Does anyone know how this thing works?

Looks pretty spiffy but based on the quarrel design I'm concerned that it uses a string rather than air pressure to launch them. If anyone has one, let us know!

What you do is you pull the little cocking mehcanism back, then you place the arrow thingies on there.When you shoot it the whole plunger shoots with it releasing the arrow. Kinda a bad description but i dont think it could be modified to shoot nerf projectiles.

Well, if I read your post correctly, it seems as if you pull back the plunger and load the arrows inside. In this case, I think modifying it to shoot darts wouldn't be very hard. By replacing the plunger tube to the proper size and putting a PVC/brass barrel on the front, in theory it'll work.

Hmm...interesting. Not sure how that would work, it looks like you prime with that thing in the back. Otherwise than that, I haven't the slightest. I oughta' ask for one for my birthday in June and take a shot at modding it.

Julie gave me my Uruk-Hai Crossbow today. Early testing suggests probable 50-70' flat range modded. Here are some pics closed, open, and size comparison. I didn't assemble the (cosmetic) xbow arms. It's powered by the elastic bands you see near the front.

Yeah, that's what I'm basing my modded range estimation on. I dropped in a 1' brass barrel and it got about 40' flat without being anywhere near air tight. It's similar in many ways to the EaB. Large pistol with huge air volume and potential for a mostly internal barrel replacement.

Yes, the whole black tube is the plunger tube. The design is interesting in that the plunger tube does the moving while the plunger sits still at the back of the barrel.

I think it's (barely) small enough to be holsterable and powerful enough to be a good primary.

I'm revising my range estimate up to the 80-100' ballpark.

Testing it this afternoon, will post results and writeup tonight.

So does your barrel move along with the plunger tube? If it didn't then there would be wasted space. Either that or I'm not getting how this works.

The outer tube and bushing move. The barrel and rubber flange don't. The back end of the outer tube is sealed.

Did you replace the spring?
I think you said that it was a compression spring gun. Or, I'm wrong and its not spring powered at all.

It's powered by the elastic tubing. There is no spring.

However, if you wanted to avoid external banding, an expansion spring could be placed between the rightmost light gray collar and the back of the gun, over the large plunger tube.

I understand how it works, the rubber plunger is fixed to the barrel, and the outer tube moves on it, like in the Warthog. Just think about it, its pretty simple.
