with a titan missle, which carries a 30 spawn timer.

I received a stock clear NF a while back and discovered that it would not shoot stock ammo at all. It seems to me that the clear series of blasters seems to have more defects than the standard ones.

I want to point out that my slugs last for wars, as almost everyone in the Midwest who as used them can attest to. The trick is to burn a hole below the washer, then place the washer over that lake of glue and then apply the weight and felt pad. As for the felt pad, "kiss" it with flame lightly to melt the felt slightly. This will greatly increase the lifespan of the felt pad.

I'm going to direct people to a post that convinced most of the Midwest crowd to switch over to slug darts:

That being said, it is up to the war host to determine what's allowed and what isn't. At the couple of MN wars I've been to the only darts used where slugs and stock, as a result no gun bans were needed. I got hit from close range with singled Titans and Jobar/Cobras and came back with no broken skin, just a minor irritation from where I got hit. Don't get me wrong, I felt the hits, but I didn't get any permanent damage, unlike at Chano 3. There I got hit in the funny bone with a slingshot dart and lost use of my left hand for several minutes and complete feeling for several hours. That could have been permanent damage had it been at a slightly different spot.

E-tape and screws will be your friend. You only really need to glue/goop the front bushing/coupler in anyway, as you can just unscrew the back and pull out the mechanism behind the SNAP.

February is one of the coldest months of the year. It just may be too cold to snow.
