#311922 VANS Are Not Slugs

I don't understand; why do you have to remove the adhesive? Wouldn't that help it bond to the silicone better?

Defend the Core

Fun defense game, but can lead to stalemates.

Supplies

- Some sort of heavy container ( I use cheap plastic bins from walmart with holes cut the sides, painted bright orange)

- Timer

Core Rules

Divide up your players into equal two teams, attackers and defenders. The objective of the attackers is to shoot as many darts into the "core" AKA the container as fast as they can. They have infinite respawns. The defenders try to prevent the attackers from shooting into the core. They have a limited amount of respawns. Decide how many respawns the defenders will get, depending on how much cover is in close proximity to the core. The more cover, the less respawns and vice versa. Choose respawn locations for attackers and defenders, and respawn times. Start the game and the timer (five minutes is good). The round ends when time runs out, then the teams switch around. Whichever team gets the most darts in is the winner.

Variations

Can't think of any.

Convoy

This is mostly for shits and giggles. Stuffing grown men in wagons isn't exactly practical, unless you have a wagon fetish, in which case you shouldn't be nerfing.

Supplies

- Couple of Wagons (the bigger the better)

- Cones to Mark Respawnd

Core Rules

Establish two teams, attackers and convoyers. The attackers goal is of the attackers is to eliminate the convoy. Set the attackers respawn points along the pathway of the convoy. Set respawn rate to whatever based on your setup. The "convoy" consists of wagons, with one armed person in the wagon, and one unarmed driver. Any leftover players can help to escort the convoy. The goal for the convoy is to get at least one wagon from point A to point B without having the entire convoy be eliminate. When a convoy member is out, they are out for the rest of round. If you are in the wagon and your driver is eliminated, you have to stay in the wagon, unless there is no one left except you. this game will take a little tweaking to get all the variables right; the pathway for the convoy, respawn points for attackers, but once you get it right, it is one hell of a game.

Variations

When convoyers are eliminated, they join the attackers.

#311789 War Gametypes

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 24 February 2012 - 08:55 PM in Nerf Wars

One in the Chamber

A fun, fast paced free-for-all that encourages ridiculous maneuvers.

Supplies

- Some sort of Pistol

- Short, dagger-like melee weapon, i.e. Klaw

Core Rules

Every player starts with two darts, one loaded, and the other in a pocket (or other orfice, he, he). All players start an equal distance apart. If you hit or melee someone, you claim their extra dart, and that player sits out for the rest of the round. If you miss, you can not use the dart that you are storing, but you can use melee weapons at any time. You can store surplus darts that collect from other players. Game ends when one person is left.

Varients

Each player has three stored darts instead of one (which means you have three lives instead of one) and respawn locations are implemented for extended play.

#311710 Game Types and Rules for Nerf Wars

This hurts my feelings. Now excuse me, I need to go cut myself.

RE: YOUR EDIT RE: YOUR EDIT EDIT: Well that clears it up then.

#311704 War Gametypes

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 23 February 2012 - 05:21 PM in Nerf Wars

EXAMPLE POST!

Team Deathmatch

A basic gametype, perfect for any war

Supplies
- Cones (Optional)

Core Rules

Divide up two teams. Each player is armed with one primary and one secondary. Decide how many lives each player will have, the respawn locations (one for each side), and how long it will take to respawn. A classic setup is three lives and fifteen second respawn, commonly referred to as 3/15. if you want, mark respawn areas with cones. To start the game, each team starts at their respective respawn locations, and battle each other. When a player is hit, said player loses one life, and has to return to their respawn location. Once they spend their allotted time respawning, they can return to the action. The player is out once they run out of lives. Game ends when either team is eliminated.

Variations

Death Match

Every man for themselves, respawn locations are neutral.

#311703 War Gametypes

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 23 February 2012 - 05:01 PM in Nerf Wars

This will hopefully be a comprehensive collection of gametypes, useful for war host, who want to find new and interesting ways to spice up wars, or for noobs, who have no idea what 3/15 TDM is. Please, do not make comments on other peoples gametypes! If you have a question, PM the poster, and hopefully they will make any nessesary amends to their post. When you post, please use the template below; this will help to stave off confusion, and keep everything neat and tidy. In addition, keep pictures to a minimum (or even better, none at all!). Before you post a game type, SEARCH THE THREAD to see if some else has already posted the same thing. We don't need a million posts about Defend the Core.
Well, that's enough rambling, here's the template!

Gametype Name

(introduce your gametype and give credit to people if needed)

Supplies, if Appliable

(insert list of supplies here)

Core rules

(give us a in depth rundown of the basic rules)

Variations, if any

(tweaks to the rules, if any)

Make sure the plunger tube is mounted in the notch near the turret, otherwise the air won't be directed to the dart:

Very nice looking, but I am not sure where the catch is. Can you provide some more closeup pictures of the internals?

