A: Cause we said so.

Q: What makes this different from other Nerf sites?
A: We have tried to create a fluid and autonomous Nerf bulletin board system that will eventually be able to operate sans administrative intervention. We hope to institute the Karma system used prominently by www.slashdot.org . This system will allow our boards to tailor themselves to their clientele as no nerf community has done before. Of course we will bolster this with Groove's "Death by Foam", other original content, and our own general ass kicking.

Q: What the fuck is "Death by Foam"?
A: DBF is a web comic written and drawn by our chief contributor, Groove. Groove made popular his other original nerf based web comic "Nerfaholics" on NerfOnline, and has since refined his style and methods.

Q: So why the new site?
A: We may be best known for our contributions to the former community hub, NerfOnline, but we have long desired to set out on our own project. The earlier merger between NO and the X-forums gave us the opportunity we had been waiting for to duck out and start our own site. We believe that we can put a new spin on how these things should be run, and we thought and still think others will appreciate our way of doing it as well.

Q: What is/was NerfOnline?
A: A hugely popular nerf site run by Hal Bergman, and recently closed. We were long time contributors to the site.

Q: What will let this site succeed where others have failed?
A: We plan on drawing on the resources of the nerf community as a whole, and our own pools of knowledge to keep this site on the bleeding edge of Nerf, and, if nothing else, to keep things interesting.

Q: Ok, I've seen these foam shooting toys, but I have no idea what the hell you people are talking about...what is Nerf?
A: Nerf is of course the subdivision of Larami, which in turn is a subdivision of Hasbro. It produces foam firing toy "blasters" and soft sports equipment. However, as long as there have been nerf guns there have been people taking them way too seriously. We take them apart, we modify them, and we shoot them at each other in large gatherings. In recent years these gatherings, thanks to increasing internet organization, have become larger and further reaching than ever before.

The online nerfing community has contributed, more than any other force, to the overall growth of this sport. There have been nerf sites produced by nerfers online almost as long as the Internet has been readily available to the public, and the first real online gathering occurred on the Nerf-Listserve more than 10 years ago. It was started by a nerfer named Stefan, and Spoon and Vacc were the first two joining members. It quickly grew and eventually branched out to what it is today; a massive community spread over dozens of bulleting boards and hundreds of sites.