#311513 Aerodynamics of Dart Heads

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 19 February 2012 - 10:17 PM in Darts and Barrels

Is this a computer program? And why is the first dart flattened on one side?

What software is this? And why do the darts appear as though they were drawn in MS paint?

Insan3 Crab, it's an iPad app.

Aeromech, because its drawing capabilities are very limited.

I was wondering what different shapes of dart heads will do to affect the airflow around dart. Here is a few diagrams:

#311434 Simple and Durable Plunger Head Padding

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 18 February 2012 - 05:17 PM in Modifications

So you put padding on top of the goop then?

No, the Silcon sealant itself is the padding. When cured it has the viscosity of very soft rubber.

#311432 Simple and Durable Plunger Head Padding

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 18 February 2012 - 05:08 PM in Modifications

I don't get how this is padding? How is this any more, if any, more durable than craft foam or using part of a BBB arrow?

It adheres better to the plastic of the plunger head. Foam is made of cells right? Overtime, the impact between the head and the end of the tube will collapse those cells, making it less and less effective with each impact.

#311430 Simple and Durable Plunger Head Padding

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 18 February 2012 - 04:42 PM in Modifications

Ok, so this is my first "real" post on NerfHaven, so let's see how it goes! (Feedback would be great!)

When you upgrade a spring, it exerts more force on the plunger head/tube, and you run the risk of destroying your internals. When I was perusing the aquarium supplies selection at at Petco, I saw something that made a light go off in my head.

Supplies Needed

--Silcon-based Aquarium Sealent

--A Toothpick or something equivalent

--Masking Tape

--Plunger Head of Choice

Posted Image

STEP 1

Read ALL the warnings on the packaging of your sealant. It really sucks if you do this in a unventilated area, and you end up smelling like vinegar.

Posted Image

STEP 2

Put a nice big dollop on the head; I used latex gloves to put it roughly where I wanted it, and then used a toothpick to finish it up.

Posted Image

(And no, that orange stuff is not a ginger's pubic hair, it's felt, dummy.)

STEP 3

You're almost done! Put some masking tape around the head to make sure it doesn't ooze down the sides, and put it outside to set. Give it about 24 hours to fully set.

Posted Image

That's it!

Questions? Comments? Flames?

#311281 Glossary

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 15 February 2012 - 06:50 PM in General Nerf

RSCB: A type of clip/magazine that works by tipping the blaster forward to seat a dart in the barrel. Commonly used in higher powered blasters, as the system contains excessive amounts of dead space.

PETG: PETG is a clear amorphous thermoplastic that can be injection molded or sheet extruded. It can be colored during processing. Is commonly used as a barrel material for air powered blasters.

Dead Space: the term used for unneeded space in a blaster.

Stefan: a homemade dart.

Dome: a Stefan made with hot glue for a tip.

Slug: a Stefan made with a washer for a weight and a felt pad for the tip (was originally conceived by CaptainSlug, therefore named after him).

There's a few!

Would a Klaw count? Also, I don't have that many darts, so I was wondering if I could buy some off anyone at the war. If so, could said person give me a price range?

#310902 NiteShot Help

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 08 February 2012 - 11:33 AM in Modifications

I had a longshot PT, and a busted nitefinder, so I followed Ice Nine's instructions to make this:

Only problem is, I'm getting pretty abyssmal performance for such a larger plunger tube. It has a stock o ring on the head, and the spring combination is that of a Barrel Break and Nitefinder (newer model):

So I was wondering, what could I do to increase the performance? What is the best spring/spring combo for something like this?

Thanks in advance,

Very nice for a reverse plunger blaster; (well, it's not anymore,) it all is very clean. Just one question. Where will the pump be located?

#310598 noob question broken plunger tube shaft

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 02 February 2012 - 06:42 PM in Modifications

Personally, I have never modded a Alpha Trooper, but the best way (in my experience) to fix some thing like that is to carefully glue the tube together in the correct alignment with super glue, then finish it off with a bit of epoxy putty. This will make the plunger tube a bit bulkier, so you may need to sand down parts of the shell to make it fit back in.

Hope this helps!

#310539 maverick turret problem

Lubing the rotation mechanism might help; if that doesn't work, swipe a sanding block lightly over the plunger head a few times to loosen it up a bit.

#310255 Titan Help

Posted by KaptainKrazy on 28 January 2012 - 08:10 AM in Modifications

If you have plugged pump, the pressure inside the air tank might be pushing too hard on the release valve. Doing a bic pen mod on the firing pin will help, but if you're lazy, you can just hot glue over the spring on the firing pin.

2)Creating devices that fire lethal projectiles is illegal.
3)It sounds dangerous as hell.
